We lost John much too soon. I was fortunate to attend his outdoor concert in the Rocky Mountains by Park City, Utah. Just him and his guitar--no band. On that perfect summer even as he was singing "Colorado Rocky Mountain High," an eagle appeared in the sky above us, soaring and floating on the mountain wind currents. It stayed with us through the lyrics, "I know he'd be a poorer man if he never saw an eagle fly," then left when the song ended. I like to think Mother Nature was thanking John for loving her and all her children.

John Denver was a vessel of the Lord. Truly magnificent gift from God. Oh how he's missed. He was imperfectly PERFECT. Just what the Lord understands.

one of the most profoundly beautiful songs- words, song content, performance- all top notch: ".... we are standing all together.....on the threshhold of a dream...no more hunger, no more killing, no more wasting life away..." For those that believe, soon John, soon!!

I agree with your comments on John D. Insights on why human BEINGs should “want to live” …in order “to give” for Beings blessed with health & food should “want to see, to know” others are hungry & suffering w/ ill health … to know we all have unique gifts to give ….”We are standing all together Face to face and arm in arm We are standing on the threshold of a dream No more hunger no more killing No more wasting life away It is simply an idea And I know its time has come”

This song got me through a lot of tough times as a child. John Denver wrote this song when he was serving on the President's Commission on World Hunger in the late '70's. He co-founded the World Hunger Project.

MISSING ME SOME JOHN DENVER. Some critics think Denver had passed his peak by 1979, but this performance shows he was still at his best in 1991. Great vocals, no autotune, great message. Tell me, which singer today performs as well? He was a great man, and I was missing him tonight. Go with God, John.

I think of all the unborn babies who never get the chance to live, grow, run, play, share, give, and love when I hear John sing this song. Abortion is an evil that must be stopped. An innocent child who grows in the womb has the RIGHT to be born and live out his/her life. If the mother doesn't want the baby, she should let someone adopt her/him. It is a sin to kill a child and deny that child the right and joy of living.
@mumofbrunodog Жыл бұрын
I believe they will get to do all of those things in the heavenly realm, no matter which stage in their life they passed. And equally not all children born into this earthly life have the simple privilege of doing those things of which you write. How many children have never known safety and joy. I’m sure it’s never that black and white.

Pro-life? Really? Why do you turn a song like this into your own political statement?--it's completely unfair to John. This song is talking about the terrible things that we do to the children who are already born, the way that so many of them live in hunger and poverty, and we do almost nothing to help them. You prove the classic line: You're against abortion, but once a child is born, they're on their own. That's not pro-life; it's simply pro-birth. This is not a song about "the children in the womb"--rather, it's a song about the children who are here already, suffering from neglect and abuse.

This song has nothing to do with abortion, pro or con. It is tied in with John's work fighting hunger around the world and his anti-war views, knowing how children are affected by those conflicts. It's spurred by images like those of starving Ethiopian kids, or children in war torn countries.
