UFC Legend and former Lightweight Champion Khabib Nurmagomedov has reacted to the historic Welterweight Championship fight between Kamaru Usman and Leon Edwards.
Khabib mentioned that the fight was shocking to him and the he was honestly a bit upset about the result due to his close personal relationship with the former champion Kamaru Usman.
Leon Edwards sent shockwaves throughout the MMA world with a one-shot head kick knockout with less than one minute in the 5th and final round of the fight.
According to Khabib, a trilogy is already in the works. Possibly at Wembley Stadium in England.

before saturday i would have said. Usman should win any fight with Leon 9/10 times. but after saturday theres all kinds of new factors that we just dont know the answers to. will Usmans chin be the same after a huge KO like that? what about his mindset? his confidence when hes in the ring? a KO like that can change a fighter. on top of that i though fighting in salt lake city gave Usman the biggest advantage in the fight since Usman trains at elevation, we would see Leon gassing as the fight went long. and we did see that. Leon was gassing by the third. so the fact that he still managed to find the finish under those circumstances is even more impressive. and thats another thing that could play on Usmans mind knowing he had the greatest advantage and still lost it. theres too many questions now to be certain of anything where a third fight is concerned.

That would not be a good idea for Usman because doing that could just very well give Edwards the openings he needs to land crisp counters that hurt or possibly even finish Usman again. You can't underestimate Edwards' stand-up, he might be a low volume striker who doesn't have a lot of raw power, but his precision, timing and shot selection is enough to make up for that. Usman has to go back to his wrestling roots like he did in this fight, and spend as little time as possible on the feet with Edwards. Grinding out that decision win might be boring, but its the safest and most ideal path to victory especially since Usman and his coaches now know Edwards can knock him out. There's always the chance Usman lands a shot that hurts or even knocks out Edwards on the feet, but it can't be relied upon because of Edwards' skills and awareness.
