Hi Ghib-san. Thanks for the video. I laughed when you said "Jipun lan lai leow". Please use this tagline more often because it is so funny haha.

It’s so funny that when you ordered your coffee, he started with 冷たいのが and then switched to “iced or hot” in English! He probably thought you were a foreigner 😂

Interesting, those Chinese reviews are written in Traditional script. So either they are Taiwanese, or Mainlanders masking as Taiwanese.
@bobwang2837Ай бұрын
I think they are targeting scamming Taiwanese people into coming to their restaurant, either done by Taiwanese themselves or Chinese who specifically wants to scam Taiwanese people.

I recommend "Jolly Pasta" restaurant for pizza. Their pizza is very good and the cost is under ¥1000. I believe Jolly Pasta is a nationwide restaurant franchise .

I went to Arashiyama last week and passed this restaurant. I think one of the problem is that there is a brick oven pizza restaurant in that area and cost about them same. You could get better food with same price in that area, thats one of the reason that ppl got upset.

99.9% of restaurants or in f&b esp in Singapore, there is always frozen food involved, be it pizza dough to all your meats, fish, steak, everyt in frozen, but in Japan, probably u’ll expect fresher products like vegetables and fruits and different types of meat and them being so accessible due to farms , etc. But pizza….. no way u’ll get it fresh from a cafe unless its an proper italian place where you can see them rolling and stretching doughs and tossing them in the air. All ur bar bites, fries, chicken wings, nuggets, tenders, onion rings, they are all frozen too, we cant always expect ‘fresh’ nth is fresh these days, ‘ frozen chilled’ ‘ fresh frozen’
@zanaros2606Ай бұрын
Could have just used frozen dough but with fresh ingredients. That's the standard restaurant way. But using everything premade and fully frozen, and charging even more than a standard restaurant pizza prize...that's super duper lazy, lol. It's like a restaurant serving you frozen chicken nuggets and fries re-heated with microwave. Rather than deep fried in a proper deep fryer, and then seasoned with special spices and garnished, for better aroma and quality and presentation. The keyword is "value added", even if you are using frozen base. There is simply minimum value added in this chinese restaurant here...other than a reheating microwave. Yet they're selling and expecting a full restaurant menu price.

Good info n video. I always visit Japan in spring n autumn esp to the onsen n ryokan which they also provide meals. But if I am sightseeing, I will eat at 7-11 for a quick bite or choose the restaurant with long queues by locals.
@JonTan-z3eАй бұрын
would be funnier if they served 7 11 or konbini food. heres ur shoyu tamago and gyudon and itoen green tea.
@forestpark7442Ай бұрын
From what you've shown, the reviews are written in traditional Chinese so I guess the reviewers are from Taiwan, Hong Kong or even Malaysia... Maybe for tourists who can't speak Japanese, it's a bonus if the waiters can take their orders in Mandarin; that could have accounted for the positive reviews?

I’m from Singapore and travel to Japan frequently for work. Ironically one of the worst sushi I had was in Japan. It was at Genki Sushi at Shibuya. Truly terrible rice quality and the fish just drops off the rice when u pick up the sushi. The whole sushi also crumbles apart when u pick it up. Till today it remains the worse I’ve eaten 😂
In China they don't care about "permissions", lol. If they can do it, and there are no law or police to stop them, then they will continue doing it. It's just their way of doing business there. Lots of Singaporeans here don't really like people from China too. Some of them can be a lot more competitive and cold-hearted than many of us Singaporeans here.
@gorodn009Ай бұрын
Just my opinion. I also encountered non-Japanese staff in restaurants and shops. Maybe its just me but I don't mind it, cos I can use Mandarin or English. Some stores may purposely hire them due to the high amount of tourists as well. Regarding microwave food, I guess it depends on the establishment, if its a regular shop, I am ok with it.

I'm Singaporean who lives in Osaka, yes its a bit pricey comparing to the local Japanese neighborhood Izakayas, but it is Arashiyama Kyoto. Majority of visitors are tourists. 1680yen(S$15) for a hot large pizza to dine in that ambience I would say it is actually great price. $15 in Singapore you cant even get a bowl of fake ramen in those "Japanese ramen" store. A street snack sweet potatoe costs about 500-800 yen in Arashiyama, you cant compare it to the supermarket price. This cafe owner is quite smart, they know how to do the business. If you ever walk into the small lane of Sanjo三条 in the central area of Kyoto, some of the Japanese restaurants there are serious tourists traps by offering the English Washoku Omakase menu charged 10000 yen, but all premade supermarket dishes and tastes awfully expired. A small bowl of Oden in 黑門市場 Osaka charged me 1400 yen last time.
