Wow! I clicked to watch your PCT thru-hike but became mesmerized by your ability as a filmmaker, editor, storyteller, and subject. I’m a new subscriber because I don’t want to miss anything that you create, but also because I think I can learn a lot from you. As far as suggestions, please don’t neglect NZ. There’s so much material in your backyard to which you may have become habituated, perhaps to the point of apathy. Part of the reason we love to travel is because we come at new experiences with eyes wide open. My experience has been that when we borrow from the experiences of others we too may see again as though for the first time. Empathy is a superpower! 😊

Touched in so many ways by your PCT video. One is that when I was about your age, living in Nowhere, USA, and had just out of military service, I did the reverse and spent 12 weeks in NZ, going from top to bottom and staying mostly at (awesome) hostels. The experience including meeting lots of fun people (many Aussies and Canadians who were also traveling) was what I needed.

There is only only one mountain chain called Sierra Nevada (no s needed). The Sierra Nevada is basically one tilted structure with the lowest portion on the west edge (which is buried under the San Joaquin Valley) with the high edge towards the east as an abrupt break which is also known as The Range of Light. What happened in the Sierra is uplift and intrusion of igneous plutons, erosion, glaciation, more erosion, snowfall, tree growth, rain, plant life, wildlife then man.

Oh man, I want to go hike in New Zealand now. It looks beautiful! I hiked the PCT in 2018 and 2019. I did SO MUCH planning for my 2018 hike only to find less than a week into the trail, most of my plan went out the window. I didn't bother planning too much of my 2019 hike. Great stuff! Finally we get to hear about the camera equipment. Yeah! I would be happy if you did a whole video on this, about how you carried the cameras, if and how you used tripods, how much you set up the camera and walked back, etc, how many SD cards you used and whether you kept them with you the whole time, and what about batteries and recharging? Also, did you do any rough editing, at least sorting out unneeded shots, on the trail, or wait till you got home? (I know some of these have been at least partially answered. A dedicated video of that sort would still interest me. )
