Regarding the realism of Charlie and Nick's communication, I'd chalk it up Charlie having to mature faster to regulate the feelings he had about his harrassment, bullying, and Ben's abuse. As for Nick, this ray of sunshine was raised by Sarah Nelson, we at he fandom just call her Olivia Colman. He has demonstrated a degree of emotional maturity and integrity beyond his years. Its the only explanation I can give.

36:00 This generation really is built different. I'm constantly amazed at how emotionally mature my daughter is for her age (15). Obviously, it depends on the kid because she does complain about (and gets confused by) some of her friends' lack of communication, but they have grown up in a world where mental health is openly discussed, and it shows. With that being said, however, I read once that Alice Oseman writes Heartstopper to educate kids on these things, so yeah, they do have the emotional maturity and communication skills of mature adults. That's probably why us adults love it so much!

as someone who has dealt with (and is still dealing with ) an eating disorder, it broke my heart to see Charlie suffering. I suffer from anorexia and I also binge eat. A lot of people think that ppl with anorexia just want to be skinny and lose weight. And others sometimes view binge eating as a fat person. But there is so much that goes into these disorders. Similar to Charlie, I sometimes eat less as a form of control over my body, and when Im dealing with body image issues. I binge eat when I feel super stressed and anxious as a way to cope and calm me down. People need to look out for signs, cuz if no one notices when someone's eating habits change rapidly, it can quickly become a problem and it is so hard to break that habit

As someone who has had an ED (ana), I totally agree with you. Your ED is valid and nobody should tell you otherwise, especially if they are not educated at all on this subject matter. I never have dealt with BED but I can emphasize with you and anyone else who has struggled with this, since I want to help individuals who struggle with ED’s. Nobody understands that this could be a way to control something in one’s life or there are many things that contribute to one developing an ED, and the thoughts one experiences when dealing with this. Just know I’m so proud of you, you got this! Recovery is not linear and I believe in you! ❤️‍🩹

I would just like to ask, but is it possible to have anorexia without body image issues? I personally had experience with not allowing myself to eat similarly to you, as a form control. As a person who had blackouts from low iron... that's a pretty accurate depiction. Everything sounds and feels distant. One time I was standing in the living room with my (ex) bf and I said "Babe...I don't...feel..." Then everything went black. I heard something scrape the floor. I woke up a bit later in a chair and said "What happened?" and he says "You fainted. I grabbed your arm, pulled out the chair with my foot, and dropped you in it so you wouldn't hit the floor."

I REALLY love that we get to have a discussion about eating disorders without it being “I feel fat” which is no less valid, but to have someone who is going through what Charlie is is going through in this able to see this and feel like somebody has actually seen them. Episode 6 made me cry a bit. I feel for Issac. Being Ace was confusing for me when I didn't know what I was. Not having feelings for guys or girls I thought something was wrong with me. I thought I was broken. Having gained more friends who are lgbt+ helped me figure out who I was. So when he gave that single tear it broke me.

Isaac’s storyline literally means so much to me. I’ve never felt super confident in labeling myself even though I’ve thought that I might be aromantic for a while, because what if I am just waiting for the right person or something. And then I say Isaac’s story and it just felt so personal and I related to it so directly, like I was literally seeing my own experiences on screen, and it was honestly so validating and I felt so much more confident in myself and my identity.

As someone who’s only recently figured out they’re aroace, I’m so happy to see representation in Isaac. You do still feel love strongly and want to just be with people like friends (but a bit more) but with no kissing or sex. When people I love as friends say they fancy me, it kills much of The openness I had with them, like, suddenly you feel you’ve lead them on or now can’t be as friendly with them coz they want romantic/sexual relationship from you. I’m more cathartic about movies and stuff than books but I totally get Isaac loving seeing romance around him but not getting why he’s not like that himself, especially when surrounded by couples and in a world where people are obsessed with pairing anyone with a pulse up.

Im just happy cause they realistically portrayed an aromantic. I had that night too, where i just sat depressed and kept asking myself well i have to like somebody dont i why cant i just be normal etc. It was nice to be seen.
