I was the one who requested this for you. This is a very deep song, but one of their older songs. They are a Ukrainian band. Her name is Tatiana. That is her real voice with just a little bit of reverb. If you want more, listen to the song Homeback. Honestly, any song of theirs that you react to will be AMAZING.

Welcome to the rabbit hole that is Jinjer. They are a fierce group of musicians and draw inspiration in their music from all kinds of genres. Fun fact, this song was recorded to showcase their new drummer. I had the pleasure of seeing them live back in 2019 and it was awesome. They really have a incredible stage presence, you should check their live version of Teacher Teacher. Two other songs I'd love to see your reaction of is: Spiritbox: Rule of Nines (Courtney LaPlante live one take performance) Leprous: Slave (Live at Rockefeller Music Hall)

More Jinjer and yesterday!!! I started listening to them two years ago and there are still things that she does with her voice that will give me goosebumps, send shivers down my spine and make my eyes water. This song only scratches their surface. This whole band, in particular Tatiana, will give you something new with each song, which as of now might be 40 or maybe 50 assorted official or live videos. Perennial live at Wacken is almost always the second recommendation. It is by far their best proof her voice isn't bullshit song. The third one you should catch is home back. While that one often gets recommended further down the line, it applies to current events in Ukraine, which is where they're from. I've seen a thousand Pisces reactions, and if yours is any indication, you've just uncovered a favorite.

I LOVE the lyrics of this song, it's the main reason why it's still my favorite of their repertoire. In my humble opinion the first part of the song is mainly metaphorical and references the duality of the Pisces astrological sign (I suppose, I'm not into astrology) but the last part is more literal wrt fish life. That's what I get out of it. I also saw some other reaction channel who got some references out of it on the mythology of Persephone and Hades regarding the start of winter. There's so much you can take out of the lyrics, it's poetry of the highest level and written by Tatiana. I'm not a metal head but became a fan of this group and was lucky enough to be able to see them live in the Netherlands ;-) Thanks for a great reaction and welcome to the Jinjer rabbit hole.

Great reaction! That is all her … no voice effects. Although this is a live studio recording, there is post production with her layering her vocals. And her growls get lower. Just sayin’. Maybe consider checking out a live performance or 2, such as Perennial - live at Wacken 2019 (pronounced Vah-ken), or Pit of Consciousness - live in Kyiv. Also, it might help to read through lyrics first until you get used to her growling. 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼

What she's doing is using what are called "false vocal folds" which are above the actual vocal chords. They don't produce a pitch but they let her produce the growls and screams she does. It's an extremely difficult technique to learn. Her vocal chords aren't being used at all to do it so it doesn't do damage to them. There are other women and men who use the technique but arguably she is better at it than most are. Jinjer is from Ukraine and currently the male members of the band are stuck in Ukraine not allowed to leave. Tatiana is in the US currently. A good short list of live performances would be Perennial Live at Wacken Open Air Festival Captain Clock live at Resurrection Fest Who is going to be the one live Pit of Consciousness live

I think you’re talking about mask singing. Just make the nasally “ng” sound to activate it. That enables you to safely add distortion to your vocals and extend your range. Add belly breathing for support.
@coder4liberty
@coder4liberty 2 жыл бұрын
@@richcapo I'm not an expert on this but "mask" is about placement. That's not the same thing as false vocal chord screaming. It's part of doing it but it doesn't use the vocal chords. Singers who do just clean singing think about placement and the "mask".
@richcapo
@richcapo 2 жыл бұрын
@@coder4liberty, I’m not an expert on death growling, either, but I for some reason thought the mask has to be activated to do it safely. I really don’t know, though. I’m just stabbing in the dark.
@coder4liberty
@coder4liberty 2 жыл бұрын
@@richcapo As I understand it the mask is a way to describe what you have to do to keep your vocal chords open and use just the false folds. It's a way of visualizing keeping everything you are doing above the vocal chords to get fry or growl.

The song Pisces is the gateway drug for Jinjer but was only really "remade" to showcase the new drummer Vlad's ability after they lost their previous drummer due to an accident, he wasn't killed thank god, but was injured. Tati has said she didn't want it to be so popular for what it is, but rather is sad that it is so popular when the reasons for it were so different, Pisces people don't like popularity so she says. It's hard to know what the song "truly" means but personally I think it is about how no matter what we do, we seem to destroy that which we love, particularly if it is beautiful. But I am probably wrong on that.

Hi I'm late. Well, everybody here has already explained a bit about Jinjer, so I'll instead focus on the fact that you are quite new to heavy metal in general. So here's a beginner friendly list. If not specified, assume it's the official music video. Here are the bands, followed by the musics by them: Nightwish: Ghost Love Score (live), The Greatest Show on Earth (live). System of a Down: B.Y.O.B, Toxicity, Chop Suey, Aerials. Metallica: Master of Puppets, One, Harvester of Sorrow (live moscow), Nothing Else Matters, Enter Sandman. Pantera: Domination (live moscow), Cemetery Gates. Megadeth: Holy Wars, Peace Sells. Judas Priest: Painkiller. Rainbow: Stargazer (live). Ronnie James Dio: Holy Diver, Don't talk to Strangers (live), Rainbow in the dark (live). And then there's Black Sabbath, basically the creators of heavy metal, and they have way too much good stuff to limit to a comment. Some other time I may recommend some stuff from other genres like Rock, Grunge, Punk, and so on.
@JustJmax

Thank you for this list. I'm familiar with some of the names you listed (Black Sabbath, System of a Down, Metallica) and might have heard some of their songs but can't name any from memory. I'll definitely be checking out more of this genre moving forward and will use this list as a good starting point. ✌️

It's a pleasure to help, after all it's great to expand the horizons of other people with a genre that I've grown up to. Just one more thing, heavy metal can get pretty brutal, and some bands are better to be left to react later, so that's why this above is a "Beginner friendly" list. Reacting to some stuff now can give you a bad impression. Here are some examples of bands to leave for later, when you get used to metal: Slayer, Slaughter to Prevail, Lorna Shore, Infant Annihilator. These are really great, and popular amongst reaction channels nowadays, so you may receive recommendations for them, but leave them be for now.

@@JustJmax Two notes for the Nightwish suggestion - there are multiple live videos of Ghost Love Score and The Greatest Show On Earth. For Ghost Love Score, I highly, highly recommend the official live from Wacken 2013 kzbin.info/www/bejne/gIrNep9-jKd0jNE as their performance there was one of those occasions that everything just fell into place for the perfect show. You could go through the entire set list from Wacken (many reactors do!) and find gold in every song. But if you want to see them in a smaller venue, try the official live from Buenos Aires 2012 (same tour, just 8 months earlier than Wacken) kzbin.info/www/bejne/aofClqKIa9dkitk I would actually suggest checking out a few of their other songs before moving on to The Greatest Show On Earth, simply because that one is a 21-minute epic and I think you might enjoy getting to know a bit more about the band and what they can do before getting into this one. As a side note, this one also has a couple different live videos, taken from two different performances (Tampere, Finland and Wembley Arena, London, England) for a DVD set. There are differences in staging (outdoor vs indoor venue) and in musical arrangement between the two. Either way, don't stop the video before it ends on its own, it really is all part of the song. Tampere (with lyrics) kzbin.info/www/bejne/mJ2ZnYicfrKefa8 and Wembley kzbin.info/www/bejne/p6OwqKubZ96Ua6c

Regarding what is happening now in Ukraine, you really should check out their song Home Back! And maybe have the lyrics pulled up on another screen? Oh yes, regarding the lyrics, Tati said in an interview that she writes the lyrics in Russian first (she's from Donetsk, where most people speak Russian). Then she translates them to English, and somehow the rythm and the rhymes fall into place!

This was interesting. I went to your rock/heavy metal playlist and see only this video listed. If you really want to take a trip, dive into Led Zeppelin, the band considered to be the progenitors of rock/heavy metal as we know it today. First album dropped in 1969 and every song on it is excellent. In fact, as the band's music evolved, they just got better and better, but starting from the beginning is way to "get" Led Zeppelin. :)
