Ightham Mote Kent England A 14th Century Manor house. A walk around this 14th century historic bulding in the heart of Kent, UK. Ightham Mote is a magical 14th century moated manor house, surrounded by beautiful gardens, lakes and woodland walks. Built nearly 700 years ago, the house has been owned by medieval knights, courtiers to Henry VIII and high-society Victorians. Highlights include the picturesque gardens, courtyard, Great Hall, crypt, Tudor painted ceiling, Grade I listed dog kennel.

Isn’t it amazing that sometimes these old properties seem to retain those smells and sounds - as if they’re still alive with souls of all the previous inhabitants! And yeah, I’d feel u comfortable wandering around after dark 👻

I've never understood why moat water doesn't undermine the foundations of a building. We're always told excess moisture is deadly to a building.
