I probably have a very unpopular assessment of this. But, I don't think anyone has heard enough to judge the mother. Equally, there isn't enough information to judge or side with the daughter. What is clear is that there is a need for counseling and therapy. INDIVIDUALLY. They both have the right to set boundaries as adults. However, just because you have a boundary doesn't mean others have to follow. At that point, it is your right and choice to walk away, even if you look like the bad guy. And, dealing with that requires a therapist to walk you through this most difficult process. I house homeless. I see abused women, young adults, veterans, seniors, all who have a tragic story that led them to be homeless. It is sad, but at a certain point, each of them must take accountability and cannot blame their parents, spouse, etc. The point where accountability can apply is hard to pinpoint in a 30 minute or 1 hour show. As a community, we need to make information, access to resources easier to access. Easier to stumble across. We need to catch situations like this I. The early stages. And, rather than threaten a parent who is live out the trauma of their upbring, offer or mandate help. There is help. And, there are unruly kids. That requires intervention with therapy. Also, sadly, some of these people have acquired irrational thinking and behaviors because of drug use. And, that's not always a parent's fault. So, as I watched this clip, I saw alot of familiar statements and behaviors. Completely wrong venue for positive and long-term resolution. It empowers and enables the daughter with a weapon to shout back at the mother. And, it pushes the mother to try and shame her parenting, ignore and minimize what she herself has gone through and disrespecting any effort she made from her knowledge base. So, for the mom, she may stop trying. She doesn't want to be bashed. In reality, they both have accountability. They can only control themselves. Start there. Once they identify what brought them to where they are, and choose to do the work to get themselves straight, they will then be ready to come together for family therapy to see how or IF there is a way forward. And, yes. There are services that will pay for housing, re-educate, and work towards long-term stability and success. No one is a lost cause. But, how you come at someone. Judge them without full information, can absolutely make someone believe they are bad and there's no way out. 😢😢 😢 Hopefully, there has been some serious FREE, long-term help, education, therapy, coupled with long goal and life planning offered to this family. 💔💔💔

^see, i don’t understand this mindset. the mother let her daughter be raped and she let her miss out on her education because she was neglected. she then let her be homeless and continuously let her risk being arrested after that, where a record can really affect people’s lives, especially paired with homelessness. regardless of if the girl is disrespectful, the mother has years of making up to do. trauma is not an excuse when you have a child. they are a responsibility, and if she couldn’t give her kid what she needed, then she should’ve had her go to someone who could safely provide care for her daughter. not doing so is both disgusting and cruel, and to use a mouthy kid as some sort of explanation as to why she exploited her? yeah, people are gonna judge. as they should. edited out the many times i wrote ‘child’ in this lol

@@misladybrilla Right, my grandma is old school, she would NEVER lock a kid out of the house. In fact, when my mom had a friend going through a very similar situation as a kid, my grandma took the girl in and let her live with them. It took a week before the dad showed up asking if his kid was ever gonna come home. My grandma freaked out at him wondering why it took so long to come looking for his kid and she didn't let her go with him because she didn't trust him. She said "If she's at my house, I'm treating her like one of my kids, and if my kids aren't home by 10pm, I'm out looking for them. Not looking a week later. She could have been dead. She's staying here." He called the cops on her and they tried to get her to send the girl back home but she still refused. I guess my grandma put up a good argument because they told the dad that they weren't gonna force her out of my grandmas house. I think the girl stayed for a while longer before leaving on her own.

The black community has to not excuse teen pregnancy which leads to situations like this. Teens cannot properly guide another child into adulthood, you need maturity and various skill sets to do that. Having a baby daddy or several is a badge of honor. Bring shame back into the community. Bring consequences back when a teen is failing in school or refuses to attend. Cut welfare benefits off for repeated underage pregnancies. They are several ladies out there with little education, no job and several children..sitting at home waiting for the government to take care of them and their children. Some use these children to stay in the welfare system. It's shameful. I have to get up and go out to work and I don't have a buss down lace front, 12 in nails and spider eyelashes on. I come from a poor family but did well in school so I could have a better life. I definitely did not aspire to be a baddy. She's 18 and if her mother is the worst that still doesn't give her license to do whatever she wants. Everyone is missing that she was thrown out because she fid not want to follow the rules. Out of her own mouth she said her mother is always telling her what to do...an obviously by her choices she needs that structure. I think the mother decided if you don't want to be respectful you have to leave.

This story made me cry bc I get it! I never fully understood the weird dynamic between mothers (not all) and their daughters and the ease that comes with kicking the child out. Maybe it’s “tough love” but I grew up in a family where boys are a little more coddled than the girls. I just wanted to hug the daughter through the screen. I’ve got healing and done the work on myself to allow myself to forgive and love my family with boundaries but it was nothing but God and chosen family that really got me through it. Things are a lot better now but I still find myself watching things like this and remembering all I’ve been through. It’s bittersweet bc I adore the woman I am today and still in process of becoming the woman I know I can be. I still am breaking cycles I aligned with so long ago. I see it in every day life how my dynamic with my parents ,when I was younger, affects me in my adulthood.

My heart aches for this young lady. If you are reading the comments, I pray that God sends you the divine, feminine guidance that you so deserve and are clearly not getting from the current women in your life. I pray that you don’t make an agreement with the things you’ve been told about yourself, because you are beautiful on the outside, and I can tell that you are also beautiful on the inside. You are not the things you’ve done. It’s not fair baby, but pull yourself up, educate yourself, get a real job that you can be proud of, work hard, and put yourself in a position where you can set boundaries with people like your Mom and your Aunt. Prove them all wrong! Because you deserve so much better. I know you can do it. And one day, way down the line, be the mother and woman that you needed them to be.

These “old age parenting” people gotta stop coming on here thinking they’re in the right. To blame the daughter’s downfall and traumatic experiences on her “mouth” and her acting “grown” is disgusting. Teach, talk, and COMMUNICATE with your children instead of cursing, demeaning, and insulting your children for stuff they know nothing about. There’s no way that girl should’ve had to sleep with men at a young age just to get by

But exactly why did the mother put her out...she simply did not want to obey the rules. She did not attend school, was running the streets. I can tell you that if someone did that with one of my parents I would be livid, fit to be tied. I consider this totally inappropriate. She is his granddaughter not his wife or even his next of kin. It’s not cool to take it upon herself to do that. That said if she took it down and apologized then we could try to heal our relationship. I want to believe she acted out of ignorance and not malice but then her reaction to the auntie being upset about this wasn’t one of being apologetic.
