Not only that, but it's also a lesson in how NOT to care for someone with dementia. They're constantly going through identity crisis and reminding them that they're losing it and of past trauma is just torture
@thegrimlooper
@thegrimlooper Жыл бұрын
@@msjkramey I was a CNA & hospice nurse for a few years. I always taught my new coworkers that the dementia patient is basically suspended in time. Sometimes they have moments of clarity, other times they’re existing in what memories they have left. There were times they thought I was their mom, or sister, or even someone bad- but in that moment, that IS THEIR REALITY. that is what they are seeing, reliving, remembering, reminiscing, etc. Denying that can cause them to get angry, because they’ve already lost themselves & the ability to even go to the bathroom on their own. It is not hard to give these people understanding, dignity, and respect. (And I had really violent patients as well, but if you genuinely are kind & compassionate to these people, you can provide them momentary solace.)

okay I know coming out of no where and not to justify but I think the ending of Slaughter Rule and why he goes back for Gideon is because that's exactly the cycle of abuse and loss. He goes back to the train track to where he lost his father, in extreme emotional pain and loss but we know that despite everything, despite the grooming and abuse he goes back and saves the one person he craves to fill that father role. It's not a satisfying ending of someone getting revenge but a true look at how abuse and someone struggling tend to deal by going back even knowing that they shouldn't because there is something there they feel they are missing.
@nikkicarreon
@nikkicarreon Жыл бұрын
Totally agree, but the thing that bothered me and I didn’t end up showing here was how sunshiney the final scene is when he leaves Gideon and he’s at the hospital, I know it may not be realistic for everyone to get their karmic justice but it left me feeling bitter and maybe that’s because I see myself in Roy
@Unhappytimeaper
@Unhappytimeaper Жыл бұрын
@@nikkicarreon I’m well aware a lot of people have gotten burnt out too of the “but it’s realistic to not get Justice” troupe too, for good reason. I fully get not liking the ending I think I can just somewhat see why Roy would have gone back knowing the mental state he was in through the film and the overall bleak tone it seems to want to have.

24:19 the creator of the Dungeons and dragons game was incredibly antisemitic, but also had a lot of knowledge on judaism which is why his antisemitism in particular is so disturbing, and he inserted this into D&D. Makes sense that it was suggested after that movie.

The poster he was putting up has historical and political significance. First time the Olympics were being broadcasted live on TV, two black men put their fist up in protest for human rights issues that were going on at the time. People freaked out the same way they freak out about people taking the knee during the national anthem. These two runners were disqualified from the Olympics and ostracized by the public. Today, they have a memorial statue, I don't remeber where

I was disdainful toward him for years because I really don't get what makes the "hottest male celebrities" so hot but that was without watching the better part of his movies and going by how much The Notebook sucks but yeah....I finally got to some of the most acclaimed this year and I get it now. Let it be a lesson that just because you don't find an actor as attractive as everyone else thinks, doesn't mean they're just coasting on their looks alone. He really is a great actor. Many of his scenes in Lars and the Real Girl, Blade Runner and Barbie especially truly hit hard.

I mean I wasn't ALWAYS A Fan but I get why some people find Ryan gosling hot or really hot cause I agree. I think he was great in the notebook and it was the movie that made him an a list actor. But yeah after that his movies got better and I love his range as an actor. Still think he's one of the hottest male celebrities too😊

when you were describing the plot of murder by numbers it sounded to me like it was inspired by the case of leopold and loeb and i did a cheeky google and apparently it was! they were basically two arsehole (possibly fruity) teens who were obsessed with the idea that they could pull off the "perfect" murder i.e. not get caught but spoiler they got caught ❤❤
