i always found it weird how the movies made it seem like hermione and harry were best friends more than ron and harry were because in the books harry was annoyed at hermione like 90% of the time and he clarified many times that ron was the glue of their group because he connected very well with both hermione and harry. they even cut out the part where harry tells ron that after ron left the tent harry and hermione barely spoke for weeks and it was very awkward between them because without ron they didnt have much to say to each other. the director was weirdly obsessed with hermione and her character so he gave hermione a lot of rons qualities and lines and made it seem like she was harrys best friend when in reality harry was borderline in love with ron lmao

honestly, if Harry Potter was being made into movies today and they kept the fundamentals of how the different relationships within the trio worked, then I feel like so many people would ship Ron and harry together, since the internet goes crazy for those kinds of male bonds. but, since the movies came out so long ago and were made the way they were, harry/hermione and even harry/draco are more popular ships because they really didn't show why Ron and harry are friends in the first place, instead making hermione harry's closest confidant which just isn't true

I don't think it's bad writing per se. I think it was a necessity for the film. He provides the comic relief that is missing from all the other parts that were taken out of the book. We don't see nearly as much Fred and George or other humorous side stories and Peeves was written out completely. I do take issue with them giving Hermione parts that they could have easily (and rightfully) given to him, though, that made him seem more stupid than he was.

It's not really a love triangle in the movie, though. I don't think they always did a good job at conveying that it was just friendship. With the Dark Wizards killing Muggle families, Hermione thought it would be safer for her parents to forget about her, which is why she wiped their memories of her. She then sent them (in the book) to Australia. The lore does say that she found them after everything had settled and she restored their memories. Similar events played out for Harry as the Dursleys also went into hiding. As they were leaving #4 Privet Drive, there were two scenes that were cut from the film that I feel should have been left in. Harry speaks to his Aunt Petunia in the living room: She starts by saying, “I have lived in this house for 20 years... and now in a single night I am expected to leave." Harry tells her, "They'll torture you... If they think for a moment that you know where I am going, they'll stop at nothing." Petunia looks at Harry and states, "Do you think I don't know what they are capable of? You didn't just lose a mother that night in Godric's Hollow you know, I lost a sister.” Also in that scene, Dudley and Harry share a goodbye. Dudley tells Harry he doesn't think he is a waste of space! My theory on that is I think that Dudley did remember Harry saving his life from the Dementors two years prior... and he wanted to thank him. If you want to see the cut scene, it is here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/oKvOdYWwbdaogdE In the books, it is covered that both Harry's wand and Voldemort's wand are "twins" because they share the same core... a phoenix feather. Not just *any* phoenix feather either... Both feathers came from Dumbledore's phoenix, Fawkes! Because the wands share the same core, neither one can really best the other. So Voldemort became obsessed with finding a wand that could beat Harry. At first, he borrowed Lucius Malfoy's wand, but when that didn't work, he decided to go after the most powerful wand ever created... the Elder Wand (which is one of the three Deathly Hallows... 😉) Yes, Voldemort had his snake, Nagini, kill the teacher. Charity Burbage was the Muggle Studies professor, which in Voldemort's "Pure Blood" world was a waste of time. Wizards are wholly superior to muggles in his worldview. You can also see that all three Malfoys are not very comfortable anymore. In fact, they all look terrified of their "Master"... especially Draco. All of the younger wizards that volunteered to "duplicate" Harry were all of age (17 and older... yes that included Ron and Hermione). Harry hadn't turned 17 yet at that time. They used a Polyjuice potion to transform. The whole plan was to have the duplicates leave a false trail so that Voldemort wouldn't know which was the real Harry and where they were moving him to. Yes, I agree the sweeping shot was a pretty cool maneuver! I loved Fred and George saying "We're identical!"... when we already know they are! Just goes to show their humor! Even after losing his ear, George still made that silly joke about being "Holey..." Kreacher had helped Regulus Black to get the original locket from that pedestal in the cave. As house-elves have their own very strong magic but are compelled to obey their masters, Regulus drank the poison so that he could then steal the real locket and replace it with the fake one, but as the poison made him very weak, he was dragged down to his death by the infiri. Before he died, he ordered Kreacher to find a way to destroy the real locket. unfortunately, he was unable to do. Horcruxes are protected by very strong dark magic (which is why they used the Sword of Gryffindor later on to destroy it). When Mundungus stole the pretty bauble to sell on the black market, he had no idea what he had in his possession! Fortunately, the trio were able to get it back! The reason Harry snapped at Hermione for "not doing enough" was b/c he was wearing the Horcrux locket at the time. The sheer amount of evil in it slowly affects the wearer the longer they have it on (so why didn't it appear to affect Dolores? My thought is that she was already evil... in her own way). Once Harry took it off, as you heard, he said he felt "loads better". It is also the same reason that Ron gets angry at Harry and Hermione later on. Ron was already worried about his family, and as he wore it, he also began thinking that Hermione was cheating on him with Harry! Harry and Hermione are just very good friends! The dance was just to cheer her up... there is no "love triangle" in the books. Harry is in love with Ginny! Bathilda by now, as I guess you figured out when watching, was already dead. Voldemort had Nagini hiding within her to ambush Harry... as he knew that Harry was likely to show up in Godric's Hollow at one point. Harry had the Horcrux on when he went to try and retrieve the Gryffindor sword! Had Ron not shown up at that time, yes... Harry could have likely died! Having Ron destroy that Horcrux was the absolute best thing that Harry could have done for him... as it had affected Ron the most when he took his turns in wearing it! Dobby's death really was awful! I blubbered so hard when I read it in the book and again when I saw it in the theater! 😭

Dobby was kind of the black sheep of the house elf family... He actually WANTED to be freed (and I can't blame him). They're freed by being given clothes (his master was tricked into giving Dobby a sock in book/movie 2). All other house elves REALLY don't want that and fall into a severe depression when freed; they like serving their masters. i couldn't stop laughing, I love your reactions. Just to answer some questions: Hermione (heather) is muggle born, that means she is a witch although her parents are muggles. the twin wands mean that Voldemort and Harrys wand are made with phoenix hair from the same phoenix, so they don't work properly when they go up against each other. that's why Voldemort needs a different wand. Harry and Hermione are best friends she loves Ron and Harry loves Ginny (Rons sister). the other House elf is Kreacher. Harry inherited him along with his house when his Godfather died.

They couldn't have summoned brooms to leave the ministry for a couple of reasons. First the ministry is a government building where magical criminals are brought to trial all the time. there are spells on the building that prevent people from magically exiting it except for a couple specific points of egress So attempting to summon anything into the building would be useless. Secondly, according to the books, Hermoine was never comfortable on a broom. So on the rare occasions she rode one it was usually behind someone else like Ron. Flying on a broom and playing wizard's chess would cheer Ron up because it proved that she wasn't absolutely gifted in everything.

The reason Harry, Hermione & Ron didn't use a lot of magic in the Deathly Hallows is because their magic was being tracked. All kids under the age of 17 automatically had a magical trace placed on them by the Ministry Of Magic. Even though Harry, Ron & Hermione are 17 they correctly assumed that the Ministry Of Magic, run by Voldermont's followers, would be monitoring their magic usage, which would reveal there location.

No, they were all at least 17 and no longer had a trace on them. None of their magic was being tracked. Every single time they moved camp they used magic to set up protection charms, but they were never found unless they were outside of the charmed area (which is how Ron found Harry) or if they said Voldemort's name. Voldemort's name was taboo, so saying his name would alert him to where they were and it would break any special enchantments that were hiding their location. I think the movie just doesn't explicitly tell you when they are using magic, especially with Hermione since she is really good at nonverbal spells.

Harry isn't the greatest wizard that ever lived. He's an okay wizard, a very average guy. He has become good at defensive magic and offensive magic due to having needed to defend himself so much. The point of Harry is that he's not super powerful, but an average relatable kid. They can all do magic, but so can every other wizard- so it's not like Harry can just storm through the ministry firing spells at people. That would be like firing a gun into a crowd of armed people- you will get shot. And if it wasn't for the unique relationship between Harry and Voldemort, Voldemort would wipe the floor with Harry without breaking a sweat.

Someone probably already answered this in the comments, but as to why Harry didn't just summon his broom in the ministry or other situations why they don't just use magic - Keep in mind that when they are in that world, everything has magic. So, the ministry of magic building has magical security which probably includes some type of restrictions of unauthorized modes of entry or of summoning objects. Think whatever type of security a building like a capital building or the pentagon would have. Note that they went through the already established (and gross) flush yourself in method of entry to the ministry building, instead of just apparating straight in, which would have been easier but was probably not possible. Assume that when these high school kids are dealing with adult, seasoned wizards, that whatever Harry and crew can do, the bad guys can do, anticipate, and counteract, and usually better. Magic doesn't give much of an upper hand if the people you're up against are also using it. Hope that helps! Love your channel!

Oh Billy, the scene at the VERY beginning when Hermoine uses Obliviate on her parents, it's for protection purposes. She took their memories away of her so they wouldn't be hunted down. I believe they went to Australia too. It's not mention in the books, but after the war, she does find her parents again and restores their memory, so they do reunite at some point. Also, one major thing that also happens in the beginning in the books, Dudley actually shakes hands with Harry right before they leave as a way of thanking him for saving his life in Order of the Pheonix. The things left by Dumbledore- the thing Ron gets, you saw that in the very first HP movie. Dumbledore used it to take away the lights on Privet Drive. I know these small details can be hard to remember, but I just wanted to let you know in case you feel any sense of deja vu. Do you also remember Fleur? She was in the Goblet of Fire, the only Female Champion who was in the tournament? She actually made a reappearance in 6th book, but they did a decent job implementing her here as Bill's fiance/wife. Dumbledore's Back story is revealed a lot in the 7th book, but they only briefly mention it in these 2 movies. I don't know if you got it with this movie, but in the book, the Necklace Horcrux has a negative effect on whoever is wearing it, and it affected Ron the most, so him blowing up like that in the movie, it was more of the horcrux's influence. I guess it's safe to say this now, but you were right about Harry and Voldemort being related, but they're more like Distant Cousins. That tale of the 3 brothers- well the 2nd brother with the Resurrection Stone, Voldemort is a descendent of his. You have seen the stone already too, in the 6th movie. The stone became part of a ring and Dumbledore is the one who destroyed it in between the 5th and 6th movie after finding it in abandon house that Voldemort's mother lived in. And Harry is a descendent of the 3rd brother, who had the invisibility cloak, which was given to him Via Dumbledore his 1st year for Christmas. So it's fascinating that someone Harry had all this time is considered a legendary object. Oh I guess you missed at the beginning how both Harry's Owl and Moody were killed when the Order try to get Harry to the Wesley's house. It's why Harry tried leaving on his own there. Here's something interesting on where the movie ends- we're actually 2/3rds of the way through the book. The halfway mark book wise was right after they get the Sword of Griffindor.

Hey Billy, thank you for uploading and continuing the Harry Potter movies! Cant wait to see what you think of the final film😁 About how Harry didnt know the story of the 3 brothers if ur curious; to be fair, Hermione/Heather didnt know about it at first but the book Dumbledore left for her in his will is actually a collection of children's stories well known to wizard children, hence why Ron knows it, cuz his mom would read it to him and his siblings when they were young. Harry and Hermione grew up with the common fairytales we know. There's this hilarious conversation between Heather and Ron when its brought up in the books: “Ron, you know full well Harry and I were brought up by Muggles!” said Hermione. “We didn’t hear stories like that when we were little, we heard ‘Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs’ and ‘Cinderella’ -” “What’s that, an illness?” asked Ron.”🤣🤣

Magical traveling is a bit weird. They have apparation which they explain and show in the books but not much in the movies. There are places you can't do that in and out of. The ministry of magic and hogwarts being two of them. Dobby however can apparate out of those places because his elf magic is different. There isn't a spell you can use to transport/teleport somewhere else that I know of haha

So, the reason why they don’t use magic or certain types of magic in places like the Ministry is because there are things called wards preventing that. So apparition which is basically teleportation, they can’t do that, there’s wards against port keys which are devices which teleport you farther than apparition can. Also, there are detection wards for certain wand signatures. Each wizard has their own wand, so each one has a signature and they can detect that. They’re the bad guys and they are armed to the teeth to defend against people who would go against them.

Billy, baby, the reason it seems like Heather does everything is because IRL the screenwriter I think preferred her in the books so gave a lot of what Ron does in the books to Heather. That’s why Ron just seems… useless sometimes. It’s incredibly infuriating when you play too much attention to it in the films.

Welcome to Harry Potter and the Camping Trip. I will agree, it was very slow, but also kind of necessary. The book holds a LOT of detail, and even with two movies they left some things out. LIKE: Voldemort punishes Wormtail for 'letting' them go by having his own silver hand strangle him to death. I guess that was a bit too dark 🤷‍♀ Still love that you call Hermione Heather. You're completely right, this is no action movie, it's a build up for the second part. The book is even slower. They are isolated, freezing, rather unkept, and they are almost constantly hungry. (Magic has it's limits. One can't conjure up food.) They are often bickering and searching kind of blindly. It's heartbreaking, and it is slow. That's what makes it even harder on these kids. It seems neverending.

Billy asking for brooms the entire film is crackin me up! Like why would they just have brooms on them while they are traveling, especially during a war and it's best to travel light. Also the brooms would take away from this chase sequences, plus I assume the brooms are used more when you're younger cause the older you get the more ways you learn to travel or apparate without having to fly everywhere.

Don’t worry about the the whole wand thing. The reason Voldemort says he and Harry’s wands are twins are because the magical core is a phoenix feather. Both cores came from the same phoenix. It’s better explained in the books. Most wands have cores made from a phoenix feather, unicorn hair, or dragon heartstring. That and the kind of wood used determines the power of the wand and compatibility to the user.

Yeah, this one is slow, but it’s my 2nd favorite of the series. Goblet of Fire being first. This one has a lot of storytelling, I love the subtle shots where no words are spoken, but still a lot is being said. It’s so emotional. For me, it’s the opening scenes. Where they all basically say goodbye to their childhoods knowing their next moves are going to change everything and they may not survive. It’s powerful after 6 movies of school, it feels like the kids have finally grown up and are ready to take on the world together (literally).

in my opinion it doesn't look like a love triangle at all like we all clearly know that hermione is in love with ron and harry is very interested with ginny, harry and hermione were just very close friends like a brother/sister relationship, in the movies at least.
