What other accusations were against him? If they are accusing him of money laundering over £100,000, like you say its the council, they can probably get away with saying they spent 10 months clearing him of that accusation aand double checking it then the other 6 weeks on another accusation or 2. Is there any civil proceedings he can bring against them? perhaps for emotional distress from the excessively prolonged period and a, no doubt, negligable investigation which caused further under hardship and distress. His age should be considered too, to have a 70+ year old dedicated! worker waste 11 and a half months without doing what he clearly loves, demonstrated by him STILL wanting to work there, even after this horrendous experience and during these uncertain times it could have very well been his last before he was even cleared of the accusations. There needs to be harsher punishment for discrimination by an employer, because this stinks of age discrimination.

I was suspended for 11 months which came off the back of a previous 11 month investigation that resulted in no case to answer and no further action. I worked for the Police now taking my former employer to a tribunal for causing me to suffer detriments after making protected disclosures.
