Shane putting you to the test. Remember the bullies wanted a reaction out of you, they want you to reply back like angry comment or a saying something back to them. Which is something you don't wanna do because it means they got what they wanted. "ignorance is bliss" is what one would say. Remember, don't get back at them, the more you ignore them, the more pissed they'll be. They're attention who*e to put it in a nutshell, so don't be one of them by replying back at them with the same energy :) Good luck.

"Did you know, that virtue signaling can let you do all the exact things you call others out for well not getting called out for it your self? Then you can use that excuse of "moral highground" to continue to browbeat everyone else around you! Aint we all just cool!" The video. Remember though! Don't notice this trend, don't pay it any mind, stay silent... Because only they are allowed to use shame as a tactic to silence people because of that fake "moral highground".

This was all phenomenal knowledge, Glad to see you still crushing it with all this advice Shane its incredibly helpful. As someone who suffered from Horrific Rage when I was younger and had Outbursts, Anxious Overthinkin, Started fights, & let my emotions get the better of me as they constantly went up and down. Emotional Control Techniques were a game changer. Helps keep a level head in stressful situations like ya mentioned & can keep you from being manipulated so can you choose how you RESPOND instead of REACTING Abruptly. The whole part of taking a step back & analyzing what type of reaction the person being aggressive to you is trying to elicit is insanely helpful, does take some work but much better than immediately falling into something thats not gonna be worth it years down the line.

As a Gen-Xer who grew up in the 70s and 80s, I received endless bullying and teasing. It got so bad that I literally thought the world was out to get me. If someone cut me off in traffic, or if two girls were giggling on the bus, I literally thought it was a personal attack, and my adrenaline would kick in and I would get extremely defensive. I started taking kick boxing lessons when I was 48 years old, and once I learned how to fight, it somehow became extremely cathartic. I no longer have anxiety, and I realized that no one was ever out to get me. If someone cuts me off in traffic, it's not personal, they're just an asshole. I just turned 56 last week, and I've never been happier

This is just social media. These are 13 year old kids. Don't Take Anything Personally. It says in the book, Nothing others do is because of you. What others say and do is a projection of their own reality, their own dream. When you are immune to the opinions and actions of others, you won't be the victim of needless suffering. People often take things personally because they interpret others actions and words through their own emotions and insecurities. They may believe that others behavior is a reflection or judgment of their own worth, leading to feelings of hurt, anger, or defensiveness. Understanding that each person acts from their own experiences and perceptions can help in not taking things personally. So a tip to you, don’t take anything personally. Also Robert Greene says “By acknowledging a petty problem you give it existence and credibility. The more attention you pay an enemy, the stronger you make him; and a small mistake is often made worse and more visible when you try to fix it. It is sometimes best to leave things alone. If there is something you want but cannot have, show contempt For it. The less interest you reveal, the more superior you seem.

That's a powerful message right here, bro. I was literally dealing with this just yesterday. One of my biggest flaws is me letting people easily get in my head. I care too much about the opinions of other people, so much so that I'm easily in my feelings most of the time. I have siblings that troll me with little words and comments and my aggravated reactions are funny to them. That's because they KNOW I'm easy to to target. They know I care too much. I'm 30 years old and still have a hard time controlling my emotions. I take everything personally. Learning not to caere so much is a wonderful experience. That and reading my Bible more. The Armor of God is also meant to protect you mentally from the challenges you will face like these.

Shane - this is a comment from Gabriel Varga's father - Keith Varga. With 656 comments on this episode you probably may well not see this - but a thank you is in order none the less. Great episode. This is such an important message. Some people may say "oh - that is mundane and boring as I have heard that before".... That person needs to be asked, so - are you the kind of person that has improved your behaviour due to hearing the message before - or are you the kind of person who hears, does not listen or absorb, and continues to act or react poorly? I have been teaching Martial Arts and Self Defence for over 50 years now. These past 30 years has mainly been teaching kids classes, and that is mainly due to the realization we can have such a positive impact on kids lives. Kids listen, want to improve in all aspects of life, and Martial Arts. They are receptive to talking about how we should be treating others, and then act in more compassionate ways. Many adults want to train pretty much for punchy time, kicky time, and get in shape. They really do not want someone talking about moral values, how we treat others, why we should do our best to walk away from a fight - especially knowing there is a really high probability that they will win because they train all the time. Don't get me wrong - there are some adults who do alter their behaviour and their outlook on things - but sadly many do not. I have come to realize that those people who do, and have done the least in life - seem to be the ones with all the negative comments and posts. I started life on a large Police Dept and when I had someone screaming in my face, I kind of grinned while I thought about a Peanut Butter and Honey Sandwich. I could have reacted - but why? I owned a Boxing Gym back then, and when I got off shift, I went to work there in the evening, and would usually spar 18 plus rounds with our members. Back in the late 1970's and early 1980's there was no concern about sparring too hard, as it was all hard - every round. Sad to say someone usually went down every night. Concussion - pfffff- what's that????? For me this raised the question "why fight out of the gym anyways???" Leave it all in the ring and go home happy and a nicer person. Lucky we have learned that type of constant hard contact is not good for you, and most people do not train like that anymore. Martial Arts is a complete package with more than just hitting people. I found decades ago, I could teach anyone how to hurt someone else very easily and in little time - but it takes years, even decades to learn to be nice if it is not a natural thing for you. I really enjoy seeing a successful site with such a large following such as yours getting, and keeping these types of messages out there. Keep up the excellent work. Keith

I started watching you years ago when you were about to start create your own gym. I am genuinely happy to see how far you've come to have your own gym. Good going man!

You’re a real one for this. Good stuff Shane. I wish my coaches gave the 30% rule in sparring.

Thank you Shane, you’re teaching lessons most fathers can never teach and we truly appreciate your positive outlook on life and sport. This is how every man should aspire to act, emotional control is the key to success I truly believe it. These lessons should apply to every area of life no matter what situations you’re in

One important thing to have in mind to reach this level of self awareness is to *be in peace with yourself* Being worried about other people opinions, actions and such is just an excuse for your brain to not focus on the pain of not be in peace with yourself. To reach this peace you have to be happy and satisfied with yourself; even if you dont have reached your goals or you are in a bad moment. Everything is on you. Your failures, your success... All on you, the haters and deplorable people are not even on the map.

I grew up in the 70s, was beat up and bullied on a constant basis. I was an emotional mess until I discovered martial arts in the 80s, and it totally turned my life around. Been practicing for 40 years now. It gave me self confidence. No more anxiety from being bullied and criticized. Marital arts=positive life.

True. Martial arts is everything meditation promises to be. It keeps you calm, stoic and in control of yourself.

Well said Shane!!!! I have the same issue with trolls on Facebook when I comment on things I find a needs to comment , they'res always trolls waiting to pounce on anyones posts just to be bullies. Iv'e tried to keep it in my head to not sweat the little things because the stress ain't gonna get you nowhere but a headache. Good tip.... When things or people try to stress you tell yourself " It ain't no thing but a chicken wing " and let it faze away...

Haven't been following your latest content, and I don't practice Muay Thai for about three years (fcking gym doesn't have a punch bag), but I really dug your videos when I was practicing it a while before. Your analytical stance and manner of communication show that you are a person who employs reason and is effective in pursuing an objective, analyzing details and not ignoring the bigger picture, treating a challenge as a problem to be solved. THAT MEANS: you do not preach something you know nothing about, you do not act on impulsivity or guess-work, you are not afraid of receiving constructive criticism. And for those reasons, alone, you have my respect. Thank you for producing content of good quality when people mostly just shit words out of their mouths. If everyone was a little bit like you, the world would be a better place. And from someone who doesn't by far control himself as much as one would want, thank you for reminding me of a very basic tenet to live by.

I've known shane for some time. As a martial artist & and fighter, he is so talented, skilled, knowledgeable, and super passionate about helping others. As a human being, he is one of the most genuine people you will ever meet. The most down to earth person you can have a conversation with. He's done so much for the martial arts community, it's really sad anyone can hate on someone like Shane and others who are just trying to help others.

Thanks for this video coach. People can really learn a lot from this. One thing that stood out to me was the example of Mcgregor vs Aldo that was some really good analysis. I aim to be a professional fighter and I wholeheartedly believe that it'll be useful to me and others who want to do the same. This is one aspect of fight sports (not fighting) that is often overlooked and this video was as useful as any of your "how to ..." or "5 ways to..." videos. Don't listen to overweight trolls that dwell in their mother's basement your videos have been helpful to me and thousands of others.

One day I woke up and decided to stop being negative. I stopped saying negative things and instead was positive. If I didn't have anything positive to say, I would say nothing. It made me and the people around me happier. Be positive, think twice before being critical of other people and what they do. This channel is great and I have no doubt it has saved many people.

You were the first proper martial arts related channel i ever followed mate, and that was when I was a kid. You taught me what was proper martial arts that had to be given hard work to develop your own strength. I went from stuff like wing chun to muay thai purely because of you. Dont listen to these people mate. Your advice always has and always will be absolutely crucial for developing that missing part of mine, and many others kit that they're missing to go one step further.

All martial arts have internal goals to attain within them, to build virtues of self control, self respect, and leather thick skin. If you only train your muscles and your mindset remains the same, you missed something. This is a great lesson on that. Thanks bro.
