I have purchased nearly every console generation (including refreshes) and home computer since 1976. Every single generation you get the same people complaining about refreshes and price. Dry your eyes. DF even covered a patreon question from someone asking that generations should be 12 years apart ? Do the math.. you probably start gaming proper from 10 years old. So every 12 years means you will only ever see 6 generations...in your lifetime, assuming you live to 82 years old. I dont know about you, but at 51 yrs old, i have possibly ps6 and ps7 then thats me done, im going to the great console in the sky. I want generational leaps every waking moment on this planet. Kids...dont think about this tho. The whole point of PSSR is to make games with low internal resolutions so graphics aren't taxing the system, and then you have to sacrifice frame rates for graphics (resolution) and PSSR upscales the resolutions to produce a 4k and above image quality. So when pssr does it's job, there's room to run games at high frame rates because the internal resolutions are low. The pro is pretty much based on pssr.

True, but so are modern GPUs in general. You pretty much have to use DLSS or FSR for a decent experience on PC as well

In theory but no, this is where people become disappointed Sony told you the purpose of the ps5 pro and its simple, better graphics at 60, people keep thinking a console is like a pc but it's not, the cpu in consoles have always been alot weaker then the gpu, including ps5 now the ps5 pro has a 45 percent increase to that gpu but nothing for cpu, this means you get better fps when gpu is the bottle neck, but in most cases games are cpu bottle necked even on pc, the ps5 cpu will not allow high fps regardless of gpu upgrades, so 60 is still the norm

It's not just about the CPU, it's not just about the GPU, it's not just about the PSSR, things work in tandem together to get the best out of the hardware. But everything you just said is pretty much what I said and what I expect from the PS5 pro. I didn't expect anything different, I know that's what this pro is, and knowing that, I bought it. And 60 will be the norm, but the norm, with Fidelity like graphics. That's the difference. On the base PS5 60 with Fidelity graphics are not the norm.

"Little upgrade". Playing games with fidelity mode like visuals at 60fps is in no way little. Consider this, when you are still choosing between peformance mode and fidelity mode, I'll be playing the Pro mode, the best of both worlds. If the pro mode existed on the base PS5, you'd choose it 100% of the time. Why, because its the best way to play. So the "little upgrade" remark is straight up dishonest. If you can afford it then buy it or dont and watch others have a better experience. The downplaying is so played out.

I pre-ordered one after the 100% real Sticker Shock wore off. After learning more about the technology, I decided it's worth it. I just was expecting 600 max. They could have done that I feel with a 1TB SSD. The game that helped me make the decision is Monster Hunter Wilds, I will do anything for that series. Also, there's 10 known games getting enhancements I haven't played yet or have yet to come out.

Most games are said to be 60fps with 4k if you have the money I would pay for the extra 144hz because in the long run if you decide to get the ps6 pro that might allow 120fps as the norm then it would be worth it if you have that money thinking long term wise still have a couple weeks to save to buy the tv

One of the selling points of PS5 was not having to choose between performance and fidelity like with the PS4 pro. But what happened? Games got more demanding, so now you need a PS5 pro... Until games get more demanding. They are already setting exoectations to 30fps when ray tracing is more demanding. It would be nice if they could do what they promised with this gens hardware. Basically this is a GPU upgrade for $700, with an old CPU but 1 extra TB. You can do a trade in your PS5 to get the costs down. But you might want that stand and disk drive which moves costs up again.

I can't see the value in the pro at £700. I can get digital ps5 for £329.99. If you play games and not frames thats good value. If frames and resolutions matter that much then you should be looking at getting a PC. If you have a ps5 and looking to upgrade or have pre ordered then I think that may have been FOMO. However, you will get a better experience.

If we are going to keep it real here, every man and his dog thinks they are the target audience for the PS5 Pro, and are venting hate that it is too expensive and not what they want. The PS5 Pro is an elite console for the enthusiast who is willing to pay extra for the best console experience similar to high end PC. If you can't afford it, you are not the target audience. The PS5 is for you. PS5 Pro will deliver the goods but it will cost you. You won't be able to match its performance and features with a PC build under $2,000. It will cut deep into high end PC territory. It won't beat the best PC's because they can throw money at it to brute force a win, but it will be far superior to mid range gaming PC where most PC gamers reside.

Totally agree with you. People whine too much. I still have all the Playstations and was financially fortunate to be able to reserve the PS Pro. Don't think that the console is not the problem but the price. But beware: the people who are now complaining about the PS 5 Pro will be the first to be disappointed when GTA 6 is released. One more thing, there may be around 50 games released for the Pro... once GTA 6 is released, no one will play anything else. So those games are only there to bridge your time to GTA 6. My TV is the LG 77C25LB, my surround is the Samsung HW-Q990C and with the Pro I am completely ready. Bring on GTA 6!!

@@VallieBGaming My problem with consoles are them being locked and when they get the yellow lighter that’s a problem for me. I had the original Xbox, which had the yellow light of death.I had the PS3 which had the red light of death. Sony had updated their systems which was crashing and bricking people systems. It had nothing to do with the PS4. It was an update Sony pushed out. I have both of my PS4‘s one is jailbroken one isn’t and my PS4 is waiting for jailbreak. After not being able to play my PS3 games on my PS4 or PS5 that disturbed me! My point is consoles have issues as well. With PC problems there are easier ways to fix them than a console! If Sony push out a bad update you will have to wait for a fix!

@@deshawnmoon35 consoles problems are few and far between. Statistically, console malfunctions are not the norm. For example Ive had consoles in all generations and the only one that crapped on me was the 360s RROD. Pc on the other had is known for updates and patch issues. Console is a more limiting experience than pc but it also limits the malfunctions as well. At the end of the day consoles will always be the most streamline experience especially over a pc.
