I've Played The Allegedly Worst Otome Game So You Don't Have To

This was one of my first otome games and I fell in love with it because of its beautiful music, drawings and the tragedy, I even bought the books, I didn't understand anything and I was translating it with Google Translate and thanks to a wonderful person on KZbin who uploaded the game with the translation of 3 of the 5 routes, but I don't recommend it for everyone because if you don't like bittersweet endings or tragedy with a romance that you know won't be happy forever, you won't like it. I found the system interesting and innovative in its own way and it required a guide to advance through all the endings but I took the time to leave the bad endings for the end and I was almost laughing at its 40 bad endings and I wondered how I was going to die in the next part. I liked almost all the routes and the only route that I didn't like very much was Hubert's because he is the main antagonist in all the routes so I couldn't give myself the pleasure of enjoying his route knowing that he was always trying to kill you, but I give the protagonist points for dominate him.

Ironically I fell in love with orpheus' voice, so the baby won in this game, he's too sweet with the protagonist but I also have a guilty pleasure with louis because I declare war on him trying to make him say " I love you" or "I like you" even with other words, that's why I liked his ending the best, He's the character furthest from a romance you can find in the game, he suffer a long time with his boring life and even so in the end he's trying to take his bad habits and uncertainties towards a posible healthy relationships with violet ( He's a bastard anyway, at least in half of the route).

Hmm, if it ever gets localized I'd give it a try. I don't always play bad endings, but I do love moral dilemmas and that whole idea of love versus duty has me intrigued. But god does that gameplay seem annoying

I was pretty interested in checking this out as I've seen it at the top of other otome girlies' localization lists. I'm a fan of artist(s)(recently found out Usuba Kageroo are two artists under the same name), the premise seemed lovely and dramatic in a good way. I am worried about the gameplay aspect though as someone who enjoys when gameplay and otome combine. If done in a way that doesn't hurt the overall experience by dragging or being done in an unnecessary way. I still want to check it this out one day but it was helpful hearing more about that part in this format.

The added game mechanic sounds super interesting but poorly implemented which is a shame because i love these kinds of things. I feel like having to find information youself would add to the immersion of a mystery game and winning arguments sounds like it could be rewarding and smart if it actually lead to something cool. It really is a bummer it didn't turn out good. Oh well 😅 This game sounds super interesting. I don't know Japanese but i think itd be neat if it was brought over to the west. Id love to play it 🙂

I loved the dark non-canon endings: Mainly Ghislains insanity, Louis' suicide, and Orpheus accidentally killing everyone. I felt like those added layers to the characters that weren't seen in the actual story.

@@h14a26 it's a tiny bit complicated 1. You need a proxy service, that buys the stuff for you in Japan and then ships is internationally. FromJapan was my goto, but that became super expensive recently So maybe check out services like DeJapan, Neokyo of Doorzo 2. Sites site Yahoo Japan, Mercari Japan and Surugaya Japan are trustworthy (of course on Mercari and Yahoo you can also check the reviews for each seller, but I haven't heard of anyone who had a bad experience there) 3. For most proxies you have to insert the link to the product page and you're good to go I recommend to use FromJapan only to look for stuff, as on their website you can search all major sellers at once and in English Hope that helps! Otherwise let me know 😊

@@LinLinLavender funny enough I liked Leon and Orpheus a lot, my issue is that always something felt like off, but bein completely fair I read a fan translation and some stuff I dont remember that much, also the fan translation skipped some events in some routes like in Leon's route I think it was where ghislain and tsubame committed suicide? Idk like some aspects got censored, so I am missing context. I still hate Louis tho LMFAO like I liked everyone except him

But of course when I end up dying because I looked in the wrong drawer or something I do look up the walkthrough 😆. I think your approach is the best to see everything the game has to offer in a timely manner. I just wonder if it removes some sense of uncertainty and immersion when playing. Yeah, I don't like wasting time to skip through common routes etc - as skip to next choice function is still too rare... Hm, I do try to guess for myself, but still follow the guide in the end I don't like the uncertainty so I'm glad the guide saved me some stress and pain!

Your video randomly appears on my feed😂 I find it interesting to see an english speaking dedicated otome game channel. Wondering if you've ever heard/played Stand My Heroes by coly (mobile platform)? It's not exactly otome since the main story doesn't have romance, but the character specific story has romance. I find it interesting because the MC works as narc (I don't think I've heard of other otome games with this settings, closest would be Collar Malice I think). Overall pretty interesting game, but you'd have to understand Japanese/Chinese cause as far as I know the only localization available is Chinese. 😅

I loved this game so much in high school. Loved the world builidng, the art and the tragedy elements! this game changed my brain chemistry. Loved Louis and the bittersweet endings. This is probably the only game where I have all the artbooks.

@@gilliantoh4658 rare to see you in your own comment and not in the replies 🤣 But I think you're right about that 😔 I think the problem is that there are not so many English reviews about Japanese games (which makes sense of course) and even Japanese reviews aren't particularly helpful (to me at least, as they are too spoiler free for my taste) So it quickly happens that one review decides to overall opinion of the English speaking audience And then people say "I've heard it's bad" because they'vr read the review, but don't say "Breadmasterlee hated it" what would give more context to this general statement And then everyone thinks it might have been multiple people who think that... Because the people I know who played it, also didn't hate it... Do you think one can do anything about this phenomenon?

​@@LinLinLavenderfor rdf particularly ppl only hear 40 bad ends and don't really go past anything based on that, or the fact that if you're worried, there's plenty of help if you know where to look, plus with the switch, you don't even have to care about the full end trophy that I had to do on vita. A balanced view of anything is essential. At least I have my own group as guinea pigs.

I have a play list about learning Japanese with otome games and also a newsletter where I share games and tips Best to go for a school slice of life setting, like Brothers Conflict, Ayakashi Gohan etc. My first game was Ephemeral Fantasy on Dark, as you can switch between languages! It's also pretty short so not too overwhelming I think it took a few months to a year to be able to read more comfortably (I also never did flashcards...) But I think more important than progress is just enjoying the process! Don't pressure yourself and be proud of every sentence and every word you could decipher! Ukyo, I see! I also like Ikki! Have you played Virche? Haha, hope they make a next EiT game then 🤣 My favourite in Cupid Parasite is Shelby! But Allan is of course also too good to be true! Definitely recommend the fan disk 🥵 Allan's route is especially steamy and satisfying 😍
