Those of "2024" please report with a like, those who still listen to this beautiful music. ❤ Spectacular, that is music, I was transported to those unique moments when music was enjoyed both dancing and singing it, there was no that obscenity, that vulgarity, we were happy until they came to destroy our fun thank you so much for this gift this medley of such pleasant memories

I adored John Denver. I was so sad when he died. It is 2024 and I am feeling sad and nostalgic thinking of the people I have lost to death in the past and will in the future. I am creating a mix for myself of grieving songs that I am in the mood to listen to from time to time. This is one day after we lost Toby Keith to Cancer. This is 9 months after losing my mom to dementia. Wow...30 yrs since we lost John Denver. So many people dying from Covid...but none of mine thankfully...but so many did. Life is for the Living...with room for the Grieving that we will all go thru someday too often. Hold your loved ones tight.

I was in a cafe on Galway's main street when I spotted John, and his band chatting, laughing, over coffe.They were having a golly good time touring Ireland, singing in venues throughout the country. I heard John say. "I'll get this guys." And went to the counter. I cease my opportunity and walked over to him and shook his hand and said, "I love your music, John; you have the most beautiful voice." First, he was amazed, then came that big broad John Dever smile, a smile, that melts your heart when you hear birds singing on a warm sunny day. That moment will stay with me untill I die.

I was just a kid when I met him through his music - my sister and zi would jump on our parents’ bed to “Grama’s Feather Bed” - when he and Annie divorced, I cried. We used Annie’s Song at our wedding. It was the soul, the love, and the beautiful spirit I will always keep in my heart. This song will be at my own Celebration of Life. I hope to meet you, John, in the wild hereafter.

He became my best friend when i was 13, in the 70’s, i was lonely and suicidal and John Denver’s music brought me peace and comfort. I was blessed to see him in concert in Oregon a month before his passing, it was like spending the evening with an old friend. And now at 60 years old, his music is a happy and comforting memory of my younger days. I love you, John Denver 💖

My memories of John Denver wonderful music as we travelled in our car in 4 hour journeys to a weekend cottage. I filled my bag with spare batteries so we could play th he taped I had done on my much prized Thorn Radio Cassette player. The children loved John Denver as we did and would sing along till they fell asleep. I always find his voice so relaxing and the sincerity of his words made a wonderful peace in my heart. Thank you for all your amazing music over all these years.

My life was a living nightmare in the 70s. He kept me alive. I was born a nature and animal lover in my soul and the abuse, hunger, neglect tried to destroy every inch of my soul. His words and music saved my life. Reminded me who I was. The day he died was devastating for many of us. Thank the angels he left us his heart in his music, a legacy of love and guidance through humanities chaos

It turns out he was a drunk who beat his wives and verbally abused many of his secretaries to the point of tears, and had no friends. Not sure he's in Heaven, but...?
@SharonMcwilliams787 ай бұрын
@@chrysanthemumfan214 trauma created versions of humans that never got the chance to heal….I’m sure like many he paid a heavy price for allowing his demons to take control. Doesn’t change the fact he is one of the greatest folk singers , song writers and inspirational man of my lifetime at least ❤️🙌🏻. Man being the operative word. Heaven is a creation of man …he found his way just fine.❤️🧚♀️🙌🏻☮️🥰🇺🇸🔥🍀
@chrysanthemumfan2147 ай бұрын
@@SharonMcwilliams78 He didn't find his way just fine if he physically abused his wives and brought his assistants constantly to tears. He should have recognized from these behaviors that he neeed therapy, and sought it. I have trauma. I have early life trauma as defined by the American Academy of Pediatrics. It has led to quite a few trauma responses in my emotions and behaviors. I have sought talk therapy, neurofeedback therapy, and brainspotting therapy (the latter two being among the ideal therapies for trauma suffered at the preverbal stage of child development). And I've done nothing of the type that John Denver did. My biological family background (I'm adopted) had alcoholism in it. I stayed away from the stuff even before I learned that. My adoptive mother had a cousin who was addicted to alcohol. Her stories were sufficient to keep me away from wanting to ever become reliant upon drink. Why did Denver turn to alcohol and abuse to deal with whatever traumas he had suffered, instead of seeking therapy? Certainly, he was a very wealthy man and could afford any type of therapy he wanted. My neurofeedback therapy was $250 and out-of-network, AND our insurance company doesn't cover it at all. So we paid $1000/month for it for 10 months till the therapist felt I was ready to stop treatment. It was a huge sacrifice. Why didn't Denver do something better with his trauma than hurt his wives and terrorize them and the people who worked for him, devoting their lives to following him around the world and serving him? Being away from their families? Why couldn't he be better, since he sang a lot about living a good life? Yes, I adore his music! I also adore the music of Richard Wagner, who nevertheless wrote operas championing German nationalism and whose music was utilized ubitiquously by Adolf Hitler, who idolized it. I do separate the man and the music. But, look at the comments down below. "He is an angel." "He is singing in Heaven." We don't earn Heaven. But if we did earn Heaven, it wouldn't be through skilled composing and singing. It would be by the quality of human being we are. I'm just saying people here are exactly not separating the music and the man, and are idolizing the man because of his angelic music. He was nothing but a hypocrite, just like many of the hypocrite priests and preachers who have lived secretly detestable lives unbeknownst to their supporters and followers. (And I understand you don't believe in Heaven. But you're definitely smart enough to get my drift.)

My mom and dad ate at a buffet restaurant and John Dutchendorf was sitting a few tables away. Nobody was bothering him at all. He and mom happened to go to the buffet at the same time. They struck up a conversation and John came to mom's table to sit and talk and eat a plate because he was alone, and he said, because he was lonely. My mom could cheer anybody up, and he gave her a hug before going back to his own table. Lovely day for all 3 of them.

What a beautiful song. I do believe he is singing about the continuity of the life of the soul from one lifetime to another. I suspect it is their musings about John Denver and Joe Henry in their various lifetimes they lived together. And, that in the end, it is the Divine Spirit that is ominipresent and the giver of all that exists that unites us all. Thus, we live as part of this Oneness, which fills the empty space and that which is in our hearts, and extends throughout the Universe to the most distant stars. In the end, we "fly back home" to our spiritual Home as Spirit at the end of each lifetime. A wonderful poem of the magnificence of our Soul and its connection and awareness back to the Divine 'One and All'. We are timeless Beings of Light. One of my favorite songs of JD's! Quite insightful!

I adore him even now. I listen to him everyday, and my lovebird starts singing every time he hears him lol. I literally have to stop music because Baby, my lovebird sings louder and louder by each passing song. Soon I can't hear John Denver. I know every word of every song and it makes me sad to this day to have lost such a beautiful soul 💔

I grew up listening to John a lot of years ago. Even though he's gone I still love his music. Over 40 years later.

Beautiful and John sings it with all his heart and soul. I remember the day he died and I was so heartbroken. He is very much missed and how sad he was so young.

As much as I thought I knew about John before his untimely passage into death, I had not known about this story or song before. With all of John's songs playing for the masses, this one stands out as the most powerful song he ever sang. And then,.....there's his voice that can set your feet upon the earth or lift you above the clouds. At damn near the same time. ❤

Can the world ever have a voice as beautiful as that of John Denver's? As song writer as creative as him? The man has left his large footprint at the sand of time.

As teenager back in the early 70's and rest of that decade he brought me out shyness and move on live like a normal person would do. Love his songs

This song reminds me about my wife. It was her favorite song before she lost the battling to cancer, I wish I could change the hands of time, she was always there for me and our lovely daughter, and I never miss a moment with her, life could be so unfair most times, there are some pain I will cry in vain but won’t let you know how I will feel yes but some times i wonder why bad thing always happen to good people

John Denver was one of the great story tellers of all time. He was also so down to earth and so utterly sincere and always in the moment and connected to his audience and his music. He was a great humanitarian and a great human being. Not to mention arguably one of the greatest songwriters and musical performers of all time. Would give anything to have heard him live.
