Some vanilla tips: Press Ctrl to enable smart cursor. This allows you to automatically mine in a straight line, among other things. To save time traveling up and down, make a hellavotor by mining down in a straight line that doesn’t turn, and then make a huge line of rope (bought from Merchant), which is faster than jumping up through multiple platforms. You can make sticky bombs by combing bombs with gel, so that they don’t roll away from the thing you’re trying to blow up. Show anything marked as “material” to the Guide to learn what you can craft. Or you could download the Recipe Browser mod so that you don’t need to go to him. Place down campfires to boost life regen.

I know the guide appears useless early on, but if you're a new player and don't know what to do next, ReLogic made his dialogue quite good at pointing you in the right direction. His help dialogue updates as you progress, and he'll tell you how to get new NPCs to move in, what bosses you can fight next and how to fight them, and just general useful information about the game (such as how houses work) that isn't exactly intuitive. The wiki does tell you everything you need to know as well, but the Guide is useful for telling you what you need to know right now, concisely, without any spoilers (if you care about that sort of thing).

A few tips: There are multiple classes in the game, and the weapons have class-type damage, aswell as class-specific items and accesories, so its recommended to choose a class and pursue it through the game. To gain more mana you can craft Mana Crystals with stars that spawn at night. Making straight arenas with platforms is good to fight bosses. To make proper houses for NPCs to move in, the room must have walls and wood floors, a chair and a table, enough light source and enough space. When you open your inventory you can check if a room is viable for a NPC. A must-have for modded playthorughs is Ore Ecxavator, Recipe Browser, Boss Checklist, Wing Slot (Optional), and WMITF (Which Mod Is This From? Also optional). Voodoo Demons drop the summoning item which when is thrown in lava, summons the boss in hell. The vanity items can be equipped in vanity slots next to armor and accesory slots, which will appear on the character. Bosses have multiple item drops for multiple classes. Taking chests after looting them is good because fairys wont go to it and youll have free chests Clicking the quickstack button in your inventory while being near chests will place the items in the chests where the item has already been put in (Place a glowstick in a chest, quickstack, all your glowsticks are in that chest now) Sorry for yapping lol

Tip: Each weapon is part of a class, 4 are vanilla, being Melee, Ranger, Mage, and Summoner, and 1 added by Calamity, being Rogue. Some armor sets give bonuses for specific classes.

You should know there’s a whole new class calamity adds that specializes in well timed burst damage, that’s called rogue. Basically when you put on an entire rogue armor set it gives you a bar called stealth. When you throw a rogue weapon with the stealth bar full it does more damage and has an additional effect depending on the rogue weapon that will be listed in the bottom of the description of the weapon. Stealth can also be used for other stuff like an accessory could ask for a portion of stealth for an effect. Just figured it’d be nice to give a full breakdown in case that’s something you wanted to try. Hope you stick with this to the end, shut gets crazy. Also I can vouch for others that said to get the magic storage and recipe browser mods, as stuff can get a bit tedious without them and recipe browser is just a portable wiki basically.

Woooo! First MythyMoo and now Valent! Calamity is one of the very few mods that I would strongly argue is worth paying the full game’s price a second time just to play the mod. Like, if you’ve bought Terraria on console in the past, I would HIGHLY recommend buying it on Steam as well, PURELY for playing Calamity. Especially as you can get it on sale, and also cuz there are more mods too. But even if Calamity was the only mod, it would already be worth it. Only other mod that I feel this way about is Celeste’s Strawberry Jam mod.

calamity is meant to be played in revengeance mode, thats probably why all the bosses seemed like pushovers also, if you want to wear the goofy wedding dress and/or wizard hat, the armor slots to the left of your armor are there for vanity stuff! you can put whatever armor you want there and it'll show up over your normal armor
