It's honestly such an amazing movie, and it shows the actual complexities of having amazing moments and also very dark moments in life. How you can bounce back, and that it will take time to recover from trauma but you will be okay in the mean time. Super underrated in the YA fiction and teen movie world I feel.

I read the book in sixth grade, and as a person that had gone through some of the same struggles Charlie, Sam, and Patrick went through, it honestly hit really hard for me. Definitely my favorite book of all time, although the movie was equally as good as the book. If you can, get the book and actually take your time to read and understand it, because you can go deeper and deeper into Charlie’s mind.

This is still one of my favorite movies of all time. The acting all around is fantastic of course but I really think Logan Lerman deserves endless praise for his performance as Charlie. As someone that was also introverted in that era of my life, who struggled with social anxiety and depression, watching this movie in high school was the first time I felt seen and heard, that I wasn’t alone (minus the sexual abuse fortunately). He’s a great actor and I believe to this day that he depicted the struggles of that specific mental illness in the most honest and brilliant way :’)

This movie was on my “To Watch List” pre-motherhood - glad I found it thrifting. I watched it twice and was drawn to it and found this clip since I’m wanting someone to connect with. Thanks for doing the reaction to it & keeping it shorter. My points of interest: - I was a senior flirting with a freshman during One Acts, but nada came from it that year. How her friend just assumed the girlfriend role and steam rolled the nice-guy... beyond me. - All the flashbacks built that suspense and when the leg rub leads to the discovery 🤯 - I used to ride on our water tank like they did in the tunnel and pretended I was riding an eagle. ❤️ - I’m glad the wallflower was picked and displayed. 💗

This movie is one my favorites, I can quote the movie by heart I’ve seen it so many times and I still cry each time I watch it. I could talk about this movie for hours especially the ending! I’ve seen people say the ending is bad because it’s anticlimactic but I kind of think that’s the point (the book is similar in that way) the ending isn’t supposed to be this big exciting moment but its supposed to leave you with a sense of hope that yes life is hard and it takes time to recover from trauma but ultimately life gets better and I think that’s a beautiful message. That Charlie knows he’s still going to have bad days but he also knows he’s not some sad story and he’s infinite

To me the best acting in the whole movie was Candace saying "Charlie" in this panicky voice just as he hangs up. She has acted like the older sister who doesn't have to pay attention to her annoying younger brother, but she actually knows him so well, that after a few sentences on the phone she has her friend call the police.
