know what you mean about bad service in Lanzagrotty. We stayed at a hotel in Playa Blanca where none of the food was labelled so I didn't know what was on offer apart from potatoes, tried to do some toast in room, my partner turned on the cooker and was shot across the room with an electric shock, the waiter in the restaurant tipped his pint of beer over the table as he set it down and just started to walk away. We called him back, asked for another pint and the table to be cleared please. They took the tablecloth off to reveal what looked like a burnt ironing board cover. No apologies, nothing. I would never go there again.

Hi Deano was in Puerto del carmen same time as you went to spoons several times but did not bump into you if i did would have said hello. Thought Spoons was great the staff were great food good fish and chips good steak night 2 steaks and a drink 22.50 euro top place. Went to Black Buffalo for a steak and was not disappointed also went to Top Gun for Sunday dinner wow off the charts and a family on the nexed table the dad had a fish and chips it was huge i said to the wife no way will he eat all of that but he did. anyway glad you and your family had a great time and it could have been worse at that place with the umbrella hitting you on the head they did not charge you for the damage to the umbrella Ha.

Did you ever think of getting your Irish Breakfasts customised? It would mean that your daughters would have more sausage and less black pudding etc AND you would have a proper breakfast yourself. Sounds like a good holiday, though I don't see th epoint of being in self catering accommodation if you wet out pretty much all the time. I did notice that you didn't mention anything about having a traditional Spanish meal. Is that something too adventurous for your family?
