Queen is a British rock group formed in 1970 consisting of: Freddie Mercury - Lead vocalist and piano Brian May - Lead guitar and vocals Roger Taylor - Drummer and vocals John Deacon - Bass guitar Queen was one of the most influential bands of the 20th century. They produced 15 studio albums and multiple hit singles which reached gold, platinum, and even double-platinum status, plus played live concerts all over the world to huge sold-out performances (in Rio they performed before 250,000). Each member of Queen was not only a talented musician but each of the 4 members was also a talented composer. Freddie is the composer of Bohemian Rhapsody. It was included on Queen's fourth album "A Night At The Opera" and released as a single in 1975. The song was then re-released in 1992 after being included in the movie, "Wayne's World". You have probably heard Queen songs without realizing that they were performed by Queen. Queen songs are rather ubiquitous throughout the world. Have you ever heard "Another One Bites The Dust", 'We Will Rock You", or "We Are The Champions"? Yes, they were all hits by Queen.

That song was called Radio Ga-Ga written and composed by Roger Taylor and sung by Freddy mercury of course. It became a world wide phenomenon at the AID concert which blew away all other groups attending and performing there. One group even went as far as to try and sue Queen for taking the spotlight away from them when they came on to perform their song list. Which goes to show that jealousy from another rock group would be their downfall soon after. Farouk Bulsara (Freddy Mercury) will live on in the fan's memories as the one of the most unique individuals that helped propel the movement to allow diverse sexuality into the spotlight. Great reaction!! Queen didn’t like to explain the lyrics to their songs and wanted the listener to be able to interpret them. Many people believe this song is about Freddie coming to terms with his sexuality and accepting who he truly was. When he says “I just killed a man” I believe he means that he killed the man he used to be, the straight man he’s been pretending to be. The man his parents wanted him to be. When he says “Mama didn’t mean to make you cry” because his family was religious and maybe he couldn’t be the son they wanted. “Goodbye everybody, I’ve got to go and leave you all behind and face the truth” In the middle section they sing “Bismillah will you let me go, no we will not let you go, let him go.” Bismillah is arabic for In the name of god. Then he says “So you think you can stone me and spit in my eye.” In his Zoroastrian religion, there was a time when people would be stoned to death and being gay would be a sin. The last lines “Nothing really matters, nothing really matters to me.” I believe is him giving permission to everyone to be their true self and love whoever they want because it doesn’t matter. “ Anyway the wind blows.” Listen to the lyrics again and see if you agree.

Still remember my first reaction, when I was in high school in the mid-70s, and this popped up on the radio. Never heard a song like this before, and haven't since

Everyone watches Somebody to Love live in Montreal 1981. They were incredible- the entire concert. Freddie wrote this song. All 4 members had no.1 songs. Nobody can sing like Freddie Mercury did! RIP Genius!

This rock opera was released in 1975. It is still, IMO, the best song ever written. Watch Green Day Crowd Singing Bohemian Rhapsody at Hyde Park (UK) in 2017. that will show you how popular the song is.

This song has always been a favourite of mine. Whenever I go for a drive and turn on the radio, it's guaranteed I will hear the song if I turn it on a channel that plays song from that era. Never fails, no matter the day

Now that you know: What if I told you there was an a capella group good enough to do this song justice with no instruments? They're called Pentatonix, and you have never heard anything like them.

Absolutely love watching you dive into the Queen rabbit hole! Here's a few amazing facts about Queen, the lead guitar Brian May hand made his guitar " The Red Special " with his dad from things around his house like a piece from the fire place mantel. Another fact is each member of the band is a University graduate! Brian May, lead guitar, is a Astrophysicist! Freddie Mercury has a degree in Graphic design. Roger Taylor drums, has a degree in Biology and studied to be a Dentist. And last but not least, John Deacon base guitar, is a Electrical engineer! They're as brilliant off the stage as on it! Keep them coming, please and thank you! 😊

This song is vast and extravagant. A whole symphony engineered into a few minutes. Freddie touches us more in 5 minutes than two hours of listening to Mozart. A case of less is more.

Oh my goodness, I was in grade 5 and 10yrs old when this song came out in Australia. 20 houses on our street, 15 kids and all you heard EVERY NIGHT for about 2 weeks was coming from the houses "TURN THAT BLOODY RACQUET DOWN OR ITS GOING IN THE BIN" from all the dads in the street (including my own😂), until all us kids new every word of this song lol. It sent the world crazy, and everyone was singing it top of their lungs in their cars everywhere you went in Western Australia. We loved Freddy so much. RIP you legend

Loved your reaction, hope to see you do more Queen they made 15 albums together so there's lots to choose from. I recommend early Queen like Stone Cold Crazy live at the Rainbow and Keep yourself alive official video there's a few you already know but probably don't know their Queen songs. Cheers!

The true blueprint of change-ups came two albums earlier "March of the Black Queen", what many think of as the older sibling of this one, it keeps you wondering what is going to happen next (even if it is not the first time you have listened to it).

I am so happy with your reaction because you appreciate the music so much. This song is so complex and sometimes people are so blown away by it that they don't catch all of the complexity going on with the music. Queen had to fight to have this published and played on the radio so it is always wonderful to see someone react to hearing it for the first time. This is an amazing group. I invite you to listen to not just Somebody to Love live in Montreal 1981 and Live Aid 1985, but also Love of My Life Rock n Rio 1985. What Freddie Mercury can do with Stadium crowds of thousands will blow you away as well as how good they sound live. Such talent. It's just a joy to watch.

Yes Love of my life Such a fragiele song, sooo beautiful Don't know if i ever heared the version you suggested, so will look it up rightnow 😉 Thank you!

@@NoblesseObligeify The version of Love of My Life at Rock n Rio 1985 is profound because the audience was almost entirely non-English speaking and they sing the song to Freddie. They adore him and Brian and the size of crowd, well it's astounding. It gives the experience another layer. And because of the crime in Brazil, Queen had to fight to go there. They were warned they would not be safe and the government would not be able to protect them, but they knew their music sold well there so they went and the experience was something unforgettable.

Yes I just watched it. I have no words to describe as English isn't my native language either. 'its lovely' doesn't seem to stretch it Thank you once again I love the version 'live at Wembley ' too. Freddy matured and the song just plays out so well

Another great reaction...the genius, Freddie Mercury..the lead singer wrote this....It was released in 1975....the guy “chillin” is John Deacon, the baby of the family...they had no brothers, but they became a family of brothers...In 1975, Freddie was 29..Brian May (guitar) was 28..Roger Taylor (drummer) was 26.. and John Deacon (bassist) was 24...they were all within a five year age span...if you think about it, they were already amazing in everything that they wrote , played and sang🤩

Freddie wrote it as a trilogy. The lead guitarist is Dr Brian May (astrophysicist). All the guys are song-writers, all sing, and no-one regarded themselves as above the others. Freddie was, in my opinion, one of the greatest voices of the 20th century. He sang ballads and opera as well as rock. He played guitar as well as piano. Green Day play this recording before they appear on stage, and their audiences sing along with it. You can find that on yt.

Several have mentioned their LIVE AID set.. it's a must! The entire group went through hell for 10 years after this song hit big. 10 years and a trip to hell later, their cohesiveness outlived the hell and they were even more brilliant than ever. Sadly, Freddie Mercury (lead vocals) passed from the aids virus not all that long after the Live Aid performance.

This song hit the charts twice in it's life time. The first time in the 70's when it was first released and again about 20 years later because it was featured in the movie Wayne's World. If you watch the clip from the movie, you will see why it charted again same as it did when it first released on the album A Night at the Opera in 1975.

Now for fun, watch the A Capela group Pentatonix's version. Amazingly shocking how much it sounds like this, with voices only! A must see! This group is amazing & it is a miracle that when the lead singer Freddin Mercury died, the group found Adam Lambert to replace him & he does a stellar job on these songs too, so they are still touring.
