I've wanted to do a Factorio let's play for a long time now, and with Factorio 1.0 out and the amazing new Spidertron, I couldn't resist any longer. I will be using some light Factorio mods as well to improve quality of life. Also I'm a Factorio beginner so don't expect me to guide you on your own journey since I have to try really hard to survive my own!

About Factorio 1.0:
Factorio is a game in which you build and maintain factories. You will be mining resources, researching technologies, building infrastructure, automating production and fighting enemies.
You have to defend your base with a variety of tower defense base defense methods like turrets, walls, artillery, and nuclear bomb (yep, there are nuclear bombs). While defending yourself you must build efficient belt array so you can build a rocket and beat the game. However Factorio mods are the best and you can completely change the game with some of the best Factorio mods. Factorio 1.0 recently released as well and added an amazing Spidertron robot and hopefully every new Factorio update has things just as cool!
My Factorio playthrough, my Factorio gameplay is on Deathworld difficulty where enemies are far more dangerous and swarm more often. I’m a Factorio new player though, so with my limited knowledge I’ll try to guide myself to victory, or at least not succumb to watching a ton of factorio tutorial videos. Even as a Factorio beginner though, this series will be a ton of fun and I hope you enjoy it!

I just started a new game and I am ten hours in and almost have the blue science packs automated and I turned up the enemy difficulty so I am being tortured by massive dens that kill me in seconds the dens are made of more then fifty of those nest things

Charles McKee Yeah I agree 🤣 Early game i always make a starter base I have as a blueprints hover every single resource with miners and have like 400+ smelters just for iron and then another 300+ just for copper, just so I have MORE then a enough to get started, takes longer time but I always have more then enough en then when resources run out I run a big railway to bring in whats missing.

ProTip: Copy-paste the recipes on assemblers by shift-right-click to copy, and shift-left-click to paste. You can also hold down the left "pasting" button and swipe across multiple machines and it will paste to them all. Also, not much need to buffer science. If you're not researching things, you WANT science production to stop, so that your resources can go to other parts of the factory. Also, if you buffer too much, you'll never get through your reserves and then you've kind of wasted materials. Get enough science going to make one per second (of each type, they have different craft times), and that will feed about 12-20 labs in the early game.

Oh hey, quick tip I've learned! With boilers, USE BURNER INSERTERS. In the case of a brownout, your inserters won't slow down since they're powered by the fuel used to fuel your generators. Prevents grid death-spirals, since powered inserters would continually slow down as less and less power is generated as a result of inserters not being able to put as much fuel in. The fuel isn't consumed faster than the inserters can move, as far as I'm aware, so it's basically fool-proof.

Burner Inserter can reliably grab stuff only from yellow belts. Red and blue belts are too fast for it and it can lead to part of your power plant to not get enough fuel. It's actually better to use normal inserters and then isolate whole power facility from outside using automation. Or you can have a box of coal nearby and just hand feed it.

@@aelithmackinnon8656 Every world I have generated in Factorio since 2016 eventually becomes abandoned as I always hit the point of needing WAY MORE green circuits and copper than literally anything else, and just going "man I really need to get more green circuits", but never having the inclination to build it out. Because it's never just green circuits, is it? You plop in more green circuits but silly old you didn't plan for having 8 more blue belts of those infernal things in your bus. So you have to build it out somewhere else and awkwardly merge it into your bus. And then it just becomes a whole logistical nightmare in trying to get everything routed. So then you abandon the world and the next one you make, you decide "alright, _this_ time I'll allocate even more space for extra green circuits". But even then...it's never enough. _There is never enough._ So then you decide, fuck it, I'm doing everything with trains. Then you devote a hundred hours to figuring out how to build optimal train networks and understanding the enigma that is LTN. And even still...when you have hundreds of nuclear powered trains zipping all over the map, when only god knows how many green circuits you have going every which way, _there will still, somehow, not be enough._

So glad you finally took the plunge. But you need to mine all the things! This is not satisfactory with one miner per patch, no you need 100% coverage of the starting patches. Then expand to cover more. Also, you should load bullets automagically into your turrets it's a nightmare later to hand feed them.

My biggest tip... start military lol. lots of automated ammo, with turrets everywhere, and the biggest gun you can find. Also, never forget, the yellow clips SUCK. (& use inserters to fill your turrets) second tip, when you see only 2 or 3 plates a second going down a belt... youre already behind. the lowest you want to see is 15/s (half a yellow) in the early game.

The reason i said it, is because by the time you get to a point where youre using a full belt, seeing 3 or 4 a second moving is the pollution by that time is hitting biters, and theyre getting mad and you wont have capacity to build once they rek. Thats my experience anyway.

I definitely wouldnt call "200 inventory slots" a "quality of life stuff", its definitely cheating, as the base game enforces you to have a smaller inventory until you research upgrades for its size and equip armour with additional inventory capacity

Yes and No. The only thing you skip is running around the map 50% of the time and do nothing. I think it skips this sensless stupid walking stuff or just make it shorter and this probably is quality of life. Although its a little overkill to just add so many slots. There are severel mods for "quality of life research" where you need to research and upgrade your characters "life". As they are more balanced and fitting into the games approch i would prefer them, instead of just adding 200 slots. So skiping the stupid runing is quality of life, the way is not the best.

Oh at 22:35 I saw you have connected 3 Steam Engines to 1 Boiler. This is redundant as the boiler can only provide enough steam for 2 Steam engines. So If you want to expand the power Grid you need 1 boiler for every 2 steam engines you place.

Also use burner inserters for the boilers. Just makes restarting the grid a little easier. I always have a box of coal right next to my boilers, so if the grid shuts down I can plop down a burner to start feeding it and work on fixing my coal production.

When you set up walls around your gun turrets, it helps to have a 1 block space between the gun and wall. AFAIK biters can "bite" over 1 tile and hit your turret if they are against the wall. Spitters gonna spit though.

A few tips: 1. Leave room for more science assemblers. Science takes a while to craft, so you will likely want to expand it soon 2. Bugs are attracted to areas that pollute, so areas that pollute more (power plant) need to be well defended. 3. Because of how big the biter bases are, you will need many turrets to ward off even early attacks (5+).

Some tips: 1. Q works like middle mouse button in satisfactory 2. Shift+RMB and then shift+LMB to copy a recipe from on assembler you another (the function applies to a lot of components in game where it copied and pastes the settings like chests or splitters for instance) 3. Splinters have a handy interface if you left click them :P 4. Like in satisfactory give yourself WAY more space then you’ll need because you’ll need it :P 5. There is a search bar in like every interface (tech tree, assembler recipient, inventory recipe, etc) Enjoy :P

tip: you are using like twice as many power poles as you need to. I recommend taking a couple seconds and seeing if there's any way to cover a given area with fewer poles. It makes the factory look cleaner.

Kibitz one advice: use coal inserters to boilers because if the power goes down the inserters wont be able to put the coal while the coal ones they can still work if they have fuel in them

Actually i wouldn't use burner inserters. He would have to go and refill them (not automated = bad), and if power would go down that means he don't have enough boilers and steam engines, so inserting fuel won't help

Wow! I can't believe how different some of the buildings look in 1.0 (electric miner). I have hundreds of hours on Factorio starting back in 2015/2016, and was brought to this channel as I recently started playing Satisfactory. Finally ! He's playing Factorio ! Oh ! The pain and suffering that are yet to come ! I'm so... WAIT ! What is that !? Three turbines for one boiler ?! HERESY ! Except if your mods modify something, it's two turbine by boiler (boiler produce 60 steam per minute and turbine use 30 per minute). Also, A (or Q as I guess you play on qwerty contrary to this vile french me) can be use to select the object you cursor is hovering over if you have any in your inventory and a second time will deselect it. Also², multiple radars will not boost the range of the scan but accelerate greatly the scaning of the area. It doesn't consume much power so don't hesitate to go crazy with beep beep !

If you are in need of some tips, I highly recommend Nilaus for all things Factorio. One handy shortcut that Satisfactory desperately needs is the ability to copy recipes. Shift right click on an entity (assembly machine / chest / inserter arm) to copy the settings then you can shift left click to paste the settings into the same kind of entity. Unlike Satisfactory, you only need to set the recipe once, then copy paste it to all of the others. You can also copy limited chests and logistic / robotic network settings for chests and/or inserters. Really looking forward to this series to see what you can accomplish.

hey Kibitz, use burner inserters to feed the boiler, when you out of energy the burner inserter will autofeed with the coal and you never gonna feed the boilers manually!

Eh, they consume fuel though. Personally id rather deal with a brownout than mess up the fuel to boiler ratio. You should avoid brownouts anyway

I use the burner miners for the coal as well, and feed it using burner inserters from the miners. So the production and the feeding of coal to the boilers do not rely on power at all

@@raingaming8 honestly that just feels like Planning for failure to me. Id rather use all the coal i belt in for power...If brownouts are such an issue just use a power switch, so you can seperate the power plant from the rest of the grid.

@Wisp Rohell No reason an experienced automation gamer person like Kibitz can't figure it out :P And whilst a full formal mall like KoS builds might be overkill for most new players, you should be effectively building a mall anyway to provide your building materials :)

Tip: 1 boiler can feed 2 steam engines. I noticed you had 3 engines on your boiler there, so you're losing efficiency.

The most helpful tip for factorio: Make a spreadsheet. Factorio doesn't give you i/o/min immediately, so if you're looking to be maximally efficient you need some way to calculate i/o ratios, etc. And there's by far too many recipies to be remembered off of the top of your head.

Primary tip: If you ever think you've built enough, look at what you've currently built, smile condescendingly and say "Aww, that's so cute" to Past Kibz. Then build more. :P

The game satisfactory should be. I’d kill for the depth of research and base defense stuff from factorio in satisfactory. Satisfactory needs the goal of base defense even if it’s an opt out option for those that just want to grind a factory.

Watch some Tips and Tricks videos on yt is the best tip i have for you. there are literally 100 little things the game doesnt tell you like u can use underground belts to just get the items from one side of the belt. Also download the bottleneck mod its just amazing

Tips: 1. Use burner inserters to feed your boilers, that way they can still refuel them if the power goes out. 2. To "throw" fish, left click with it in cursor. It heals you. 3. Splitter can also be a merger or balancer, it also can have input/output priority and item filters. 4. You can side-load onto underground belt ends. 5. Nuclear reactors make more power when directly next to other reactors. 6. Solar power needs 25 panels for every 21 accumulators to last you through the night. 7. Modules are extremely overpowered, especially together with beacons. Effects from multiple beacons add together. 8. Use circuit networks to close/open train stations and signals to get your trains exactly where you need them. 9. Don't bother with defender/destroyer/whatever capsules, you don't need them if you're using turrets and personal lasers. 10. Barreled fluids can be carried by logistic bots 11. Spidertron is OP 12. Gates can be placed across rails

Hey Kibs! Nifty time saving tip: You can quickly set lots of assemblers to the same recipe. If you shift-right click an entity (like an assembler), you can copy it's data. Shift-left clicking will paste it into something else, so you can shift-left drag across entire fleets of assemblers.

You want tips? Two tips is all you need. 1) make a main bus. Belt lines that do nothing but supply basic resources like iron plates, plastic and green circuits. 2) Bigger is better! Always! Dont have one iron belt. Have 4-8! Dont have one assembler for each science pack. Have half a dozend to a dozend! Etc, etc.
