As someone who's been a Pistons fan since the 1980s and watched what this man did to Andre Drummond for years I can say with confidence that it IS NOT that Joel Embiid baits fouls but his constant pretending that he just got murdered when fouled especially when his team is up big. A part of the Embiid hate is dissatisfaction with the state of officiating. The level of protection on driving players is pretty ridiculous, and Embiid is completely ok with exploiting that for all its worth. If the league stops granting fouls for those who drive into their defender and then flail, Embiid will become a much more satisfying player to watch.
@peamut5473 ай бұрын
Exactly lol. If you drive into the paint you should be ready to take contact. If the defender hits your shooting arm or clobbers you, then it should be a foul, but touching legs/torsos on a drive should be a given.

A contact against a moving defender is not always a foul. Its about if the defender moves towards the offensive player, about angles, how far the arms are out and about the area of contact. A contact shoulder vs. chest is just a foul if the defender moves forward, not even if he moves sidewards. If the defender is not perfectly straight its not always a foul. The defender is allowed to lean forward very slidely (I think it was 15° angle). The defender must try to be straight. If the defender squads to jump, its also an allowed natural movement. If the defender tries to adsorb contact with one arm attached to chest in the post, its not a foul. Even if the shooter makes contact to the shooting arm. Also you can have both arms in front of you like elbow wide. If the denfeders arms are in that position before the shooter starts his motion it is not a foul! Thats what I remember a few years ago. Also we were teached not to call And-1s as long as the foul was not creating too much impact!

He’s my favorite player but even I know that he should understand why he is disliked by the common NBA fan. However, I’ve always been a “don’t hate the player, hate the game” type of person. People can get mad at embiid all they want, but if he doesn’t get those calls from the refs he wouldn’t keep doing it. Same thing w James harden, Chris Paul, D wade, Kobe, Etc. These guys do things like the rip through because they are given the call time in and time out. If you don’t like it I completely understand, but I think only calling out certain players for doing it is dumb. This was a great non biased review about a very controversial part of his game. Does he exaggerate sometimes and get a better whistle, absolutely and it’s dumb. But a damn good amount of the time he does get fouled and should be on the line. It all depends on the playoffs now at this point. He either has a chance to become our Eras Dirk by winning a championship which erases all of the past or another Harden who puts up endless stats but just couldn’t finish the job.

He's hated for his foul drawing BECAUSE HE GETS A BETTER WHISTLE THAN EVERYONE ELSE AND CONSTANTLY FLOPS WHILE DOING IT. I can go through every game of lebrons last season and show u hundreds of examples of contact just like embiid had in this video that were not called fouls. One of the greatest players in history doesn't get the benefit of the doubt on some contact on drives, but Embiid who isn't a 3rd of the player gets every benefit of the doubt possible. It's maddening how much the refs coddle Embiid.

Embiid's playoff free throw rate is actually higher than his regular season ftr. So his lack of playoff success is not because he's unable to draw calls in the playoffs but more sp because of bad injury luck.

The reason Embiid hasn’t had postseason success is down to two reasons roster constructions and injuries. That’s it. Last post season he had one good leg and one good eye. He still tried to play. The team couldn’t hold the line.

People hate Embiid because he "foul baits" but every big time scorer in the game does it. What Id like to see happen is the NBA take out the "rip through" fouls and the Trae Young, Jalen Brunson stop and jump backwards into the defender type fouls. The NBA said they were gonna stop calling those fouls but they never actually did. I'm not saying we go back to the 1990s rock fight basketball, but things could be better. I personally liked how the game was officated in the Olympics a lot better.

As a Sixers fan, I get the criticism of Joel. I do. All he needs is one run. One amazing run. He knows it. We know it. He hears it everywhere. People who dont like him, won't ever like him and there's nothing he can do to change that. They made up their minds. He can only control what he can control. His goal is bringing a championship to Philadelphia. Only time will tell if he suceeds. This is the best roster he's ever had. Let's see what happens.

I don’t think Joel is ever surprised with a team he plays against a lot to have issues with him. It’s more with how everything he does ppl only want to see the negative side of it and they are so happy to try and put him down. I really think it started with him being in Philly since there’s always some love lost for the city but then because he’s so talented but knows how to work the whistle like every star tries to do.
