Well done for sharing your story. Your identity does matter, but it’s not about what you consume, it’s who you are - which is a brave, considerate, kind, caring and thoughtful person. Don’t listen to the voices that tell you eating meat is wrong, instead question those morals like you’ve been doing, because you are important and you deserve a long, healthy life without feeling guilty for simply being human and eating what we’ve evolved to eat. God bless you x

I have been vegetarian since the age of 13 ( 23 now ) and i also went vegan for. 2-3 years ( let to an eating disorder - anorexia ). A year or two years ago I started to question my diet as a vegetarian. I ate a lot of carbs, cheese and all in all not good things. At the same time I started to crave fish. Yesterday I made the decision to broke my vegetarianism of 10 years. One day I woke up, didn’t think anything , and then I went and bought fish. I didn’t want to make a big deal out of it. I was also conserved about my identity and I had the same thoughts ( guilt and shame ). I don’t want to stop, I like the tasta and I see myself pescatarian. Your video helped me a lot today. Quit veganism this week after 7 years and now I’ve got so many mixed emotions. I have eaten, pork, chicken, beef and steak this week just as an experiment but I keep asking myself what the hell am I doing with my life, it’s all very strange. Yesterday I had a day plant based as I still want the majority of my diet meat free so we’ll see where this goes. Whilst it’s very exciting that I can order everything on a menu and buy anything in the super market it just doesn’t seem right. No one else knows that I’ve taken this action so no pressure to tell others whilst I’m trying to get my head round things. Whilst I feel evil for consuming animals again, I really need to remember to tell myself that over 7 billion people eat meat

I was vegan for 15 years vegetarian for the last 2. I’m going to start eating meat again. I thought my diet was the most ethical diet and was causing the least amount of harm but I have been thinking about that for the last few years and realized it’s not. The vegan products I buy, tofu for example, kill hundreds of animals in the process to get to me. Not to mention the plastic packaging it comes in that will go on to kill more animals and pollute the planet indefinitely. The fruit I eat coming from another country at times. The tofu being processed in some other country/ region and then trucked to me. Not to mention all the soil my food is grown is has animal blood and bone in it, via the necessary fertilizer. There is just no way to get around death. Every day I’m alive something else dies, many things really, just to support my existence. This is a harsh reality I’m coming to terms with. I feel at this point investing and learning about regenerative agriculture which animals like cows and chickens are a vital part or is necessary. Buying local, pasture raised meat. I will never support factory farming. But I just don’t think the vegan/ veg diet is morally superior any longer, unfortunately. I’m still grossed out by meat tho. It’s been most of my life that I have not consumed it. Getting my head around all this lately. Also realizing that I need it for my health- I didn’t want to believe that either. That's tragedy of the commons, just say you want to eat meat stop trying to justify it by saying because that guy eats meat no reason for me to keep not eating it. You are sacrificing your morals and doing something you think is evil because others do it.

I went through this born and raised lacto vegetarian so no eggs. I had horrible hormones. Depression. I thought I could supplement out of it. I also have hair loss. I had a sick kid for 10 years. I finally made the switch and we both feel so much better. Crazy. It took a long time for me to make this decision. Ultimately it was when I read a fertility book and I saw that huge long list of supplement for someone like me, I found out all the natural bioavailable sources come from animal organ meat especially liver. So my big motivation is to eat the organ meats and get my hormones working again. So far it’s been good but not long enough to confirm everything but I saw dramatic changes after 35 years of strict vegetarianism. You are young and you’re lucky you didn’t have major health issues.

There is so much misinformation here. If you truly care about wasting less resources, you wouldn't eat meat, especially not cow meat. The overwhelming majority of studies rank meat as the least sustainable food. And about the ethical part... What kind of ethical framework do you base your morality on? What makes you think that *not* killing animals deliberately for pleasure is not morally better than doing the opposite? There is no ethical way to produce meat, it always involves killing an animal. It's great that you have the privilege to choose where you can buy your meat. However, most people do not have that option. Make no mistake, there is no humane way of killing an animal, so all those labels of "grass-fed", "local", "sustainable" are there just to cater to the wannabe "eco-friendly" consumers. Being a vegan from a developing country, I have much less vegan options than any vegan in the West. For example, I cannot buy tofu anywhere. I make my own from locally grown soy beans. It's very easy and sustainable. However, veganism will always be hard is you don't care about the suffering of sentient beings. And I understand that, it's easy to follow the norm, it just feels right if everyone is doing it.

Thank you for sharing. I am a pescatarian, who used to be vegan. I originally stopped eating meat, because I had some health problems caused by it. I never really liked it, so it was easy. However, after a while my doctor told me that my vitamin B12 levels were dangerously low and I was about to become anemic. So I came back to eating fish at least. Pretty happy about it, B12 is good, the original problem caused by eating meat is kept at bay as long as I stay pescetarian, I guess. I trully believe that each individual is different and needs to find their own way to a healthy diet and that is why we hear so many different opinions from everybody about what is and isn't healthy. They found their way, we don't need to follow them, we need to find ours.

Sooooo, I still eat as I have my entire life minus the obvious junk like candy, soda, pastry, and ultra-processed foods from boxes, cans, and bags. Beef, chicken, fish, liver, veggies, fruit, rice, milk, butter, cheese, yogurt, eggs, bread, nuts, exercise, and getting outdoors in the sun and fresh air still work A-OK for me 57 years later. I hope you are still doing well. 🙂

Like you explain, I can often feel totally lost... In my case, I live my life relying on the praxis of radiesthesia/dowsing before making any choice. So I asked this question by this mean: "What percentage of animal flesh is it good to eat in my total food intake?" I've been answered this figure: "it is good that animal flesh make 52% of my food". Without the tool of radiesthesia that I trust because I use it every day successfully, I think I wouldn't have tried and would have remained in doubt for many years more, maybe for ever.

Going vegan is easy, but staying vegan is hard because book-keeping how you would get nutrition is quite time-intensive. As for the environment, livestock has a large carbon footprint, so meat-eating is indeed bad in that regard.

I've always eaten meat and philosophically have no issue with meat. But I have grown to think I don't want animals to suffer either. So things like "ethical meat" may be the way forward. Maybe some day we'll get lab grown meat to eliminate the need for animals altogether in the food process. Overall, i think the most important thing regardless of your diet choice, is mindfulness. Thinking about where your food comes from, whether plant or animal based, and trying to advocate for ethical sources. Food is more than the individual, unless you're going to go off grid and become a farmer, and grow your own food, it's a whole community that has to work together to make food more sustainable. Being a meat eater sometimes I think I should take up hunting, because it would actually bring me closer to the animal that gave its life to sustain me. Like the native Americans have thanks to the animal as a part of their hunt, being able to show gratitude may be a way to help me with my own mindfulness.

Can you explain why as a vegetarian you were so scared of deficiencies despite eating dairy and eggs? Your whole point seems to be about concerns of a high carb diet (not inherently necessary as vegetarian) or phytoestrogen (which is a bit of a worry to me as well but the research is still weak so it really depends on the amount of soy products eaten) and supplements (very few necessary as vegetarian unless it was for your particular condition which I don't know) I'm not trying to re-convert you or anything, you can do what you want. However I don't see how eating meat is necessary, I know that nutrition on the internet is confusing but there are some good unbiased sources out there

The "problem" is that there is no "perfect" solution. You might be quite idealistic as a person and thus vegetarianism will agree more with your ideas and emotions while eating meat agrees more with your actual physical body. So there is a clash there. But trying to "eat ideas" will starve your body of nutrients in the long run. So naturally, you need to do what actually works. A wild animal would never decide to switch to vegetarianism. Some see a cute pet dog or cat and then don't want to eat animals, because they love their pets who are animals. But even cute pets eat other animals, because it's what they need and what is natural for them. And they don't feel bad about it. That is also the case for most humans. Most humans need animals as food to function well and to be strong and healthy, and we don't need to feel bad about it either. PS. I was a vegetarian for 20 years.

I can come up with some arguments. Frontal eyes position=hunter vision. Best throwing ability of all living beings. Teamwork tasks=pack hunting Passion for sports and athletes= passion for hunting Even vegetarian women like athletes=they like hunters Babies like meat= babies live by instinct, they are pure, right, truth. Animals will die eventualy in the old age instead of praising and admiring a sacrifice of young powerful, majestic animal. Similar to modern world, full of old sick degenerated people live in peace, dying in hospitals living on pills and therapies. Instead of living like Samson or Gilgamesh. Praising warriorhood, hunting, nature, fresh sacrifices, passionate sex. Most important indicator of torso attractiveness is small gut, small stomach. Herbivore animals have big stomach. Also sick and unattractive people have big stomach, of eating or drinking too much plants. Most inteligent of all living beings= great hunting, playing, the most complex mover, the most skillful Painting long nails in red= primal So you can find reason without nonseeing nutrition elements or science complicated terms.

Why do people feel the need to post that they've given up on their ethics? For the most part a lot of ex vegan and vegetarian videos I've seen amount to "I don't care", they usually abandon their ethical stance in favor of social inclusion or curiosity, which is ultimately selfish.

I am tired of living on unreliable supplements when there are wholistic food sources available.

@@0oohnegative Here we go another half educated ex-vegan -You don't have to be a smarty pants to know that most of the soy is farmed for the animal feed. Actually you are consuming more soy and monocrop by eating meat. So eating grains directly ends the middle inefficient factor. - The entire world can't go grass fed. To just fulfill the meat demand of the US we have to convert the entire North America into a giant grass land if we go all grass fed. Also grass fed meat consumes more water, feed, energy to produce so it causes more environmental damage. Not to mention all the species ranchers kill to protect their cattle while they are the one invading forest area. -Also cattle grazing is one of the leading cause of desertification of Africa because if cattle started yanking out the grass from the soil then the soil goes loose and the water content of soil also decreases. - we have to convert the entire upper sea level surface of the earth to grassland to feed the meat demand of all the meat eaters of the planet (only just meat eaters excluding vegan and vegetarian) if we ban factory farming. -Most of the fertilizer doesn't come from animal corpses but from Russia and Morocco so you don't need animals to grow crops - If the trajectory continues like this and we still keep those 25-30 billion animals in the world and keep breeding them to existence then the green house effect will rise even if we go all evs and stop using coal or gas. -Also if you care about animals which you don't have to just remember dictators and criminals also justify their doing because they portray or pretend that the victim side is dumb or insignificant so they double down on their work because nature works that way but that just brings more suffering to society. But hey you can eat whatever you want. I don't even care if you eat humans. Good luck 🤞
