This is exactly what happened to me (just a slightly smaller age gap) when I was a tween to young teen. Mine eventually bled into the real world and I ended up being ab^s^d for several years. Until I “aged out.” Watching her do the same thing to an 11 year old who thought the world of her made me sick right before I got left alone. Yeah kelly definitely was not a friend and was a predator. Me catching an old freind doing something similar with roleplays and calling it out/ pointing out how weird and disturbing that was. Years later it dawned on me we were 18-19 year olds and the ppl she kept introducing me to online were YOUNG, middle to early highschool. Me bringing it up and being concerned was painted as horrible and I remember being shamed, she called my ANGRY and concerned reaction overdramatic. And she wondered why i'd blow up at her.....SHE WAS BEING FUCKING CREEPY AROUND KIDS AND THEY TRUSTED HER. What you described is alot like what happned. I moreso came across rp boards long after the rp's were done never really joined big ones I'd do little one on ones with freinds. If Warriors was more popular a bit earlier I probably would've loved those. I remember liking the kinda places you'd find things like Sparkle dogs. The more I think of it I think me just playing around online with little characters of my own started on Neopets forums. I forget if I ever RP'd on Gaia online. I vuagely remember using CHATZY and Skype before those just became barely functional. I know damn well I RP'd on Deviant art for a short stint. Was guilty of godmodding cause I had only child issues BIG TIME so my RP's never lasted long. Bigger ones always intimidated me too. Was never confident in my writing for long term. What became more common for me once I had a tablet and more sites for it popped up was DRAW CHATTING on scribble and Manga masters...unfortunately THERE WERE CREEPS THERE TOO😭

Just know you’re not alone, it’s not your fault, and you aren’t exaggerating! For so long I felt like I was being dramatic somehow. It’s so real and causes harm, often more than we realize.
