This review isn’t really fair. Those headphones are great. The ps5 doesn’t accept a ton of last gen headphones that have dacs or are usb. That’s why you have to shop particularly for ps5 compatible headphones. Sony would have to patch an update to make older headsets work. This is a little bit misleading when it comes to a headset that’s not even compatible.....

They have never touted to be 3D compatible or ps5 compatible...I would just put out a disclaimer saying that some old gens are not compatible. How do the hyper x cloud 2 hold up? I like your content and even scoop the arctis 7p after watching your vids. I’m just saying....it’s known that old gen USB AND OPTICAL headsets are NOT compatible. That is known already. There are ways around it but it costs more. Just wouldn’t title it say ding these are disappointing when they are clearly not next get compatible.

Well I’ve first realized when I plug in the headphones the audio was really low all I had to do was turn the audio setting back up and it fixed my problem on PS4

I used these for the longest USB on the PS4. after the firmware update i did(usb to laptop) i noticed the quality was sharper and much louder. I never turned on the 7.1, stereo was on point though.

The 7.1 absolutely works on console. I used these on my PS4 sine 2018 and have used them since the launch of the PS5 as well. No issues at all. The PS4 originally required a firmware update directly to the headset from my pc way back...but its made to do that. The headset comes with the information on updating them..and the website even has instructions on how to do it as well. The 7.1 on PS5 was literally plug and play, maybe thats due to them having the firmware updated via PC way back in 2018 on PS4. I absolutely love these and they still work and sound great 4 years later. The 7.1 is a very noticeable difference from it being used in basic mode.

@@surfnbomb Happy to help. I tried to update mine again after many years( assumed there may be a newer firmware)..nope. The original firmware upgrade makes them work perfectly on PS4s and PS5 and apparently nothing new since.

Do you suppose this is why thr volume control on the cord that came with headset won't work on my series s? It lights up but the controls don't do anything. I had to go buy one of those adapters to be able to adjust the volume. So maybe I just need to update the headset?

The 7.1 surround sound/key buttons absolutely works on the PlayStation 5! You have to update the firmware first.

@@xfelks sorry idk what crosstalk means. I think you will like them tho, the comfort + audio is perfect. Just make sure you update them threw their website as that's the only way the 7.1 will work on the ps5. Plenty of videos on KZbin showing you how to update them

I know I’m late here but, the PS5 has 3D audio. You don’t use the 7.1 sound card and 3D audio at the same time, it’ll over process the sound and it’ll sound terrible. They work great with the PS5 3D audio, I use both the cloud 2 and cloud alpha.

You cannot update the dongle anymore, I got these headphones for my ps5 and they will only work being directly plugged into the controller with 3.5mm cable. HyperX has removed the firmware.

I bought this headset about 1.5 years ago and a few months into having it, the mic broke. I bought a replacement mic for about £10 (because the headset’s mic is changeable) and the new one didn’t fix it. Meaning the problem is with the headphones. A apart from the busted mic everything else was perfect for me. Also, i dont use the extra usb plug in, i just use aux straight into controller Edit: the headset for me feels like it has a fairly strong clamping force to be honest. And my head isnt that big. It was tight but you get used to it.

It loosens up after a while, but it's really not too strong. If that's how you feel about these, the turtle Beach stealth 700 gen 2 will make your head pop haha

My mic also doesn't work. The detachable mic isn't the problem tho. It's the 3.5mm headphone jack. It's a 4pole jack. It stopped reading the mic pole

Wireless go cloud 2, wired go revolver S/cloud 2 yes there's better headsets out there but none that are as comfy or durable. Also if you have big ears get the angled earpads from brainwavz they're sheepskin sounds like they'd be hot but believe it or not they're cooler than the leatherette. Steelseries make some awesome headsets too but their durability and cheap plastic will make you caring for them like a full time job! And yes, I look after my stuff I also recommend getting a headband cover for the cloud 2s regardless of wired or wireless! You want to keep that headband clean as possible and you have a headset for life pretty much. Hope this helps.

Bro, I bought this and unfortunately these are not going to give you a 3d audio feel. It's just like with regular 5$ earplugs. 2d audio trying to be 3D. If you want headphones trying to mimick actual surround sound by using the shape of your ear and not just making every sound coming like it's from your brain, you're looking at 1000$+ headphones bare minimum.

The volume controller does work on ps5 and so to does the 7.1 button. He probably never updated the driver on the in built sound card. Disregard this review. I've been using this headset for a little over three years now, on both PS4 and PS5 via USB. After updating the driver I can hand on heart say all the features he claims don't work on PS5, DO. Again disregard this review. I have recommended these to friends and they too have had zero issues with volume control or 7.1 surround sound on PS5 after updating the driver. I would say this headset punches well above it's price point and delivers excellent value for money. Would I buy again? Absolutely with no hesitation.

First you have to update the firmware. It will work fine after that meaning the volume and mic rockers will work just fine. Unfortunately the firmware is only for pc and playstation and not Xbox. I have this headset and I used it with me ps5 and it works nice. But I am not sure if it has 3d on it or not. Now I will go and finish watching the video to see if it has 3d.

I dont know about ps5, but on my 4 pro i can use the 7.1 hooking the headset up usb. So much better than plugged into the controller. Only issue i have with them is the mic doesnt always make a good connection where it plugs into the headset.

You are reviewing the wired version. Have you even tried the wireless wiress version? The HyperX Cloud 2 sounds excellent and it's very loud. Sounds better than the Arctis 7P which is lackng bass

Go for the HyperX. I went from HyperX Revolver S to the PS5 Pulse 3S and the HyperX headsets feel more solid, are much much more comfortable and the sound quality is better. I regret buying the PS5 Pulse and now I'm looking for a Hyper X Cloud II

I bought the Pulse after my wired HyperX broke but I went and bought a new HyperX after that because I didn't like the Pulse, mainly because of its comfort. It gets uncomfortable after wearing for a long period of time.

@@pro-vk2pd my head is on the larger side. It also depeds on how long you are going to wear it at a time, If I wear it 3 - 4 hours in a row it does get uncomfortable. It starts to hurt on top of your head. The sound quality it not bad but also not good. You can use a couple of EQ presets for the Pulse if you use it on PS5 so you can boost the bass a little but the HyperX sounds better in my opinion.

i recently brought this and use the usb on ps4. i have ps4 audio on 25% as its real loud lol you turn it up all the way on the card and it holds well meaning if you were to turn the ps volume max it would be SUPER loud. and its real crisp on cod too. Even though its more so a stereo surround sound feeling you still have a crisp sound on footsteps and if you have good map knowledge you shouldnt solely rely on exactly where footsteps are coming from anyway lol so you should be good. The bass isnt the best but i personally am still getting used to it and man the sound with the usb card is much more crisp compared to just plugging the aux into the controller so i recommend plugging the usb in. The mic is crisp as hell too!!! if you have a ps4 I highly recommend. Not sure why this headset isnt good on ps5 lol unlucky

I'm not criticizing yout review, but I have one of those HyperX and it not quiet at all, the volume keys work perfectly well, I just don't know if it utilizes the 3d audio as well as the Sony pulse. I think you have to update the firmware, because what your saying about being quiet also happend to me with the ps4 before updting driver.

3D audio and surround sound in general are a gimmick, they will never replace a real 5.1/7.1. Stereo is the way to go. When someone testing a headset says that the surround sound is really good, you know that they are not xD

i have those headset ....and was amazing.....and its not an audio controller....is a usb sound card!lwhen i bought them it was a problem with the 7.1 usb sound card on ps4 and so for enable it you have to plug it in and then when the console starts you press 3-4 times the 7.1 button when hyper x logo lights up and then you will have 7.1 on ps4.maybe thats why you don't hear it so loud......and offcours when you have 7.1 on you you will have lower volume because you hear the audio from different ways....front back left right etc! after that the have make an update on the usb card....you plug it on your pc and you update the audio card and that little problem with the ps4 and 7.1 its fixed.i don't know if its the same on ps5! maybe the 7.1 works or its not working at alll ....maybe you need the update ...maybe you need to make the same trick as the ps4 before the sound card update!but those headset is the one of the best in the market in that price range!exept for the cable ....they are waaaaaaay better from sonys gold 7.1 wireless hedeset.everybody knows that is one of the best value for money for pc and ps4 gaming.as for the 3d sound! this headset its not made for ps5!! so ofcourse you don't have the 3d audio that sony say is amazing.....and this chip with the 3d audio is only on sony's pulse 3d headset! before you buy somethink and find it dissappointed first check if its compatible with all the modes that offers with the console that you are try to test them! jesus christ.....you must be the only one to say that cloud 2 is disappointed hedset bro!i will buy them again to test it my self with my ps5...i would like to see if the 7.1 works....because whats the reason to buy a 7.1 headest if you connect it via 3.5 jack and have stereo sound!the only think that is minus is that they have usb card....but....if you want you can make it wireless with just 10-15 euros with transmiters!

yes i have them , but you need to update the headphone to use the sound card connected by via usb , you can connect it on the joistick but you lose quality, and sounds great connected to usb.

I don't get it. I bought this headset after listening to all the great reviews and it sounds absolutely awful. Like absolute garbage! If i plug it into the USB Port of my PS4, it's quiet for whatever reason, sounds muffled, unclear, just plain terrible. It's unimaginably hard to locate enemy steps, because it' just all blurry and ugly. Plugged into the controller directly, it sounds way louder but even worse than with the USB Soundcard. I'm just so confused.

They are good probably just the best in sound quality due to having the legendary THX surround sound that they use to use in movie theaters. Mic quality is great too. However It might not have as much features compared to other brands.
