I recently received one of these and I was, frankly, shocked at how good it was. Couldn't find an issue _anywhere._ The frets on mine weren't at all scratchy and had no sharp ends. The instrument sounds good as well. Obviously, it isn't anything like a genuinely high end guitar, but I would still have been very pleased with mine had it cost twice as much. I shall be looking in to Harley Benton's higher priced guitars now.

Great guitar + review. What I don't understand is that on most video's with guitars that have a front input (such as SG's), I see players using a guitar cable with a straight instead of angled connector jack. I honestly couldn't play it without fear of breaking the jack.
@shuttervuleinguitarroom Жыл бұрын
Thank tou very much. 😊 When I play with band I always use my right angle cable. But here at home I only have this one. But I agree with you. 😊

I bought the same, as my first Harley Benton. Action was a bit higher and neck needed truss rod tightened a bit. I have a few high frets so I can’t get action lower than 1.75 on the low E and 1.5 on the high E. It plays very well though and I like the pickups. I may try to gently hammer the high frets when I put new strings on. Any advice you can give me? I don’t have a lot of experience with guitar setup.
@shuttervuleinguitarroom Жыл бұрын
Hi, that is sad to hear. Do you consider returning it and ask for to new one? If you want to hammer high frets you MUST use soft hammer otherwise you are going to destroy ftets. Maybe to level only those frets? You need sand paper wrap around point finger and gently sand the high frets (but use round movements to keep round/crown top of the frets). 😊
@hvhvgitaar Жыл бұрын
@@shuttervuleinguitarroom hi, thanks for the quick reply and for the advice ! I didn’t send the guitar back because I am actually quite happy with it. There are only 2 frets that are a tiny bit high on one side. The 1.75 action is Ok for me. Lower is always better but it doesn’t bother me that much at the moment. I bought a special fret hammer with a brass head online and will be watching any KZbin video I can find to see how it’s done. And then I will give it a go, gently 😉. I remain really impressed with the value for money in this JA60. After not having played for decades it has given me renewed motivation and joy to play.

I have this guitar. My opinion on it, it's far too light. I would say it ain't more than like 5 or 6lbs. When moving around on stage it can be a bit hard to control your movement with it. The body is much smaller than a traditional Jazzmaster and is made of a lighter wood, so it's not surprising. Secondly, the bridge pickup has a bit too much high mid presence for my taste. Putting high gain through this thing will give a pretty harsh tone, but it can be remedied with a simple EQ. Not that this thing is particularly made for high gain anyway. Lastly, the intonation is not great. It took a little adjusting to get it right, though it's not perfect. Other than those minor gripes, the guitar sounds good, plays good and holds tune. The satin neck feels amazing, and the build quality far exceeds my expectations for the price of it. Took it on a small tour and it held up like a champ.
@shuttervuleinguitarroom Жыл бұрын
I completely agree with you. Saw that if you change pots for other value it can solve problem with harshness. Yes, it is a very very light guitar, bit resontes well. I didn't like smaller body than on jazzmaster. It never sat on my body. But as you said, after all, it is great guitar. Especially, if you look at the price. 😊 I hope that you gonna have many good tours with it. Cheers. 😊

You can play any instrument with any pickup for any music. Unless you are looking to get a near exact tone from one certain song from one certain player-/musician, then you "need" that very specific instrument. I hear pro musicians make shockingly good music come out of everything from cheap €90 instruments to €5.000+ ones.
