What I appreciate this episode is that it shows Michael finally growing as a person and disentangling himself from his infatuation with Brian. If you recall, a somewhat similar situation (not the same at all, but similar) happened with David in Season 1, and Michael's reaction was completely different and showed his insecurities. This time, when faced with the situation, Michael actually faced up to his feelings and made some concrete choices about what relationships he wants to pursue and invest in. It really shows the difference between Ben and David, and why Ben is a better match for Michael. By the way, the Ted stuff in this episode is actually very important in the long run. The thing about this show is that none of the storylines from here on out are casually tossed out (like that weird Emmett dancing ballet in Babylon or his online dating profile coming to life), they all are seeds germinating into future episodes..

I was completely drawn into the show way before the second season. I think what the show did well is keeping wanting more that even if you didn't really know if you like the show you want to continue watching to see what happened. What kept me watching is I got goosebumps and a feeling in my gut in the first episode while watching a Justin and Brian scene

Justin (Randy) & Brian (Gale) are so great together on screen and perfect for each other. Best “couple” in any TV drama series I have ever seen. I really liked them starting from the pilot, and it only got better. I only discovered the show in 2011 after seeing it on a best TV show of the ‘00s list and I’m currently rewatching the show again, and I still love it. One of the best cast shows ever as well in my opinion, even though none of them became household names afterwards or ever got award recognition from the Emmy’s, Globe’s or the SAG.
