If the focus of the deck is Ghostricks, and the rest of the cards are there to facilitate getting those Ghostricks, it's a Ghostrick deck. I might also be mad at his deck, but for a different reason. Extra deck monsters are abusable as fuck. This is why restrictions connected to archetypes and/or types and/or attributes are often a good thing. At least this is just Ghostrick in Psychics. It could be a lot worse. I've played against Ghostricks in MD. The best thing the main deck has going for it is a floodgate on legs, but that's why I run Black Rose Dragon.

Turbo'd out the pieces with Treasure Panda. Linked and synchroed off a few of them, drew a bunch of cards, then tributed the last piece for The Legendary Exodia Incarnate. Personally I made an Exodia deck that was mostly Adventure, but summoned all pieces to the board with Level Resist Wall before bouncing them back to hand with Sound the Retreat. I won half with Adventure by itself, half by Exodia, but I called it Exodia because the Adventure part was just an engine.

The combo lines played in infernoble actually made use of infernoble cards and ended on a board that took advantage of what infernoble was capable of. The ghostrick deck on the other hand, used the cards as an engine to enable S0; occasionally ending on the trap. It is like calling invoked dogmatika a shaddoll deck, despite only using a couple shaddoll cards.

Ghostricks honestly is more of a hardleg deck than a MBT deck XD Hardleg actually does "dumb decks" as a regular show. While the brave engine makes me terrified for entirely different reasons (I.e it was Everywhere in the OCG) It'l be interesting to see how/if the list shakes out over time.

I feel like a lot of these people don't realize that this isn't Magic the gathering and there isn't some 5 head combo using cards that were printed years before the sperm cell that made them was even produced that is going to make the deck a tier 0 meta contender. We have a 10,000+ card pool and 70% are horrible either by Konami adding restrictions for no reason, the fact that the word "When" is more horrid than the word c*nt to a Yugioh player's ears or the fact that the deck just sucks which is whats going on here.

Honestly, while I see what these people are so upset about, I still think that Ghostrick is really interesting. It's sort of the yang to PK's ying. PK is a deck with nearly all of It's archetypal cards in the main deck being used to facilitate strong, non-archetypal extra deck cards. Ghostrick, as MBT played them, primarily used strong, non-archetypal main deck cards to facilitate Ghostrick's strong extra deck cards. Now I'm no Ghostrick player, but to me this list is a fascinating case study for a deck that historically never really saw any competitive success, being played in a fairly competitive manner

Like ok he ended up with the ghostrick link, the field spell and the trap that changes fieldspells, all of which will go to the grave cause they are completely useless, to non ghostricks. As a fan of Ghostricks since their initial release I can say whole heartedly that they have always sucked. I thought the video was really funny because it took the ghostrick support and actually made it playable. The deck list was incredibly based. TLDR: If you were really click baiting people you wouldn't have played the ghostrick trap, field spell, or link monster. You could have freed up the main and extra deck with better cards. This is a very much ghostrick focused deck. It just isn't complete garbage.

I saw a great comment on the other video which sums the list up, it was along the lines of "mbt summoned more ghostrick monsters in his first turn of the video than most ghostrick players summon in an entire game". I will say that using lyriluscs and rank 1s to make dulahan is probably better than rank 3 psychics but either way using actual ghostrick monsters in 2022 is a joke considering how the new support was garbage apart from the spell.

As someone who has tried to play Ghostricks competitively from HAT format into Nekroz format, and still trying to make it viable to this day, MBT's take on Ghostricks was a breath of fresh air. It was what I was looking for in a Ghostrick list. I guess I'm a rare Ghostricks one-trick who was impressed by the take, because in my experience, what it takes makes them viable is for them to not play them as intended. MBT's approach towards the deck is pretty similar to mine. Many of the strongest cards in the archetype lends itself to powerful resource loops, and you only get there through making alucard/dullahan into angel. Have you read Alucard? Card doesn't say OPT. It's unfortunate that a lot of the Ghostrick community cares more about the way it should be played, but I get where they're coming from. They're drawn to the archetype for all the parts that make it unviable. They want to stall, troll, and annoy their way towards a low percentage, but satisfying victory. It's to be the underdog, the reject archetype, that has to claw it's way back out of the jaws of defeat just to go 2-X in tourney. It's why they like it, for all it's few strengths and many weaknesses. But I think this is what Ghostricks are about, doing strangely powerful things in an archetype that has no reason to being even close to viable. It's about pushing boundaries of an archetype, even if it means scrapping the original soul of how it used to play. Hopefully those in the Ghostrick community can see it in a new light, that to play the underdog means to adapt and change, and even shift your perspective on what it means to play Ghostricks in order to get by.

This deck uses the most competent cards in the archetype, which are extremely few and far between. Also: Dragma is indeed playing Shaddolls, or is Schism not Shaddoll enough for you? Is Winda not? How about Construct and Apkallone? Naming conventions don't have a requirement on playing at least 12 main deck cards of that archetype, unlike you seem to suggest. Neither does the gameplay have to stay the same as that of shitty archetype cards in the maindeck. Try arguing that a "real" BA deck isn't to be called that unless they play Malacoda, that's about as reasonable as your complaint.

When I normally play ghostrick I tend to try and get out the xyz monsters because they're the only ones that can actually even attempt to attack for lethal damage but because I have ghostrick instead of a brain I'll get there with ghostrick night lockdown rather than turbo-ing them out and also because I'm a new yugioh player and saw a Halloween archetype and knew I wanted to play it

Trains vs earth machine Ghostrick vs rank 3 Shaddoll vs dogmatika Tenyi vs swordsoul Ghostrick could end up being an interesting engine on another deck or even a major component of a major strategy. The only problem is mbt calling his deck a ghostrick deck, when in reality it used a multitude of cards and engines in conjunction with one another to form a powerful strategy. You wouldn't call a deck playing DPE a destiny hero deck and this is no different.

For example, I doubt many people expected Synchro support in Fortune Ladies. I doubt many people expected Ice Barrier to ever cohere into something that wasn't "here, other decks, have some frozen Dragons!". I doubt many people expected Thunder Dragons to expand beyond "deck thin 2 cards, and Fuse them if you're feeling froggy!".

Dawg I’ve been playing Ghostricks for years and the deck you made was the best idea for using the theme in forever. Pure ghostricks aren’t playable, unless they get a total overhaul like vampire. That’s okay though! GT has always been a fun theme to mix with stronger decks and find really cool synergy. Ghostrick Spirits, Dark Creator, Madolche Ghostrick (Trick or Treat) all had tops back in the day and were super based.

the issue to me wasn't him barely using any ghostricks. I thought his list showed off how good the ghostrick engine was in a competitive scenario. the issue is that he called it a ghostrick when it really isn't. It's the same reason some called grass decks in 2018 dino, zombie or lightsworn deck, but they really weren't because they were small engines and not the main focus of the deck.

litterally i'm listening to this and it reminds me of half the other combo decks ever made, they end on 1 archetyple monster and 20 generic boss monsters. Lyrilusc ended on 1 lyrilusc monster, F0, and simorgh Drytron didn't end on a Drytron card, unless they were bad (however most decks this format end with 2-3 archetyple cards on field so this point doesn't fully stick.)

I honestly think that's irrelevant. The point is this: What is the main engine or combo of your deck? The Lyrilusc cards were INTEGRAL to building searching and comboing off. Ensemblue Robin is such a good card that the majority played it OVER revolt. No ritual decks besides Nekroz have ever been NEARLY as competitive or as widely represented as Drytron, where the strength of deck was primarily the Drytron engine being the most efficient engine to turbo rituals consistently and robustly, not the rituals you were playing. Ask yourself this, was herald ever *nearly* as viable as it was was in Drytron in any other deck? I'd hazard the answer is no. Does ending on your archetype's cards make your Board better? If it does, then do that. But if it doesn't, then why would you ever do something suboptimal if the goal is to win the game?

I mean I get it The deck is missing the "soul" of Ghostricks I almost always play meta, I like playing to win. I also like Sylvans and Qliphorts, decks that are pretty rough around the edges when I feel like playing decks I really really like that day. I'll play them to the best of their abilities while maintaining their "soul" and take the L's because I like the play them and their boss monsters. The fact that legit Ghostrick players are malding makes me crack up. I'd do anything to be able to smash Alucard on the board to pop shit again and MBT gave me my gift. Also, I have a soft spot for rank 3s in general so anything that I can mix the good Ghostricks into Imma do it. I remember I mashed Shadolls together with Ghostricks because rationalized (at the time) their flipped mechanic I just way better than Ghostricks and the fact that they are all dark synergies well.

I mean, the ratio of the ghostricks on that list is pretty much the same ratio of the meekest Invoked engine, and in those cases, the deck still gets the Invoked "something something" as its name. It's kinda absurd we do this though, I mean, if we were to do that to every deck with Kaijus in it for example, Kaijus would be the most popular archetype in the game, should we think about how we name decks? Nah, cry about it.

Okay- So I will give the Ghostrick stans one TINY piece of credit- I understand the frustration of having your cards get abused by another archetype- BUT only when that other deck gets your cards banned. I can understand Lyrilusc fans getting mad at Tri-Brigade players for getting Recital Starling limited. I can understand ABC players being mad at everyone for getting Carrier banned.
