That line Glory Glory Hallelujah, an American expression, seems wonderfully prescient.

@@rwb966 Your English isn't too good. "I met him aged 8 whilst he was walking toward us on Bond St". The year was Summer 1969. Edward VIII would have been 75. He was alone. I was wearing my future prep school cap just purchased from Billings and Edmonds off Hannover Sq and my mother told me to raise it as he walked past. I refused so as we passed one another she lifted the cap from my head. He stopped, smiled and said what nice manners I had! He had a warm and kind smile. My mother was very tall and addressed him as HRH and he was quite short. Never forgotten it. It lasted no more than a minute or so. Funny how certain things stick in ones memory.

@@Patrick3183 "Upstairs Downstairs" was somewhat more realistic. The young upper-class twits there were all disgusting scabs during the General Strike of 1926. The sequel years later was (deservedly, I think) a failure.

Love the song, loved "Edward and Mrs.Simpson". I think Edward Fox made the very best Edward VIII.

That miniseries was stellar. Edward Fox did indeed do a masterful portrayal of Edward VIII. So was Cynthia Harris (I think) as Wallis Simpson. In fact, that entire production was, IMO, spot on.
