On 15th April, 1802, William Wordsworth and his younger sister Dorothy were on a walk around the shoreline of Glencoyne Bay, Ullswater, in the Lake District, and came upon a large patch of daffodils. It is thought that Dorothy's diary entry of that day, inspired William to write this poem in 1804.
