12:52 I just love this dash with red light for voltage, and green for oil pressure. That's all the "computer" you need in an air-cooled.

I am taken aback that when you did all this- that you DID NOT THINK TO CLEAN THE REFLECTORS, before installing the kit. do kits come 6 and 12 vdc? Am also glad you mentioned cleaning the grounds. This INCLUDES the contacts inside the socket.

Hey Jim, so...for the purpose of the side by side compariaon in the video I didn't clean the reflectors because I wanted it to be apples to apples. Since I need to pull it back apart to replace some gaskets, I'm going to clean them then. But get this...the passenger right rear reflector someone put aluminum foil in there!!! I was afraid to remove it because it might be worse underneath. Hahaha. Yes ob cleaning the contacts and maybe even a little dielectric grease on the base of the bulbs

Oh and yes they have both 6v and 12v kits

Going to bookmark their link so I have it when it's time to reinstall my electrical system... I'm wondering if they also have a bulb to replace the instrument lighting on my Karmann Ghia. Its a huge challenge to see the instruments at night.

What do the Karmann Ghia bulbs lights / holders look like? Given the number of VW parts on a 356 I wouldn't be surprised if they're the same.

@@AtypicalDriver I did a little research after I watched your video. The KG has a 2721 Hella bulb. There is an LED out there but it is not the same as the 356 bulb... I ordered a handful of them so I can upgrade the KG next time I get to see it (it's being stored out of town.). I'll grab the upgrades from your link when my 356 is ready for electrical. I have a ton of metal work to do before then!

@@GregsGarage the dashboard gauges are really amazingly noticeable. I could barely even seem them before, the lights literally did almost nothing. I think you'll be happy when you swap them on the KG (and 356!)

are the instrument lites still dimable? No fog lites?

Yes, they are! Sorry I forgot to demo that in the video but it works great. On the fog lights, my car has some later 911 fog lights so the kit didn't come with LEDs for those. I might try to track down some bulbs though.
