This is a band that tours damn near non-stop. Such hard workers. They have a ton of influences between them: Otep, Lamb of God, Opeth, Mudvayne, Guano Apes, Incubus, No Doubt, Amy Winehouse, Bob Marley, Gojira, etc. Definitely check out more.

This technique can be done over and over without causing damage... only if it's done correctly. False cord screaming and growls can be done by most people; it's just something you have to learn. At first, it's nearly impossible to form words when doing it, too. More complex vocal lines are more impressive from false cord growls and screams... she's one of the best.

Vestibular folds at the base of the vocal cords allow for the growl, and then she uses the regular cords for the clean vocal. Counterintuitively, the harder you push the growl, the less-damaging it can be.

A couple of reactions by people who have backgrounds such that they can explain what she's doing are the reaction to Pisces by The Fairy Voice Mother, and to Vortex (their newest song) by Kardavox Academy. Last time the toured the US and Canada in 2019 they did 42 headlining shows in 60 days, mostly 3-5 nights in a row, and seldom more than a single night off in between. They are doing nearly as many this fall. Got my tickets to see them for my third time in Seattle on October 22. I highly recommend checking them out if there are tickets available anywhere close to you. They are still an up-and-coming band playing intimate clubs but I suspect that may not last long.

Haha nice reaction guys. Jinjer is a phenomenal band, Pisces is actually no where near their best song, it is a great introduction to them for a reaction because of "shock" value, and of course Tati's insane vocal skills. The growls that Tati uses do not hurt, or destroy her voice, they are done by using her false vocal chords, that is how she can switch so quickly between her clean singing voice, and her growling/harsh vocal voice. Jinjer was/is a touring machine, they were doing roughly over 170 shows a year before the pandemic, and Tati's voice is completely normal. She's been doing this type of singing for over a decade, so she's pretty much perfected it in a healthy way. The guys, Eugene (bass), Roman (guitar), and Vlad (drums) are also insanity talented, they sometimes get over looked (not by me) because so many people are focused on Tati's insane vocals. Since you guys were interested/wondering if they performed in a festival, the answer is yes, a bunch of them. I'm gonna suggest reacting to Perennial live at Wacken open Air 2019, as a future reaction, you'll get to see them in a concert setting, and you'll be able to see how amazing of a band they truly are. My favorite Jinjer song is Teacher teacher. You should check out that song next. And yes like everyone else in the comments have said Tatiana is using her false chords to achieve the growls. So, it doesn't damage her voice at all.

The Pisces symbol are two fish swimming in opposite direction, it sort of resembles the yin and yang sign, hence the heavy themes of duality and aquatic references. Tatiana's screams are actually influenced by male vocalists, most notably Randy Blythe from Lamb of God. This live session was actually a re-recording of a slightly older song, specifically made to show off their (at the time) new drummer, who made the song sound quite a bit differently with his unique style of drumming. Screaming correctly and healthily is all about proper technique, if it hurts you should stop doing it, because you're doing it wrong and a lot of vocalists actually permanently fucked up their vocal box that way. You can watch some videos about false cord screaming and fry screaming to understand the most common ones. The drummer before Vlad was actually just a substitute (for another drummer who broke his spine), because he himself could not keep up with their insane touring schedule. Even the couple years before covid came along they had several hundred shows, and she is doing this for well over a decade. I'll leave my usual Jinjer recommendations, in case you want to check out more. Pisces is one of their calmer songs though, their just newly released single Vortex, of the upcoming album Wallflowers, is sort of similar in that way though, but a lot more proggy. The trick to doing this without it hurting your voice, is to not use your voice... you use the secondary vocal folds(false/vistibular folds) which have nothing to do with your speaking/singing voice... and are what are used when you whisper

Yes Tatiana can scream/growl most nights while on tour. I forget the exact number but they did over 150 concerts in a year before the "Scamdemic" shut down live music. She learned the technique beginning at about age 15 and uses the false vocal cords rather than just the vocal chords. If done right this causes little or no damage to the singers vocal chords. I really love their live performances and recommend that you watch, Who is gonna be the one, live.
