Matthew 6:24 “No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money. Luke 18:22-24 "22 When Jesus heard this, he said to him, “You still lack one thing. Sell everything you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.” 23 When he heard this, he became very sad, because he was very wealthy. 24 Jesus looked at him and said, “How hard it is for the rich to enter the kingdom of God! Jesus taught that we should not depend upon our resources, but upon God, as the source of our supply, trusting him to meet our essential family needs (Matthew 6:9-13, 19-34; Luke 12:22-34).

Please use some discernment in quoting Scriptures. Not everyone is at the same degree of spiritual awareness. You, as a Christian, know how Christians are to "sell what you have," and come follow Christ. For someone who has no Christian background for understanding could hear that and either be very confused because he knows Christians who own property, or he could think he could never sell all his worldly possessions to follow Christ, because...how could he live...? Becoming homeless for Christianity!!? Without the perspective of a Christian background, that could scare him completely away from Christianity. That's why I say use discernment when quoting Scriptures. The Christians who literally do sell everything and follow Christ are monks and nuns. Don't assume everyone can do that, and don't assume that one who is totally unfamiliar with Christianity will necessarily have anything other than a literal understanding of the Scriptures as he BEGINS his Christian journey through life. Still, I'm so happy to see that you responded to this young man's quest. You obviously have a heart full of the love of God! God bless you, beloved one!

Eternal happiness comes from within and nowhere else. Happiness doesn't come from another person, material things, money, or belief systems outside of you. Surrounding the things that you love to do and the people you enjoy spending time with and your internal happiness blossoms exponentially.
@jonnaborosky88364 жыл бұрын
True. The Kingdom of God is within. You do need to find God within you or else you can end up so focused on yourself that you end up worshipping yourself over God. Isn't that what Lucifer did just before he fell from the grace of God and Heaven forever! We have to discern the spirits VERY carefully....all the time and everywhere, but especially when looking within ourselves because it can be SO easy to miss God or start thinking we are equal with Him, and that's a gigantic spiritual mistake that lasts forever. Still, I agree with you that we truly do need to look within ourselves...to find God on His Kingdom, and there is nothing external to ourselves that can ever be more valuable, or even of equal value to that in finding the Peace of God. I hope this is what you meant when you said to look inside. In the love of God, I love you

Yes, Enlightenment is within us. God is all around us and in everything that vibrates in the universe. When one dissolves their Ego one can achieve this level of consciousness from within. One will no longer make decisions with emotions like they did in the past, but one will use common sense and simple logic in every situation through awareness and intuition. Being open to everything the Universe sends you and attached to nothing.

Love that Ramsey brought up Pascals spiritual vacuum and how the world tries to occupy it with man made things or pleasures that don’t align with Jehovah (God’s) standards or principles. It’s interesting because I studied a lot of philosophy, ethics, and other humanities yet, the Bible simply dials this topic they are discussing to Matthew 5:3 “Happy are those conscious of their spiritual need”. It’s nice to see that after all the secular studies I’ve gone through that even philosophers who paved the way for mathematics, physics, chemistry, etc. still believed that we came from a Grand creator and that some of them, believed in a spiritual need. I commend the gentleman who is aware of that spiritual need, but is still afraid to begin finding that truth for himself. I think Ramsey did well in showing that Christlike compassion and sympathy for the gentleman who is afraid to move forward in studying the Bible and being in the presence of those who do and those who don’t.

This last year has been super rough. I lost every one in my life. Even my car until very recently when I got another one, but anyway thank God I have a car now. I’m just trying to “rebuild” my life I guess. I turned 21 a couple days ago, and over this last year I’ve come closer to God, accepted him as my lord and savior. But I still don’t have any friends, I have 2 family members in another city far away, and I just don’t know how to keep going. I want friends, I want people I consider family. But I just don’t know how to go about getting any of that. I don’t like the city I live in, and want to get out asap. But that’s a year or more away. So realistically I shouldn’t keep living a life I hate until I leave. But again I have no idea how to meet someone and be happy with them anymore. I use to use weed and other drugs to keep me “comfortable” around people, but just before my breakup at the start of 2023, I had gone sober and haven’t been able to make connections with people since. Lots of stuff packed into the texts above, if you guys have any suggestions please let me know.

...you're just a kid so you've got plenty of time to learn, but DO NOT put it off as you'll be 40 before you know it!...seriously, congrats on getting sober as "mood changers" of any kind are a dead end, literally...getting high, in the short term, is great, but the next day you realize you are right back where you were, as you've learned...I suggest finding an Assembly of God church...it may take some time to find one you connect with...just remember, this life is a journey, there will be ups and downs...read the Bible, perhaps starting with Proverbs and the Psalms...Romans, Isaiah, John and James are perhaps good places to start also...or Matthew , chapters 5-7 with Jesus' Sermon on the Mount...start slow, pray and be prepared to be "attacked" by those who think you are "weird" for declaring your faith in an entity scorned by this world...and satan, too, as he will try to steer you back towards him and the evils of this fallen world...God Bless!...

Oh John-- thinking of you here. My husband came from a family of a Buddhists(not really strong practicing but somewhat) and is the only believer in Christ in his family thus far. They were upset about it at first and then not really understanding it since they understood it as a western religion. It's hard when you come from a culture that is more community based (most eastern cultures) than individualistic (more western cultures). We're in Dallas too and there are a lot of questionable churches in the area. Hope you find a safe person to just talk to.

What I hear in this is that you can choose your vice if you need one. He chose God and religion. It is the safest but is easy to exploit. There are many ways to view religion objectively. 1. To control others. 2. To feel good for giving to others. When you don't know who to give to, you trust in your church to choose wisely. 3. To justify your morals to yourself. This is from the outside (formerly inside) looking in. For someone who doesn't need a religion, religion is just another drug. It's porn. It's booze. It's food. It's cars, diamonds, abuse, power... it is something to make you feel better, which CAN help others as well. People volunteer and help others because it feels good. That's ok! There is no need to coat it with God. Some TRULY believe in their version of God. That's fine. But for those who can plainly see it is very unlikely that religion is correct, you are no different than someone who can quit herion whenever they want. Believe in a creator. That's not ridiculous. Following rules set by men in the name of a creator who likely cares not how you live on Earth is a bit... odd. If you think you need to worship the creator of the universe in order to be seen as a good person in His eyes... you have a pretty narcissistic creator. Lastly, God has nothing to do with economics and personal wealth anymore than He has something to do with poverty and child abuse. Enjoy your day, everyone.

A great place to start is cracking open a KJV Bible and reading it. Perhaps starting in the New Testament first. That will more than likely teach you many things and give you many questions. One always must be careful who they go to for answers, pastors/bishops/etc may be wrong and unintentionally lead you down the wrong path. It's a difficult journey to find the narrow path, but ultimately God will reveal the things to you that you seek that flesh and blood cannot.

The Bible calls money-lending at interest to someone who will not be able to repay a sin... If the lending is a sin, then borrowing is enabling the lender to sin and that is a sin. . So, you should avoid taking out a loan you know you can't repay. . The Bible talks about 7 years being the maximum duration of a loan... Every 7 years the Jewish people were to cancel any loans that weren't paid off yet. Property leased out would revert to the owner. . So we can quickly learn that you shouldn't borrow more than you can pay off in 7 years. . The Bible teaches good financial management... You don't have to believe the rest. There is a lot of good advice about how to be prosperous. . After following the advise and finding that it all works, that might have you consider the rest from a different perspective.

I am a big fan of Dave Ramsey and follow his financial advices. However, I don’t understand how a man with such a great intellect can be soo naive when it comes to religion. Especially, worshipping a man as a god that couldn’t protect himself. Dave, 1+1+1 = 3 NOT 1.

@@JamesSmith-dy4bu Oh sure....if that's you're interpretation of god as he couldn't protect himself... totally understandable why you think Dave is niave...but that interpretation is Not who God is!
