I was very insecure about my lack of hobbies after my last relationship tbh. I felt like a boring person since I’m not really into sports, was only listening to a handful of artists at the time, and was a typical kid in the sense of my forms of entertainment were anime and video games. These last few months have been me trying to discover myself, and it’s been amazing! Found out I LOVE going to the gym, music is one of my biggest passions and I love discovering new types of music, psychology and education are topics I wanna be more versed in and cooking is something I do in my spare time! I love writing so much, particularly stories. It's my favorite hobby. Pro tip: If you don't like journaling in the traditional sense, try writing a story out of it with characters who aren't you, whether they're original characters or existing characters from someone else. I've always hated journaling, but ever since I adopted this method of self-projection fanfiction, I've been able to work through some really difficult issues and events in my life. By putting fictional characters I admire in my shoes, I can see it through their eyes and simulate a fresh perspective. Sometimes even the supporting characters can help too, not just the main character whose point of view you're writing in. This also helps me to realize and accept that these issues and events are real, and they happen to a lot of people. I'm not alone, and I'm strong.

This was me in elementary school..... Not because I wanted to have a conversation with my cats though just because I closed myself off from all humans in my life and so my cats were the ones who practically raised me because of how much time I spent with them so their cat habits kind of rubbed off on me... I like cooking classes, traveling , mixing drinks, I’ve made my own wine, working on resin art, writing. Learning to dj since I like music but don’t have vocals. Honestly I’m just trying random things but I’m drawn to creative ways of expressing myself. I crochet too. Have crocheted for about 25 plus yrs. I was around 25 when I taught myself. It is a great hobby and I'm glad younger people are now taking an interest in the art, because it is an "ART". You take 1 string and make it into a blanket, a hat, stuffed animal, clothes or anything you want. It's MAGIC.

For me my hobby is gardening, I love baking and skating, but those are things that I have to have energy to do. With my garden, it gives me something to care for long term even when I don’t have the motivation to care for myself. It forces me outside and keeps me from isolating myself. I really enjoy calligraphy!!! It’s really calming. It’s not that hard. It only takes a few weeks of practice. When you get the hang of its fun! You only need paper, ink, brush, and a few other things! When I’m annoyed or overwhelmed I always go to my desk and start writing! :D You should definitely try it! Also, I’m Japanese so my English might be kinda bad 😅 sorry if you don’t understand some sentences.

​@@rachelpops9239there is no rule, you just need to know what mushrooms are edible and good. I've been collecting mushrooms in the woods with my parents since I was a young kid so now I know a few. I know that there are books about mushrooms so you know which ones are edible. Google lens can also help you identify mushrooms, but I wouldn't trust it 100%

I found myself a really supportive art community on twitch, and they encouraged me to paint. I didn’t even own supplies, I had really never painted. It’s been almost two years now, and I’ve improved so much. I love watercolor and gouache. Not everything I paint is a masterpiece, but even when I don’t think it’s good, someone in that community always pumps me up about it

I'm very insecure about it, everyone has hobbies that they like to do in their free time, and i mean, I can draw and I have no problem doing it, and I guess I can write too, I like to cook, but I only do it when I'm hungry. I have a guitar that I really have no interest in playing, and I like the piano and I can play a few things but I don't have one, despite all that, when I have free time the only thing I want do is be on my cell phone, my options to occupy that time are none of the above, honestly.

@@patatav7780 I like to paint while listening to long youtube videos in the background. I feel a lot more productive and enriched at the end. Also, you can do things other than the typical art forms. You could try clay sculpting, or some other thing like that to mix it up and see what you like. Being on your phone all day scrolling can be really bad for your mental + physical health, as well as your attention span and mindfulness if you're browsing a short video form site such as tiktok.
