I enjoyed the vs. style comparison of the two keyboards. It really gave more frame of reference for both boards just to see and hear them side by side like this. You should definitely do more. Also, now you're contractually obliged to do the keychron board just to round things out.

I have a Nuphy Air96 for almost 1 year and absolutely love it. Got it for work, cause I type a lot. It was my first mechanical keyboard and I would not see myself typing on anything else. The typing experience is great and I would recommend it to all the people who are going from typing on a laptop keyboard to a mechanical one. It takes a bit to get yourself used to the travel distance, but it's worth it.

I have the NuPhy Air 75 and have done for about a year. I guess mine is an earlier model--it doesn't have flippy feet, but detachable ones that snap nicely to the bottom with magnets. They also conveniently become lost forever within days. It's my "couch keyboard" because it can give me reliable 2.4 GHz connectivity to my gaming/media PC, or bluetooth for an iPad. Also quite nice for travel. It also did not come with any waifu stickers. What the hell, NuPhy. One feature you didn't mention is the hardware mac/windows switch, which I have found very handy. Don't know if the Lofree does that or not.

I got Keychron K5 Pro few weeks ago, with additional layer or sound dampener and lubed gateron brown lp v2, and it's been great. The sound is somewhat between Nuphy and Lofree (quieter than Nuphy, but more clacky than Lofree), but it feels _exactly_ how I wanted it to feel (I love old notebook switch feel, and was using Microsoft Sculpt Ergonomic keyboard for years even though it had awful stickiness issues).

I bought a Lofree Flow after seeing your original video on it and I have to say, its fantastic; got it on sale for around 120 USD and I've been really impressed by it. I thought battery life might be an issue with it because the manufacturer seemed to really stress this 40hr value, however, I've been using it every day at work and at home as my primary keyboard and in the last month + I've not charged it once, or turned it off. I just leave it on in BT mode all the time and toggle it between my work laptop and rig at home. I have no idea how much juice it has left but I wouldn't be surprised if it just kept ticking for months more. I've even been playing games like Helldivers 2 on it and thought it would be a bad experience being a BT board but its actually completely fine and I haven't bothered to reconnect my Logitech G815 Tactile

Great video Hipyo! Bought a Nuphy Air96 v2 w Wisteria switches. I’m not after Thock so can’t speak to that but the 96 size on low profile is a real upgrade over full sized keyboard. It’s a real joy to type on and I look forward to sitting down and cranking out words (not for gaming) and using it for spreadsheets etc. The only downside is there’s a learning curve for feeling the number keys and special keys bc they’re all jammed together for the 96 format, so it’s easy to mistype for a while until getting used to it. Definitely recommend.

Hi Hipyo, Nuphy keyboards have rgb leds under the switches, not only in those little leds. You can personalised it too. I have a Nuphy Air60 and it is a gamechanging when you have 2 pcs in your desk, so maybe you can work on one and then having the other showing you training or whatever. It is cool too to carry it to the office to have your own keyboard only touched by you. It has no weight at all, and it matched my gaming set up with pink leds when keypressing :D

I learned most of what I know about keyboards from your videos. I watch others too, but yours are the ones that made me comfortable ripping a board apart, lubing it, etc. I know where your stand on the Keychron lineup. I run the K3 Pro (the Max didn't exist when I purchased, I'll grab one eventually). I love I mean love low profile keyboards. I actually run 3 types of switches, red, brown and blue depending on the key usage. I use blue for most of the perimeter so I know when I'm on the border. I use reds on all commonly used keys and browns on the ones like symbols that are not border keys or regular use keys. I'm in the 100 wpm club. Not the fastest out there, but the type that gets comments when I type. Love your videos. But I 'am' your nemesis. Lol. I'm a Keychron fan.

My very first mechanical was a Cooler Master SK630 and I LOVED it for years. I had exclusively played on laptops for 18 years and I always fat fingered and messed up 80% of my keystrokes on standard sized keyboards. That was the first board I could comfortably type that was somewhere between a chicklet board and a standard mechanical. after living on that for 5 years and wanting to upgrade to my first custom I jumped onto a full layput Keychron and I've been using that since but I never could have transitioned my muscle memory to a normal keyboard without an in-between switch depth option. These are very much a necissary thing from an accessibility stand point for someone like me.

I travel around a bit and often find myself in conferences rooms on a laptop with a room full of people. Because I’m a diva and can no longer type on a laptop, I decided to get a NuPhy Air75 V2. This was after doing zero research, so I really appreciate this video. I think the look and feel is fine. It was a bit louder than I would like when I’m sitting in a group (I already draw a lot of attention with my laptop stand and external keyboard (geez, who is this guy?)), so a bit of a quieter option would be nice. I’m excited to see that they’re expanding the low profile switch options though and I’m going to try to get my hands on some of those kailhs! Thanks for the rad video, Hipyo!

I have a Keychron K3, which is basically the same as you're reviewing in this vid. I had to replace the Keychron Red switches with Keychron Black, and then with Mint (which is like brown, but the tactile bump is wayyy higher and doesn't feel mushy because of it), because I rest my fingers on my keyboard and I kept pressing keys by accident. I also replaced the function keys and monifier keys (ctrl/alt/shift) switches with Keychron Orange, so I can hear a *click* whenever I press those - very nice :D

I've had the Nuphy for about two months, and have recently tried the Lofree. The Nuphy I really like, but longer term it has some issues. I move my keyboard around a lot, and those tiny little rubber feet tend to rip off easily, so I replaced them with some larger generic feet. I also experience lost keystrokes with mine in wireless mode. Now, to explain, I have tried the included dongle and Bluetooth. I've tried a really expensive powered hub, a high quality cable, and moving my PC to within a foot of my keyboard and plugging it directly into the motherboard... and using any wireless connection method it occasionally drops keystrokes. Wired it works flawlessly. I like the keyboard so much I've decided to keep it and use it plugged in, but in my experience their wireless implementation stinks. I accidentally ordered the wrong Lofree keyboard (I wanted the black one, ordered the white/linear one by accident). I tried it out, and while I REALLY like how it sounds, the white colorway simply doesn't work in my office. I have the correct one on the way, hopefully the tactile switches won't detract from the experience.

@@BEDHEAD947 Honestly I'm a gamer.. so Bluetooth doesn't provide a fast enough polling rate for me. I've been using it with a cord. The main reason the Nuphy was such a disappointment was because I was hoping the 2.4 ghz dongle would let me leave the cord behind.

Great review, as ever. Love the Nuphy! And it also comes in a 96 key version! Yay! But...they are too noisy for my personal situation. I'd like something a bit better than my Logitech MX keys which works fine but has mono backlighting that turns off when you take your hand away...this can be a PITA when gaming in the dark - but it is quietish. I really want RGB shine through caps so I can set different groups of keys to different colors. Thock does not rock for me, though. Now, if I could quieten down the Nuphy to MX keys level, I'd be a happy chappy.

I have owned the Nuphy variant for a few months now and after upgrading the caps to the nuphy all white set, and using cowberry switches.. tbh.. it sounds exactly like the lowfree, however with all of the other benefits that Nuphy provides. At this point.. to make it up to par.. the keyboard ends up costing you about 150$, vs. 120$. Better switches and better caps. It is nice however, that the offer of 120$ is there for others to have a more affordable option.

I have the lofree and got both the linear and tactile switches during the kickstarter campaign. I honestly can't tell the difference between the two switches other than the fact that the tactile is just a tiny bit more aggressive with the spring so I have to push a little harder. Other than that, the switches feel and sound amazing and it's going to really work well in the office since people hated my other mechanical keyboards. They were too noisy, too thocky, too clicky... just too loud. The lofree is just super duper creamy sounding when I put it on my desk mat. It's now my favorite travel and overall keyboard. My co-workers even commented that they now enjoy my typing and that the sound coming from it is so soothing.

Which among the lofree switches is better ? Phantom or ghost ? Looks like no company makes the ideal keyboard for office? Office keyboards should be ideally: 1. Low profile, quiet, yet tactile 2. I CHALLENGE Hipyo to try to mod a Keychron K1 max (comprable to these keyboards) because, every time I have ever taken apart my past 3 K series keyboards, it has ended in disaster. I suspect that Keychron makes these keyboards not mod friendly on purpose, but that’s just my opinion. I just hope that Hipyo will do a video on a low profile Keychron to share their thoughts on it.

I think the serious issue with Keychron is the vast gulf of difference in quality and performance between the regular K low profile range and the K-Pro. Honestly, I had a K1 (now at home) and I cant wait to bin it. My K1-Pro that I bought for work has been stock very nice with red switches for an office job. Needing a Numpad soon so hoping Keychron pull the thumb and make a southpaw K-Pro Low profile, or upgrade their K17 (Nuphy Air96) competitor to the 2.4ghz Max version. I prefer the look and layout of Keychron but Nuphy has been very tempting.

Cowberry switches all the way! I use my Air75v2 as my travel keyboard. Just purchased and built a GEM80 for my permanent at-home keyboard. I love my Nuphy!

Where was this two years ago when I purchased my NuPhy lol I was looking for another low profile 65-ish % wired/wireless mechanical keyboard since desk space is at a premium for me! I was one of the early adopters of the NuPhy 65, and the first thing that I did with mine was to replace the gateron reds that came with it. I know that I will be crucified when I say that after a few switch tests I replaced my NuPhy switches to cherry blues lol I don't know why, but I really like the slightly hollow clack of the blues, and as a career pianist, it's much more satisfying for me to type on a lower profile keyboard where effort and efficiency is prime. The cherry blue switches tell me exactly when the attack on a key has been triggered and the feedback allows me to not have to press as hard when typing faster for longer. I would now like to try the Lofree, but I have a decent custom Anne Pro II that sports gateron browns. I swap between the two every couple of weeks or so depening on how I feel. I enjoy the customizability of the NuPhy at a moment's notice, but you have turned me onto something very comparable for not too too much more! :-D

I love the design of the Nuphy keyboards - I tried the 96 with Aloes but sadly I had the same experience as you - the keys were clacky and loud. I've yet to find a better keyboard than the Keychron K1 TKL with Optical Reds. The switches actuate in the middle before bottoming out, so it's super quiet if you type lightly. It's no THOC though - that Lofree sounds amazing. lol Cheers for the reviews!

Oh wow, i didn't expect to find video comparison of both of them. I'm drooling at the videos of lofree for 5 months already, thinking to buy it, as my laptop keycaps don't react sometimes. But I found out about nuphy customisations and thought, maybe should i? buy? nuphy better? That'd be so convenient for work. after this video comparison i guess I still chose lofree. I won't stand the clicky sound in real life for 9 hours a day.

I bought the Lofree based primarily on this video but it was a mistake. It does sound better than the Nuphy but that's it. Actual function and versatility as well as speed typing goes to Nuphy. Lofree is also not actually hotswapable. It only works with the other Lofree Switches (there's one)

I own a Nuphy Air75 and my friend owns a Lofree Keyboard. I do agree that the sound and feel of the Lofree is more appealing to me. That being said, I have enjoyed my options of switches from Nuphy (if you're wondering, you cannot use a Lofree switch in the Nuphy PCB and vice versa), they're in compatible. I like the different travel and weight options in the Nuphy lineup. If you ask me, I might trade it for a Lofree Flow for a limited amount of time.

I hope the mould situation is in control! I was hoping for you to test out the new cowberry and moss switches. The moss switches had a very deep sound in their video, and I am thinking about getting an Air 60 with them or the free flow. Well, guess I have to figure that out myself :)

All of these are not available as ISO. It seems like the whole world of custom keyboard only exists for the US market :(

Nuphy used to make ISO variants, but stopped this a while ago...;-( Best chanced for low profile ISO-de are Keychron or Sharkoon. But low profile ISO-de is actually the niche inside a niche of a niche. Overall there are some ISO-de options in the custom keyboard market - but it is of course nowhere close to the US market.

I am in academia and do a lot of writing on my laptop. So, for people like me, a low-profile keyboard is much better for easy switching between laptop and keyboard. I would love to see a low-profile keyboard with a knob and a tiny screen on it :)

I got the NupHy air 75 V2 with cowberry switches after I heard them. They are slightly less amazing than I expected, but still fall in the amazing category. I don't know if they are for everyone, but for a travel companion for my laptop, that keyboard feels great. Does not fit perfectly for my laptop in terms of not touching any keys, so I have to lift 1 leg stand. I think this keyboard is mostly aimed at 14 inch laptops.

I’ve put about a pound if silicone sheets into the bottom. Switched caps with those from XVX/Womier, less prone to typing mistakes because more space between them than originals. Sounds awesome for me now with Whisteria switches. Used the little included switch pack to swap space bar for a Moss switch.

I own the Lofree Flow, along with many more keyboards than I really need. Yes, over the last several years I have been collecting keyboards. No, I'm not addicted to keyboards, I can stop whenever I want. Setting that aside for the moment, I mostly only use 2 keyboards now: the Cidoo V87 and the Lofree Flow. The former is a "normal" mechanical keyboard that sounds and feels amazing. The Lofree Flow is a low profile mechanical keyboard that feels and sounds amazing. I do most of my work on the Lofree Flow and I do most of my gaming and browsing the internet (and typing practice) on my V87. I've tried a bunch of other keyboards but I just prefer these 2. Look, I understand why people like the Nuphy, I really do, but it just doesn't thock as much as the Lofree Flow. One might argue it doesn't thock at all. And the Lofree is smooth, and I swear it's been getting smoother. At first it took just a tad more force than I prefer to press down each key, but now it feels about right. Since I have other keyboards for comparison, no I didn't just get used to a heavier stroke. It really did get smoother. Imagine that, a keyboard that feels BETTER as you use it. I don't know if this was helpful for anyone, but I'm one of those people who didn't know he was an audiophile until I splurged for an expensive set of cans (headphones). I didn't know I was a keyboard elitist snob until I started watching Hipyo's channel. I promise, if your fingers can feel the difference between a mushy, mediocre mess like the... other keyboard mentioned in this video, the by all means, you should try the Lofree Flow.

I’m not a huge low profile keyboard guy (I also prefer full travel mx style switches over long pole), but I will say, for the masses I’m surprised that we’re still stuck on using polycarbonate topped switches in so many prebuilts. I really think the vast majority of folks buying prebuilts would much prefer something like a gateron milky top housing (which would still support some RGB shine through) or an opaque full nylon or POM top housing. It surely can’t be cost holding them back (gateron milky yellows are some of the cheapest available). Hope that at some point there’s at least more options for more non-polycarb top switches in the prebuilt space!

I would buy the Nuphy for the cute anime stickers. I would buy the Lofree for the clean look and sound. Too bad it doesn't have a 2.4 GHz wireless. I just finished my first custom keyboard. It came out very nice and I didn't have any problems building it but it was a Group Buy and it took almost 5 months to receive it. Not sure I want to do that again. Thanks for the video.
