Kliff teams start hot on offense then regress in the latter half of the season. Every. Single. Year. This goes back to his college days. December football is his personal hell. So I'm with you. JD looks great, but expect massive drop off due to his OC. I don't hate having Kliff there for now, the fit with JD is nice. Having a college-y offense makes sense as a way to transition JD to the pros. But hopefully they have a plan to change OCs or are at least willing to let go of Kliff after year 1.
@philibustersАй бұрын
After having Bieniemy for a year I really appreciate the job Kliff is doing. Its not that Bieniemy really had a terrible playbook, he basically just used teh Chiefs playbook, which is really successful. Its that he didn't really tailor his gameplan for having a young QB (Sam Howell) and he put too much on Howell's lap. Kliff is running a college like offense that takes more off the QB's plate than a traditional pro offense. Last year about half our dropbacks were true pass sets according to PFF, this year its like a third. I feel like Shane Waldron in Chicago is not doing Caleb Williams any favors. Like Bieniemy last year, he is putting too much responsibility on Caleb's plate and while Caleb is talented, he was not ready for it and is struggling. That doesn't mean Kliff is necessarily a better OC than Waldron in all situations, but I do think he is doing a better job of breaking a rookie QB in. The best job I have seen of breaking in a relatively inexperienced QB in teh past few years was how Shane Stichen broke in Jalen Hurts.

I'm very pleased with the Lions defense so far this year. Glad to see the run defense was not a fluke from last year and the pass defense is much improved (still wish we had more pass rush besides Hutchinson), and if Arnold can figure out some of his penalty issues and learn what he can and can't get away with it can get even better. I fully trust Goff and the offense to figure things out though and start converting better in the red zone because they are top 5 in yards but only 16th in points.

I am a Commanders fan. I had a slight preference for Maye over Daniels. I probably followed the consensus view which is that Maye has the higher ceiling but Jayden Daniels had the higher floor. The fan in me wanted to shoot for the high ceiling. Marcus was a bit lower on Jayden than the consensus view though not that far off. He did not see Jayden Daniels as having higher floor, though he was probably fairly consensus on both guys ceiling. Daniels was arguably the most fundamentally sound passer of his QB class in terms of things like footwork and his release. And despite the clip with Daboll on Hard Knocks he has a lot of experience and is effective at studying film. He is older and experienced adn from all accounts coming out of Washington, he prepares better than you would expect for a rookie. Daniels two biggest weaknesses are that he has a meh arm by NFL standards and made very few impressive downfield throws outside of structure in college. But neither of those weaknesses really effect a player's floor, they are more things that limit upside. He is also 4.4 fast which helps a lot because defenses have to stay in pass lanes (which helps the O-Line) and limits the coverages defenses will play against him. That probably also helps his floor because he will get slightly less confusing defensive looks.

This is a sentiment that I hear from those of my acquaintances who are much more football-knowledgable than I, and who believe that most of those who create NFL football rankings (such as this one by Mr Guy) are generally incapable of processing facts regarding current performances, and who are, instead, incapable of moving on from past performances. Well maybe the Niners since they lost again this week 😂 but my point being, you can’t use the logic “we beat them so we’re a better team than them”. Thats not how the NFL works, if you’re watching tfg I would’ve expected you to know that already. Unless you’re just a biased vikes fan, which fair enough if that’s the case, drink that kool-aid while you can bro.

Bryce Young may be a good fit for Miami. His strength coming out of college was his ability to throw with anticipation. That also is Tua's greatest strength. So he seems like he could fit that offense. In the NFL Byrce Young lost his mojo and is not throwing with the anticipation he did in college, but that trait should still be in there. I feel like McDaniels is probably a good coach for developing QB's. I am hoping Tua comes back and has a great career, but if not I do like the idea of giving Byrce Young a try down there.

I was equally disappointed when we went for JD, I have to say the way Kingsbury has worked him into the offence has been phenomenal.

He proved all the doubts I had about him last night wrong. Hopefully we can see his play from the pocket continue to grow exponentially.

The Lions are in a bit of trouble with Davenport now gone for the season, Ragnow banged up for a week or two, La Porta hobbled, Branch concussed. If they drop another game before they meet the Vikes, and with the 49ers and Texans on the road, and Bills and Saints still on the schedule, they could be falling out of the division race already. A lot of people seem to be forgetting what KOC with a QB, and Flores with a healthy defence did to the Packers in Lambeau last season. This seasons QB and roster is better, and Flores has a new bought to order defensive roster that is improving each week. I don't think the Packers will get any closer than the Giants. But there will no doubt be another excuse...

Don’t want to blame Erik McCoy’s injury for the Saints inability on offense. It did look like it affected their gameplan a lot. Good for kubiak to try and have adversity, which we didn’t handle very well this game

I’d add to the criticism of the Browns that even with Watson playing horrifically, the other parts of the team aren’t holding up their end of the bargain. Greg Newsome with a stupid roughing the passer to wipe out an INT, Jerome Ford Fumble in the 4th, Cedric Tillman game sealing drop. The whole team is sucking hard rn.

Think you missed it on the Falcons. They had figured out who they were until their 2nd o-lineman went down at the end of the 1st half. The ranking is fair, but the reasoning is just wrong. They know who they are as a wide zone team with some decent skill players. The real concern is if they can get Dalman and Mcgary back or if they can figure out how to run without them.

The week 1 "let's wait and see" has worn off now haha. What a strange season it's looking like it's going to be. The "we wake up in week 3" Bengals losing to the Redskinned Football Team Commanders of Washington but not Washington Washington D.C. certainly isn't good but kind of should have seen it coming a week after playing the Chiefs. I predicted the Panthers win and made quite some money on it, so that's good.
@raulviera4531Ай бұрын
No doubt I’m a Falcons homer, but I can’t wrap my head around us at 20 and the Buccs and Saints at 15 and 11.. we’ve played the undefeated Steelers, the 2-1 Eagles (who the Saints lost to) and the back to back defending SB champs. The Saints have beat the panthers, and the cowboys who don’t look as good as preseason rankings would have suggested. Then we wanna talk about the Falcons only putting up 15 points or whatever after the Buccs just got steam rolled by Denver? I mean the Saints had barely 200 yards of team offense against the Eagles and had it not been for those turnovers by Hurts that game would not have even been close.

Im actually surprised the Ravens moved up with their actual defense malpractice in Q4 against the Cowboys. Do you have any thoughts you can share about that whole sequence of events and if the Ravens Defense has a serious problem or if you think they'll figure it out? Because ill be honest (and it's really weird to say this as a long time lover of this 'foot on the throat' defensive acumen) When the Ravens have a 2 score lead in the 4th, I feel nervous that we're going to have another catastrophic breakdown. It almost happened this weekend, and it would have actually killed our season Imho. Thank God for 2 icy vein plays from Lamar to finish the game. Goooood heavens.
