I've put off this DIRTY JOB for long enough.

A job I've had on my to-do list for ages was not only cleaning out the market lamb barn... but honestly a long overdue full clean of this barn.
Meaning those corners that collect odds and sods, and a desk that doesn't get used as one, as it's too cluttered with JUNK.
But, to get to this day we needed rain to kick us out of the fields.
Also... THIS IS THE WEEK OF OUR FALL LAUNCH!!!
Which means I'm stressed, and excited at the same time as we do a trial run day to make sure everything will work on Friday!!

I have a daughter who suffers from PTSD from a TBI. She's smart as a whip and worries excessively. I remind her it's wasted time and energy worrying about the unknown if you've done your best at the time. 9 out of 10 times everything works out perfectly. Yay! Sandi/Sheep Day. I do have some small biz tips though. 1. Your packing table needs to be about 12 inches lower. 2. Keep bins off the floor so it's easier on your back. 3. I second everybody's advice to get a wheeled cart for pulling orders. Put each little bin w/packing slip on the cart. It's so much easier.

I agree with the wheeled cart. It will make it so much easier and faster. One trip around the shelves and you will have everything you need. I used to work for a food wholesaler and that is how their pickers worked. Most pallets were picked with one trip around the warehouse. Mind you our wheeled carts were motorized because it was a huge warehouse. You wouldn't need those.

You need a rolling cart for who is picking they can keep the computer and basket on the rolling cart to have a free hand to pick stuff. Best of luck!

I have a great one that I got at harbor freight. It is for working in a garage on automotive. It has a lower shelf and a place for your coffee cup..worked great for a dozen different uses.

Love this - as an occupational therapist i do have a recommendation for your workspaces for the packing - that needs to be lower if the main task is to pack the orders in boxes on those tables. As it is, it will eventually give you and your staff problems with shoulder and neck pain, when you need to lift things up that high to get them into the boxes. I hope this is useful. I'm so excited that you have this for your shop now, it's so nice with a dedicated space, and an efficient setup 😄

Same here ( diging by hand 5' deep koi ponds) and got no help from the medical field , intense pain for a full year. I did from a body builder. I started doing exercises for waisted and tummy..such as sit ups etc working 9n the core..within a month i could get out of bed with no pain and within 4 months I was back with a shovel in my hands.

My father got " talked "about by other farmers that even as a child I used to think that those farmers wanted his farm to be as dirty and messy as theirs so they could feel better about themselves. I used to own and operate commercial greenhouses. Customers constantly told us they had never seen such clean greenhouses!! We didn’t just sweep everyday. At the end of every working day, we vacuumed, dusted, washed, hoses, etc. were put back in their spots, gathered and emptied garbage cans, etc. Our greenhouses were cleaned like they were our home that we lived in! Plants were very happy and it was very rare to have any insect or disease issue. It was also a great working and selling environment! Our customers were always floored and so impressed that we actually vacuumed our greenhouses!! 🥰🤙🇨🇦

He works on his machinery, his fields, his cows, his cottage. Hey Sandy! ❤ I think you need a small rolling cart of some king to push around while filling orders it would make your life so much easier! You could rest the laptop on top if it has a shelf, and have hands free for pulling out bins to get items out without breaking any mugs! Lol! I second all of this. That laptop will be a hazard to carry around--use paper packing slips in a bin for each order and put the bin on a cart to pick the order.

Hi Sandi! Please give yourself grace and trust yourself. The products will sell out. People will find something that they want and you won't have a full stock for long. You're going to be able to ship orders with minimal issues because you have your systems set up. Any complaints you have will be from the vocal 5%. And there will be silent laments because some of us won't be able to buy anything before it sells out or because of the economy. So basically, it's all good and you're pretty awesome!

I don't know how you do it but I am so very happy that you do keep the mice population down. I watch one farmers video that I hated because of the new born lambs being where huge gophers were running around. That did it for me with them .. I could not believe how dirty the walls and all were in their place either. So thank you Sandi for keeping things nice and livable for the sheep in your farm.
