I was watching a documentary about a serial killer in Australia. Every since he was 13, he was what they would call a 'Sex pest'. Nothing violent, he wouldn't rape anyone, just flash people. He had a pretty long rap sheet for flashing. By the time he got to middle age, something happened where he jumped from none violent flashing, to attempted rape and strangling of two women. How many stories have we heard where it starts as just petty thievery or just stupid stuff, and it escalates to larger crimes? I disagree in the rehabilitation process of these offenders, but I definitely do think these individuals should be separated from society and dealt with. It's like, if a child steals $10 from you, deal it with it then so that they won't go out and steal $200 from someone else.

I worked at this jail for ten years and I saw two people who met on the toilets get married. The weddings are every third Friday. You'd think* there wouldn't be that many people getting married and you'd be WRONG. Tons. People show up in gowns and families show up in matching orange. It's bizarre.
@ThaBlkRainbow
@ThaBlkRainbow 5 жыл бұрын
It's only bizarre because of the setting. But humans are humans. And when humans can find someone to romantically get attachment to, we go for it all the way. No matter how unusual it is to others. Our grandparents call us bizzare because we primarily date online. We use our phones to date people we have never met in person knowing there's a possibility of deception. We call our grandparents bizzare because Men were called "callers" and they had to schedule an appointment to come over and talk in the living room with someone supervising the visit. This was dating.

Have you heard of attachment theory? A probable reason those people you're referring to feel an especially strong need to be in a relationship (even a crappy one) is that the inadequacy and inconsistency of the parenting they received meant their young brains weren't able to develop a healthy attitude to attachment; and they may have instead ended up with "preoccupied attachment", meaning (among other things) that as adults they are likely to be preoccupied by getting and retaining attachment with others.

i think we are just so conditioned (especially as women) to think we could only be content with a man and family. I personally am married and am expecting my first child, but i was perfectly content before meeting my partner and so was he, and i think that's what makes us work. There is no right or wrong way to live your life, as long as you're not willingly hurting someone i believe. But i do believe that even if someone wants a relationship one day, they should be content with themselves, cause if that's not the case and you find the wrong one, it can end bad cause you desperately try to make something work, that's not supposed to work.

I'm from Texas and I am also a proponent for prison reform and the abolishing of our current prison system. My brother has been incarcerated since i was 9 (i'm 32) and he has been a model inmate since day 1. He still has 7 years until his first probation hearing. If we had a better system we could appeal earlier for him to be evaluated as he is 100% no longer a danger to society (Imo he never was, but suffered from an extreme mental breakdown at the time of his crime). Thank you as always for being strong and standing with victims. And yes, many are victims. Victims of a system that condemned them since birth. A victim of privatized prisons that will charge states fines if they dont keep prison population at 98%. Victims of harassment into taking plea deals for first time offenders and being led to believe by cops that a trial by jury would be worse. I could go on, but we got a long fight ahead.

@@lolitabubbles26 thank you Queen. I was only 15 years old never really been in trouble with the law never even snuck out the house always had honors classes made good grades my first time ever getting arrested. My mom was sick and going through chemo one night on a Saturday I went downstairs to make myself a sandwich because I was hungry and to get some chips from the trunk of her car. She was in the kitchen she paid me no mind I went to turn on the stereo to listen to some music while I was downstairs and I didn't realize that the stereo was on full blast and it scared her and she just started crying profusely. I looked at her and asked her why she was crying and then I was sorry that the music was so loud then I asked her where where her keys so I can get some chips from the trunk of her car she didn't want to give me her keys her kids were in her jeans that were on the couch I'm grabbing the jeans and she's grabbing the jeans too and we're both having a tug-of-war for the jeans then I left the jeans going I said you're crazy. I understood that she was going through a lot but my mother had a habit of taking a lot of her frustrations anger sadness depression just everything out on me and she never wanted to admit that. So I go back upstairs I come back down to check on the lunch meat and bread that I was warming up in the oven I see a police officer at the door I opened the door and I found out that she called the cops on me, then my uncle's brother comes and he says automatically she's such a bad person and he points at me. and the cop is listening to my uncle's brother and I look at him and I say to the cop this man wasn't even here and then he looks at him and says were you there my uncle's brother says no and then he says then you don't need to be talking. Then I don't know where the cop tells me to stand up turns me around and put handcuffs on me then my mom looks shocked and says what are you doing and he looks at her and says you called the cops right do you want her to go to jail or not then she says yes I need time alone so I can think. her saying I need time alone why didn't you just get in the car and drive off somewhere to the beach or to the park why did you have to sacrifice your own daughter for you to have some time alone. I ended up getting a felony charge for no f****** reason and what I know now had I known then I hate to say it but I probably would have punched my mom in her f****** face. I had a public defender I don't know anything about the law I didn't have any guardian supervision with me and this public defender says to me you know if you say yes. I'll let you go if you say you did it you can just leave no problem and I looked at him and said are you serious he's like yes. the cop who was right there who arrested me didn't even say to me hey don't say yes this is a felony charge I didn't know anything about felonies misdemeanors anyting. I didn't realize me saying yes meant that I was pleading guilty to a felony at 15 years old I didn't realize me saying yes to Sterling he was going to put me on probation by the grace of God thank God I was never a bad child who drink did drugs or even left the house other than to go to school. this system is f***** up and it's even worse on black and brown kids specially the dark skin black ones

I was pissed that they ended with Baby Girl and her sister. The situation with Noonie and Ebony made me feel like men enjoy intensifying tension between women. Once Squeeze started talking about sending down a shank down the bowl for Noonie to protect herself, I know there was going to be a fight and Ebony had to start it. Prison is a psychologist mind game and Ebony (once she heard that her issue with Noonie/ Squeeze escalated to the point that she could get shanked) had to start the fight, whether her reason was to settle the beef so she wouldn't have to keep looking over her shoulder or to get moved to another unit or to give reason for the CO's to toss Noonie's room to look for contraband without coming off like a snitch..... WOO! Too much.

I mean in reality, rapist don't get high sentences right now.. -_- Lots of people who go into prison for minor crimes come out worse then they were before because there is no rehab and they get stuffed together with violent people and have to adapt to survive.

One minute in... absolutely hafta disagree about doing away with penal system... I did 4 years in prison. I used to think there was no place in society for prison... but there is. There ARE ppl who are just flat out sociopaths, psychopaths, habitual manipulators, and ppl who just do not want to do any "good" on this earth outside of their own wants/needs.

Yes Kim lesbians move fast 😂😂 You need more lesbian friends to fill you in on this. Even lesbians who are not incarcerated move at this speed. It is also true that some lesbians can and do have very deep intimate relationships without having sex. As a free woman who is dating an incarcerated woman, the struggle is real but you go through it. We didn't have a sexual relationship before she was incarcerated. Strange but true. I agree prison should be abolished. And this series along with others like it have made that point VERY clear.

Welp, I guess I will just never find a partner then. How I am supposed to find a romantic relationship when people are willing to talk through toilet bowls and I don't like texting these people, or even meeting up with them. I hate dating rituals. The whole thing is unappealing to me. I am sure my perfectionist all or nothing attitude is getting in the way of things, but I look around and wonder what exactly am I supposed to be fighting for? And why the hell should I spend money, time, and energy into fighting for it? The only thing that is really popping up to mind is to have someone share the parental responsibilities when I have children.

I am a former public defender and former private defense attorney. I agree that the prison system needs serious reform, however, and I could be wrong, but prison abolitionists seem to think that prisons are filled exclusively with poor white and minority substance users who should be in rehab instead. Or that people who commit violent crimes have mental illness and with proper treatment they wouldn't be violent. Except most violent offenders do not have mental illness. Prisons are also filled with unrepentant child predators, traffickers, rapists, and murderers who will tell you straight up that given the opportunity they'll do it again.
