A lot of people hating on the 19’ live action and I get it, however context is key… Walt Disney himself said that he wants his films (mainly the classics/big hits) to have a re-make done every generation, so that the new generations can enjoy the films like the previous did but in the form at is popular/common at the time… By doing the CGI version too, Disney were able to learn what went well, what didn’t, where they need to improve and if it’s even worth it. The re-make made billions and so on a business POV, they’ll be fools not to follow it up and they have said they want to create a Lion King Universe, similar to that of Star Wars and Marvel. And so, the 2019 CGI re-make was a way for them to say “hey, this is what we’re doing now” so to speak.

As you can see the original (a retelling of Hamlet) is far more superior. The CGI-heavy remake has no reason to exist and has been universally hated due to its lack of originality and lack of anthropomorphic expressions on characters' faces.

Just by watching the trailers even you can see there’s vars improvement, which is great to see. It’s also an original story and so doesn’t have the presume of having to live up to its predecessor….as there is none. With that said though, if this new one does flop (it won’t make billions like 2019 did but they know that and that’s not what they’re basing it on) then that would most likely spell the end of TLK re-makes, even if an original story.

@croceyzx2433 Overused CGI improves on nothing. It's nowadays an excuse for laziness. Are you also ant-2D? Apparently, at the same time, you ignore the fact that the 2019 film lacks originality and anthropomorphic expressions of character faces. The new cast tries way too hard to imitate the original cast, Scar is now more of a yeller, the identities of the hyenas are changed (due to the "modern audience" finding Ed offensive), and overall is meant to manipulate you. Oh yeah, and "Be Prepared" is no longer a song. The remakes are all terrible, being milked constantly. They can go rot in hell. I'm encouraging kids to watch the original movies and to ignore the new ones for morality's sake. Also, if you want to see a better Lion King spinoff than this 2024 movie, go watch Lion King II: Simba's Pride.
