On 15th April, 1802, William Wordsworth and his younger sister Dorothy were on a walk around the shoreline of Glencoyne Bay, Ullswater, in the Lake District, and came upon a large patch of daffodils. It is thought that Dorothy's diary entry of that day, inspired William to write this poem in 1804.

I'm thinking of doing maybe 3 more poetry videos on this channel, before starting a separate channel to put Poetry videos and Short story readings, and maybe even an audio book attempt eventually. It'll be a sporadic channel, with uploads as and when I manage to get something done. The 3 poetry videos here will be; The Jabberwocky, by Lewis Carroll, The Boy Who Turned Into A Boat, by me, and... I don't know. Suggestions please.

Thanks Lexie, I'd love to do Flannan Isle; though doubt I could do a convincing Scottish accent. It's not always read with an accent, so could perhaps do it more like as if I were reading Poe. The Highwayman is quite a challenge, usually presented on KZbin animated or acted; not something I can do... though I could probably read it reasonably well. I'm open to doing some Shakespeare sonnets sometime, will have a think on which. 🙂

Tom this brings back the days when I lived my best life. Your reading squeezed some tears out of my heart. When we were young we bought a most beautiful small 36 acre Farm and we spent years making it beautiful. Our large orchard was filled between trees with large double Daffodils. There were thousands of them. In 1970 us kids started a daffodil stand. We sold as many as we could pick. There was never any danger of running out, they would grow and bloom as fast as we could pick them. Back then we would make $15 each just selling flowers for $.75 a bunch, with salal, a favorite greenery for florists, we would get a dollar. We had constant repeat customers. They were very kind to us. We also provided Salal to a greenery warehouse and bought our first Ten speeds with that money. So yeah Tom they were days of Daffodils and sunshine.❤ Why do such good memories make me cry? I'll never understand me.

Cool poem in my neck of the woods we call them buttercups. I watched Victorian Farm and I think in Shropshire of there they cut the buggers and sold them to market by train. We got them overhear wherever an old cabin was or homestead. Also old dry stone fences so I always wonder if folks over in UK came to US and just continued what they knew when clearing the land before barbwire and wooden poles came along.
