By the time I was old enough to appreciate music, these guys were part of the kinds of bands I had jumped all together under the label of “oldies,” even if they were only maybe 15 or so years out of their prime. I dunno, maybe 20. But I saw them in concert once, a show that also included Steppenwolf, Nazareth, and Blue Oyster Cult. I think I was 18. The place was packed with people much older than me, seemingly all dressed like bikers. Fairly intimidating actually. But this guy standing next to us with a black bandanna and a long grey beard befriended me and my buddy, bought us beer, and gave us a joint to share with the two girls standing behind us, maybe the only other two people I saw that night who were our age. That remains one of the best nights of my life.

Saw them and almost all the bands coming to Detroit in the seventy's. Worked two blocks from the box office. Would go there on my coffee break when the box office opened. Most concerts were ten dollars or less. Was in the first twenty rows for most concerts.

I would say Foghat is one of those great band that's largely overlooked today. For some reason I always equate them with UFO, another great bands from this time that young people have never heard of. So many great bands from this era! We'll never see it's like again.

This came out the year I graduated High School, 1975. Still have Foghat in my CD collection from the 80s. So listening to the lyrics, What do you think they may have been singing about?? Always a mystery... My mom was an excellent piano player and I listened to about every genre. If the music moves you, if it speaks to your spirit in some way then it does not matter it's classification.
