I'm not a big VS player but I'm so confused how you're expected to control two characters at the same time. I'm guessing your inputs are just mirrored on both characters? Congrats to Max for getting this out and great job on the video!

It's exactly that, which is why the teams with the best synergy were the ones with overlapping special moves (so you can combo with the same inputs for both characters) but not overlapping supers (so you always get the super you want).

oh, and here i thought it was something completely mind-breaking like "left stuck moves left character, right stick moves right character, d-pad + L1/L2 for left buttons, face buttons + R1/R2 for right buttons" though thinking about it more, that wouldn't work for people who play stick, so this does make more sense

It's almost as if this fight was made by a Strider fan to be cheesed by Strider. No offense to your win or anyone else's or anything, but if the one way that people have found to beat this boss is by extreme spam from 1 super, there's something wrong with the way with how the boss was designed. The original fight was not made to be fought with 2 characters at once and it shows with the base version. And then when you add on whatever buffs Max's team gave to the boss and it's AI, without giving the player any other advantage besides the whole "you get to control 2 characters at once at all times" shtick (or better yet, redesign the boss to be fun to fight with 2 characters no matter which combination you choose), Then you've got yourself a recipe for something akin to Mysterious Figure from Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep (a.k.a arguably one of the most unfun and unfair bosses in video game history, and a shining example of what not to do when designing a boss).

MvCI had like 1300 daily players on steam when this mod came out and it's still hitting like 600 players daily, when before the mod MvCI had like 20 daily players, so I don't think you're right

There's actually a decent amount of people playing it. I was able to get ranked matches online just fine and steamdb says there's around 600-800 people playing since the mod release. Doesn't sound like a lot but for MVCI that's not bad at all especially considering I think this game peaked at just over 3000 people when it was new.
