I remember when I was homeless. I didn't steal though. I was homeless for about a year. I was one of the lucky ones. I at least had a car to sleep in. I'm not sad about it because that year made me the person I am today. Thanks for the story Jordan.

I did. Food. Local grocery store. After the worst of it was over, I went up to talk to the manager. Confess and offer money kind of thing. Told me he always knew but he told everyone to just let me go. I cried. Wouldn’t let me give him any money either. I haven’t laid a hand on some thing that wasn’t mine since.

I too had a homeless stint for a about a year, a few really but the year the first time was the longest. I would steal packs of meat from the local safeway or raleys, big packs every few days or week, and spange (beg for spare change) as i called it for money to shower at the local fairgrounds which had a campground with showers fairly cheap at least back then since life is way more expensive now it seems, or necessities i would need. I would work if i could find it, but when you are a little grungy and can't keep up with hygene daily it becomes a little harder. Thankfully i was young enough still and strong enough looking to do any form of physical labor i was lucky enough to find. Never robbed cars, houses or other people , just what i needed to eat to survive. And was lucky enough to pull out with some help and luck. Which made fhe other few instances last less longer and easier to pull out of since i had already done it successfully once. I have no problem giving money out now to those less fortunate and even helping and guving out some work to make a person down on their luck feel some sense of self worth they may be losing as more time goes by situationally. And with the job i have now when i throw away food j double bag it tightly and let the less fortunate i see hanging aroundnor on a daily basis where it is. Every night at the same time i put food out, and as long as no one comes in and blatantly tells my boss i will continue to do so. Not all homeless are pieces of garbage, just humans like us all down on their luck and could use a helping hand, kind words and simple humane gestures. But... BUT... some are useless, some are junkies, some are thieves, and scantless. And in my area the numbers are getting higher in that regard. But i will still help anyone who seems to want to help themselves still. And even people who are still too proud to accept they need the help. Little gestures go a long way, or they can. Be Kind... we are all one sh*tty situation away from it ourselvss. A random death, a random job downgrading, a relationship issue that tears up our heart and minds and emotions harder than others. Or whatever so mamy situations could arise, and most think it can't happen to them, but it can. So as a general rule... be kind, just be kind... it can fo so far.

@@UncleDaddy76 …perfectly said. I hear a lot of the…oh you know they’re just gonna buy beer with that…thing. And? So what if they do? Tell them to try living behind a dumpster and then preach at people for wanting to forget it for a little while. I’d rather they buy food but once that cash leaves my hand it’s not mine anymore. I don’t judge about what it gets spent on. Like you said, life is hard. We don’t have to make it harder for each other.

I really like this story as I think the horror space, more so the "true horror stories" than ones with supernatural elements, demonize or vilify homeless people. This story did a good job being about desperation and evil things done by homeless people without giving off the message that all homeless people are evil maniacs but instead puts them in a more human light while still having horror and bad people.
