Dr Einat Wilf talks to Ollie about how the hypothesis that land/gestures for peace could result in a peaceful settlement between Israel and the Arabs has been empirically disproved. Together they discuss what needs to be done to tackle the roots of the Israeli-Arab conflict, the need to keep UNRWA defunded, as well as the antisemitism and ignorance around the world.

Such an important video. I admit that about a year ago I use to go to protests with a shirt that says “looking the occupation in the eye”. I believed that with the right leaders and a lot of hard work - peace would be possible. And then came the 10.7 attack. And I saw Palestinian hatred manifest into something so monstrous, so horrifying that it left me speechless, hopeless and forever changed. You cannot witness such evil and not go through a change. It’s impossible.

Alas... so many rejoice. U chose to go to a protest without knowing facts thus contributing to colkectove trauma, death and persecution of the true victims. What allowed you to fall prey to such lies?seek within. And welcome to awakening.the only other victims are the children of the haters.. who dont know better.

This was clear to rational people from pre 1948 but I can understand how some people convince themselves of anything in exchange for hope. Jared Kushnir serving under Trump was the first political leader who understood that the path to a better future lay not in the Palestinians or in appeasing Iran, but with the Sunni gulf states. Alas, the American Jews still supported the Democrats who have taken the middle east back down the old dark path.

I turn 44 today. As a somewhat aware adult I have witnessed the tail-end of the 1st Intifada, the start of the second, the second war on Lebanon... till today. I always wanted a Palestinian state AND a safe Israel, but after choosing violence every single time my simpathies with the Palestinians are gone. They truly want the Jews exterminated and they are not even subtle about it.

@mdmommy The narrative of the media, probably. Not everyone learns this in school, and this conflict is so complex and historically charged, you won't understand if you do just a little research. You have to really commit and do *a lot* of very detailed research (history of the region, political entanglements of organizations like the UN, influence of religions on the conflict, identity and ideology of the individual groups, details of warfare and military statistics, human rights, definitions of words like genocide, occupation and apartheid, history of attacks and who started what in reaction to another attack, the mindset of Hamas with willingly endangering their own people, etc.) - that much research takes time and an open mind. Not many people choose to do that in their free time when it's convenient enough to protest 'against bombing' and 'for peace' to feel like a good person, without understanding any of the political background. I think it's admirable the OG commenter openly admits having been wrong and having grown so much as a person. A single protester cannot do much harm - now the person will be a thoroughly informed advocate for the other side.

I think in previous generations and there was less of an echo chamber. You had some Palestinians who dogmatically wanted to destroy Israel and you had some who were more modern thinking less dogmatic and we’re OK to work with and for the Israelis but overtime that second way of thinking, evaporated up as Gaza and the PA became Echo Chambers and fewer and fewer Palestinians had interaction with actual Israelis.

They created the Christian religion to conquer the Roman Empire , it worked so well that they conquered Europe and soon the world . Christ is the jewish Messiah , his return means the death for all non-jews : they want the whole planet all for themselves , and only keep a few of us as slaves : that's what every single rabbi says, , not only extreme of fringe ones . Belief in Christ means that you are a willing slave , that you want to be a servant to these monsters : they ALL think that non-jews (= 99.9 % of the planet ) are sub-human animals , and that only jews have a soul , our gentile souls come from absolute evil : that's why they MUST clean the world from us non-jews .

I'm from Croatia, and as a Christian I say, we should not take the fall for what those two merchant tribes are up to. Let the two merchant tribes brawl it out among themselves. Israel can easily win if other countries didn't get involved and kept Israel on a leash. It's like someone wants to prolong this war for as long as possible. Taking a more defensive stance requires more weapons than just going offensive and taking care of business.

As a Christian born and raised in Morocco in the 60s and 70s I would like to share my testimony about my upbringing and my experience among a society shared by mostly 3 Communities ( with the exception of some animists Berbères ) : the Muslims , the Christians ( mostly Catholics ) and the Jewish . We were taught in my family to respect and interact and with all members of the said communities without prejudice and we in fact did ! We went to school together and shared festivals and foods and there was no political debate among us nor in our family . This all changed after we moved to France in the mid seventies when I started attending a grammar school . This is were I learned that I was potentially a “ fascist “ or a “catho “ ( worse than being just a Catholic for some reason 😅 ) in the schoolyard !!! A Communist student was present at the entrance of our school most of everyday distributing pamphlets to encourage us to participate in political meetings held at school ! I personally saw him as an old unhappy/ angry soul and never attended any of the meetings . However the pressure was such that I did change the way I dressed to fit into the leftist mold and started to learn about different causes especially that of the Saharaouis and the Palestinians because they were pressed in us on a daily basis . There were regular petitions in the streets of Paris for these causes . As an adolescent you do want to fit in and be considered a “ good person “ fighting for the right causes . Be “ morally “ correct . Unfortunately ( or happily ) I am now realizing that the narrative they fed us all these years is biased and wrong and that the teachings of my parents were right . How I wish I could speak up for Israel without being called a fascist and a colonialist every time I try to share my thoughts on this issue . God bless us / you all

I have heard people saying essentially that the Jewish claim to the land of israel is illegitimate because the British didn’t have the right to give it to Jews. Interestingly, I haven’t heard anyone say a single peep in the same regard about what is now called “Jordan.” Hmmm…. I wonder why?
@gg_rider
@gg_rider 3 ай бұрын
The British only halfway "gave it to the Jews". More lies. One, the ENTIRE land was never inhabited by either Arabs or Jews. One map shows spotty settlements of Arabs in green and Jews in blue. The main color is white, nobody. Two, it was NOT sovereign territory of the residents. It was territory of the Turkish Empire, down thru much of Saudi Arabia, until the Turks ceded it to the British. The British DID have the right to divide the land .. that's how they created Jordan, on 75% of the land that they were allocated to manage. 2.5 the Arabs did not have a state and had never constructed a sovereign state, so the whole point of the British being there was to help them, which they did. 2.6 Even with help from the British and French, the history of Syria after World War 1 was building alliances and breaking alliances, and military coups and forming a new Republic with Egypt and abolishing that Republic, bitter rivalries between the Iraqi baath and the Syrian baath parties, Three, when the Turks were in control for 400 years, the Turks sold or gave some land to Jews. So did some Arabs. So did some British. Fast forward through decades of fedayeen violence and k__ng. The British had enough of Arab mob violence, so they REVERSED all their policies about (also) helping Jews as well as Arabs, and clamped down on Jewish migration in 1937 .. effectively they were assisting the Nazi Final Solution by blocking Jews from escaping Europe. Jews began to join the Muslim methods, by deploying limited violence against the British. After World War 2, British packed up to go home, without creating the state of Israel. Brits punted to the United Nations. The UN proposed the 2nd partition. The British wave goodbye on May 13th. Israel declared itself into existence (it had already been functioning for 9 years) on May 14th. The Arabs launched the war on May 15th. All they know is, Balfour proposal, British present, presumably a functioning Arab State existed until the British help the Jews break it, and everything began in 1948. Photos of British Palestine maps and a British Palestine airport and British Palestine coins prove that "the Palestinian people" (who rejected that identity until 1964) were a thriving independent sovereign society and nation long before the 1948 war. Total malarkey.

If the British didn't have the right to give it to the Jews, then what right would they have to give it to the Arabs? The fact is, the British had no such right. They were given a trust by the League Of Nations to see through the establishment of a Jewish state. It was a responsibility to be carried out under Int'l law. The British reneged and tried to give it the Arabs, who BTW, called themselves the Arabs. BTW, what gave the British the right to divide up Greater Syria and create Palestine and then trans-Jordan? The Arabs complained about it. They said there was never a country called Palestine and they said they themselves were Syrians. What gave the Arab muslims the right to invade and colonize Jerusalem and put a mosque on the Temple Mount?

I feel like Jews who settled the area then called "Palestine" a lot of times got the land that the Arabs themselves saw as valueless. Yet the settlers transformed the land, turned desert into fertile land using water irrigation, and built cities on sand dunes. This is what has made it possible to sustain a growing population, of all ethnicities. Then the Palestinian Arabs come and claim all this, that they themselves didn't put effort into, but nonetheless just benefitted from - via trade with Israel. Stating that they have a right to the land as a people and a nation. When their leaders can't even get along. My conclusion is that if Israel would ever go away, then the area would collapse and cause suffering for millions of people who aren't prepared to run their own country.

Einat is of the belief that Islam _can_ change, though not that it will change anytime soon. I think it was Haviv who talked about an Islamist party in Israel that was the most militant, but the leader completely flipped to the reverse. In a nutshell, that Israel exists so that is the will of Allah. There's a short video on Twitter of a Saudi man saying the same thing, for a variety of his own reasons, that Palestinians have no legitimate claims on anything, and he calls them despicable, not just regarding Israel but overall.

For me, It’s refreshing that a leftist could analyse and come to this conclusion; to see what is obvious to the people on the right or religious. It’s not about poor, dispossessed ‘Palestinians’ and victimhood, it’s fundamentally about Islamic conquest since 7th century. I recently read the autobiographies of Ariel Sharon, Benjamin Netanyahu and Ehud Barak and garnered helpful insights to this conflict. I am amazed how many on the left in the west and tragically even in Isreal are naive and support the false premise of Arab/Palestinian propaganda against the Jews. I mean Sharon pulled Isreal out of Gaza, Barak withdrew from Lebanon and the violence has paradoxically escalated, yet Barak would want to handover Jerusalem to the Arabs, still believing that would solve the problem. Clinton was flabbergasted when Arafat said Jews didn’t have a temple in Jerusalem historically! Thats how much they can lie and propagate it if it serves their purpose-Taqiya.

That's if you want to consider that the Jews are the true religion. But they're a religion. They're one story of many. And a story of justification for taking land just like the colonizers who used the Bible. BUT, if you remove the idea that their God is true one then it no longer matters. It comes down to the FACT that no matter who you are, you are NOT an owner of any land in this world, you INHERITED it and your people most likely conquered it, too. So neither people in this day and age could use history to their favor. They're both descendants of common ancestors. And here we are. The real question isn't who's right, it's how can this be resolved without either group being marginalized? The current war will make the matter worse. Netanyahu doesn't think so, but 70% of Israelis do think so. With a new leader, they are hoping for less collateral damage, peace deal, and hostage release. The problem is the collateral damage has increased the support for HAMAS. How will this play out? I have no idea.

Back when I was a leftist with "compassion" supporting Palestinians in the American streets, I too was under the delusion that they ONLY wanted a chair to sit down, a place to stand, a sovereign state with self-rule. That is what Dr James Lindsay characterizes as the Motte and Bailey propaganda strategy, stating the "reasonable" view when confronted and defensive, then reverting to the unreasonable insane arguments when in safety among comrades in the lush valley. I was unfamiliar with the semantics and history of the so-called "Palestinian identity", so I could not grasp that the subtext of that identity, an identity (Palestinian) that they REJECTED in the 1930s, really meant nothing less than "annihilate all the Jews" and "Khaybar, Khaybar.." or at bare minimum, totally abolish Jewish sovereignty and self-determination on even one square kilometer of that land area ... ... With the underlying argument that "Mohammed said so" though Einat puts less weight on Islamism and more weight on other intersectional Left ideologies.

Thank you, Ollie and Dr Wilf for you great conversation. Long live a strong and vibrant Israel! There is much forgiveness and repentance needed from and for many early Christians and some present day Christians regarding the dismissal and derogatory perspectives on the Jews, and the sometimes devastating destructive results of those perspective. I am a Jew who converted to Catholicism through a many decades long journey that is much too long and convoluted to describe here. I have learned that there are some contradictory ideas that have been around since the beginning of Christianity. I know Catholics who believe that the Jewish people AND ISRAEL, itself are ESSENTIAL to the culmination of humanity's redemption before the Lord. In fact, I read a book several years ago (darn, I wish I could remember the author or the name of the excellent book), written by Jewish convert to Catholicism, who stated what many, many present day Protestant Christians and Catholic Christians believe: that it was necessary, in God's redemptive plan, for the Jews to be the last to accept Jesus as Messiah, otherwise the Gospel would not have spread to the rest of the world, but would have simply become a Jewish sect, kept apart from the rest of humanity. I will stop here so as not to become too verbose. One of my main points is that history and humanity are very complicated and beware of making over-simplifications and over-generalizations. I, as a Christian and a Catholic, stand strong and firm with and for Israel and in deep faith in God, the Almighty! Amen

The Christian Bible literally only speaks of all good things Jewish! The books are all scripture wrote by Jewish people in the land! It’s crazy to me how many issues it’s caused to our Jewish friends! I am disgusted by it tbh! It’s done so much harm to them, we must ask for forgiveness for our early Christian church that did these things to them! Wow! Makes me feel sorrow that it went this way and we see the damage it created when Christ came for the complete opposite! I pray for the Jewish nation to rise above all of this as they will and always have !

I love this great advocate for the Jews. I am a Christian and understand fully that the Jews belong to Israel. I support and respect Zionism. I don’t think she is right about the Christians overlooking the Jewish ruin as something essential to Christian theology. The reason the Christians did not build a church on the Temple Mount is that Jesus, the Jewish Messiah, told His Jewish disciples and Apostles that after His resurrection, the Holy Spirit of God would dwell in the believers’ hearts, not in a house. We, the church are the temple of God because when you believe that Jesus actually rose from the dead, God sends His Holy Spirit to dwell in you. It is out of respect for Jewish tradition and God that they would not replace the temple.
