I Thank you for the wonderful work you are doing educating people. I was raised and lived in Kawangare in the 1960's when almost everyone knew everyone since the place was sparsely populated. We were told then that at one point, there were lots of Francolins- wild birds (Ngware) in the area hence the name Kwa-ngware. There were coffee farms in some areas plus open fields where people grazed especially on the way to Muslim village.. Sweet memories The place has changed dramatically.

I think the word is not Congo the country but Kongo. Kimani Kongo was a commissioner with Nairobi city council before establishment of counties and he must have been instrumental in establishing that village. Even in kahawa west he played a pivotal role in starting a similar planned village with same name Kongo.

Oh really? Wow! Thanks for the info! Now we are in the know🙏🏼

@@Villagetotowntv welcome, indeed kimani Kongo must be a round. He was one the youngest progressive but abrasive commissioners in the 1990s. Very passionate in slum upgrading then. Suddenly disappeared out of the radar when NARC swept in

That label slum is extremely annoying. It sounds like something a southern white American would use to define okay homes in Africa.

You covered only kawangware north where alachi is mp dominated by luhya people from western kenya,who fundraising in the streets for a burial of somebody,the other bigger part the mp is john kiarie,and even larger parts of Kawa aware 👍

Thanks for the info..I really tried to understand what those guys were fundraising for and I could not get it
@allanopiyo.81544 ай бұрын
There is nothing like "Kawangware North" or something. Kiarie is in DAGORETI South that stretches/starts from the other side of Naivaisha road. Actually the larger Riruta Setlight, Kabiria,Waithaka and the stretch towards Ng'ong Racecourse ndio area ya John Kiarie.

Good work. But this hood is much much bigger. You've only recorded a small piece of 56 and 46.
@Villagetotowntv5 ай бұрын
Really? It must be big then
@jeddywakane5 ай бұрын
@@Villagetotowntv Yes. The actual slums of Gatina Kanungaga alone are equivalent to the area you covered, stretching deeply along the Lavington border, contributing to Kawangware 56. Kawangware 46 especially the one along Naivasha Road, from Congo-Deliverance all the way to Naivas is another huuuuge area with residents on both sides of the road and harboring the magnificent Kawangware Market.
