Oh my god the fact that Fall is produced by Buzzfeed makes it so much funnier. My sister and her boyfriend watched it and called it the most nonsensical movie ever made lmao. They gave me a full plot rundown where they screamed about how strange and terrible the decision making was the entire film

see with Dear David, I have a theory: Adam Ellis is I think semi-well known for being a comic artist from Buzzfeed that nobody liked the comics of, for being bland and unfunny and uncreative, until he left Buzzfeed and was allowed to do what he wanted with his comics, which made people realize "hey this guy is actually kinda good" so MY theory is that Dear David might very well be an attack piece against Adam for having left Buzzfeed and IMPROVED, lowkey smudging up Buzzfeed's own reputation.

i remember being on twitter when Adam first was doing the dear David thread. I was very gullible but he is also a very talented story teller and the medium of twitter was really the best way to tell this story. I had my notifications on for him just to see the latest. I think he started the trend of twitter story telling, there were a few others I saw after that, especially on french twitter, that were mimicking the style. Anyway. Good shit!
@WickedKatze
@WickedKatze 7 ай бұрын
I dunno if I'd even call believing that "gullible"; credulous maybe, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. It was a really well-crafted story with excellent visual aids, and for someone who's open to the existence of the supernatural, it's totally understandable to believe it.

Buzzfeed was the worst employer i ever had. I did location audio, and the producers kept making fun of me because i was tired from juggling 12 hour work days and having a newborn son at home (with gf). They kept making remarks all day, and when i started to ignore them, they talked to the higher ups and got me fired from that set. I still got paid and only returned for 1 more production. After they wanted me to stay over 12 hours with no pay on the 2nd production, i never went back after it wrapped.

The Pharmacy scene in Puppy Love was so damn funny. This and Ex-mas are both "movies I watch with my partner because I make her watch dumb artsy shit" and thought they were both "cute". The Fall is decent as well but the "twist" was a little too telegraphed and I wish the budget was just a liitttllleeee higher cause the CG takes away from the spectacle of it all.

people never seem to get that a bad film is good for the same reason a good film is great - it has personality and soul, these films are technically polished with writing teams and everything which makes them super boring, if they just had one crazy and deeply invested guy calling the shots they might not be as polished but they'd have so much more soul and be so much more entertaining - the room is a classic example.

Man... that Book of Love movie is just, makes 0 sense. I am a writer but I haven't had one of my books published, let alone translated, BUT, it feels weird that 1) He had no idea that his book was translated into Spanish until his publisher (I'm assuming) told him like huh? 2) This one sort of connects with 1, but the fact that she just... changes his book entierly so it's not his like, that feels incredibly illegal in terms of like copyright and all that. Is she getting paid by the publisher? Or is this like a fanfiction thing and then it just sort of ... took off? Who knows! 3) The fact that he doesn't have social media. And this isn't to say like "everyone has to have social media!" but to be an upcoming author you have to have social media tbh, because you have to sell yourself. I just... AND THE MOVIE WAS CO-WRITTEN BY A NOVELIST! BUDDY!

Bruh you didn't even mention the whole "oh no his book is about chaste, pure romance and nobody in the US wants that so it sold two copies" thing. There's a huge amount of romance novel fans who prefer clean romance. I mean the entire Religious Romance subgenre is pretty much by definition chaste.

@@FrenkTheJoy 1000000% the sort of non-smutty romance stories are still enjoyed by a lot of people. Like, I get that yes, it's a fictional movie, it's not that deep. But come on, there has to be some sort of realism.

Waitwaitwaitwaitwait… did they just get every guy from the CW Arrowverse to be the leads? I’m only up to the “Exmas” section of the video, but Robbie Amell, who is Stephen Amell’s (Oliver Queen) first cousin, is the male lead for this movie. Robbie also played a character in The Flash/Arrow, he was Ronnie Raymond/Firestorm. So, out of the first 3 movies, TWO have Arrowverse main character actors as their leads… that’s weird. Especially because they were both really good as their respective characters. I mean, no shade to Grant and Robbie, get that bag, but they deserve better quality roles.

10:21 - a better approach might have been to open with the main character explaining her scholarship to another character who is rude and dismissive about esports (a blind date, an older relative, whatever). That way, the audience would still get all the necessary context, but it would be integrated into a scene.
