Wrong choice...hope you wake up before your time is over...only Jesus Christ who said: I Am The Way, The Truth and The Life can save your soul...and lead you to the God the Father...and forgive your sins by Grace...in buddhism you have to do it all by yourself, reincarnate so many times before reaching nirvana which is disappearing in the cosmic ocean of all...you have to do it all by yourself...in Christianity it is Grace which saves...a free gift from God which we do not earn but only have to accept with open arms, heart and soul. Thomas Merton was a christian monk who tried to build bridges between buddhism and christianity...hope you will read books by Thomas Merton...have a good journey...

Dalai is like Yoda. A wise guy. I feel like we should have different religion classes in our educational facilities. To find inner peace you have to study/meditate your mind/soul, & body. When I was young I didn't really study...now I study.

Hi Holiness regularly refers to "Indian thought" which is the source of Buddhism. "According to Indian thought, secularism does not mean distance from religion but respect for all religions including respect for non-believers". This is not what most other religions preach unfortunately.

Lol the Dalai Lama has talked about his temper many times. He is absolutely right about how badly we need moral and emotional education in school. It is an incredible oversight that we teach people to acquire knowledge and train them in trades and science, but completely neglect training in emotional stability, intelligence and flexibility, and developing moral virtues, wisdom, empathy and compassion. And we have done so ever since schooling in the Western world really began at the end of the 11th Century - 900 years ago! And all through the Scientific Revolution and the explosion of literacy and learning during the Industrial Revolution, we still neglected it. How else were we supposed to learn these values? So very, very strange. And it has had disastrous consequences.

My favorite professor in high school was Father Joseph Conti. He had me sit in the front row next to seniors who all played sports that I looked up to. The class that I remember most was ethics and morality. All schools should have it, but Father was/is a cool Italian nyc guy that you really respected.

He is seen as wise due to his extreme simplicity, from body language to his speech. There is an expectation in modern society that leaders and powerful people should pronounce their ideas in a complex form, using difficult words, etc. It is the exact opposite that makes us be at peace. Know enough, try enough, don't overdo stuff. Wisdom will follow.

Yes it's all very well but I wish someone would ask him if he thinks the Iraq war went well. He alone of the world's religious leaders refused to condemn the invasion of Iraq. He said we would have to wait and see, it might be a good thing we'll know when it's over. No doubt he is over the same opinion over Afghanistan, Syria or The Ukraine. He doesn't take the same view over the Chinese Tibetan conflict though. He is not counseling us to wait and see as It's not over yet so over yet.
