The new version is a disaster... no option to save the canvas with high quality (SVG), pictures are not loading properly... what a sh*t. It's useless to me now.

The ruler, the speed, the interface of the old whiteboard was absolutely necessary because that software was used *in realtime* for teaching. Now this is impossible. So I have to uninstall the software (software that is now simply ad add on to Edge browser chromium based)

I also find that it takes much longer to load whiteboards than before, and they still don't have an "offline" mode

I ALSO FIND THERE IS NO COPY AND PASTE, RULER TO DRAW GRAPH AND SADLY I CANT ATTACH THE PDF FILES FOR ONLINE CLASSES. SO SAD AND NOT HAPPY WHILE USING THIS NEW WHITEBOARD. CAN THEY REVERT THE FEATHURES AGAIN.

With the old version you could export your templates in .csv files, but now you can't even edit your old templates :(

FYI it looks like Microsoft Whiteboard team listened to the comments. They have reverted to the older (better) version. Only by the notes in external documents, it looks like they plan on still adding the new features, but likely without reverting previous functionality. (Disclosure: I work for Microsoft)

There is currently an undo feature and you can copy/paste. You can also lock items. I’m frustrated that I cannot find a way to duplicate a board that I’ve created.

Ok as of July 2023, Copy and Paste works again on Windows using Ctrl + C & Ctrl + V. Also Ctrl + Z works again. Right click to bring up a menu whith a clear canvas option. Ctrl + Z will undo.

The new whiteboard is the worse. The width of the pen is too narrow for number 1 or too width for number 2. It crashes and hangs all the time. It lags. It doesn't always recognize my surface pen. The previous one worked just fine and I used it everyday in my classes. It's just so infurating.

They have recently released another update but I‘ve not checked yet whether this feature has been brought back. From what I‘ve heard so far Microsoft has done a good job bringing some features back, but there is still work to be done.

If you don’t see the documents icon you probably are not working with the latest version of the app. Maybe you work for a company who’s not upgraded to the latest release? Otherwise you can google how to update microsoft whiteboard version. That applies if you are on desktop, because on mobile I don’t see the documents icon either

Whiteboard is at the heart of teamwork. MS Teams is marketed as the go-to tool during the pandemic in terms of team collaboration. To me it looks like a no-brainer to put a lot of effort into this product. This looks like a half-baked project of a grad student who moved on and forgot about the whole thing.

With all the respect to those working on this project, I agree they did not run a proper test phase before releasing it. The fact that they are rolling back the previous version shows they are listening to the customers and are willing to take a step back. Making mistakes is human and admitting them shows good will.

UPDATE: Microsoft announced roll back to the previous version of the Whiteboard for the Windows app! Whiteboard on Teams and mobile will instead hold to the new version UPDATE: Copy-Paste is BACK! I will add to this comment as they keep fixing it

Yes but the app is very slow, the pen traces are modified in realtime according the “application tastes” , svg exporting is gone… in a word: this app is useless for teaching

As you noticed we already have copy paste back, and so much more is coming soon. In the meantime, we are rolling back the Windows app for all users to the previous version until we address your feedback. Teams, Web and Mobile will continue to use the new features like Templates for those who like it.

LOL, no, nothing is fixed! I think they are pushing towards you using their other apps. Visio maybe? I'm not sure. Looking at MIRO though. Very sad. NO TABLES anymore. SO MUCH IS JUST GONE! It was so nice having everything on a digital white board. Microsoft really must be lead by morons! In the real world, we need ONE APP as our go to white board. It should be the LANDING PAGE for your day with your outlook, calendar, to do list, ideas, clip art, well, everything! It could become a true virtual desktop!!!!! Such a shame MS misses the boat again!

What could be done to improve the situation. I reinstalled OS, upgraded to SSD hoping to get the problem right. But the problem continues to be there. Please guide. You video seemed to be very sensible. what are the other online board i can use. One note is not very comfortable as MS whiteboard

@@EnricoZamparo How do you do spellcheck? I get the red wiggly line indicating it is spelled incorrectly, but I cannot right click and change it to the proper spelling. Also, there are not as many options for color pencils (no green) and the text boxes are super hard to size.

hahahahahaaaa they removed that copy and paste feathure because I(and many other people like me) wolud just draw some dots and start a loop of copy and pasting them again and again and just crash the servers, thus they had to remove those functions for drawing and so for notes as well as they have the same kind of code in whiteboard. Now they added feature like auto correct on pen mode which makes the drawing on a pc with a mose very poor but for android users on a android tablet makes the user experience flawless! therefore they made it so that the new android app for microsoft whiteboard available not only for school and work accounts but also all other types of accounts. The ruler is gone cause drawing apps or say note note taking apps on tables don't include it as rulers mess up the drawing system there. see this is what they are going after all the wrtiting stuff you do it on tablets with a pen and typing on notes you do it on pc or a laptop, it even syncs between the very well. Thus this update for me had been a very good one! and for the only pc poeple using the app i am very sorry for you.
