Huh, so we're going with the version with the opening crawl. Was not expecting that for some reason. Weird, it always seemed to me that Japan was more tolerant of religious themes in children's media than America. Like how the NES Zelda games had to have Bibles and Temples censored for US release. But I don't know what else could be happening here, there are no visible mouth flaps to sync with. I can't help but wonder if Spike's swearing might have been an instance of the English script informing the Japanese interpretation. If memory serves, Japan doesn't have many profane words like English does, so there's a lot more nuance that goes into expressing profanity in Japanese, leaving it up to interpretation for a translator. Fansubs in general tend to be a bit excessive in profanity for this exact reason, so I'm curious if something similar is happening here.

Really happy they actually made a proper translation instead of just slapping the English dub script on top of the Japanese dub. The missing slang in the English version isn't present because the Japanese version uses its own anime phrases that don't translate directly to English. People who were expecting the scripts to be identical do not understand how English to Japanese localization works or vice versa.

The Wheelie part doesn't surprise me. I watched part of the Headmasters in the English dub they did for the U.K. I didn't see the entire series because the voice acting in that series is HORRIBLE and I just can't get over them changing Blaster's name to Billy. Wheelie was the only character I actually like more in that version than the American version because it's Translated from Japanese to English the rhyming isn't there. It's not just a cultural difference by the way. Japan does have a concept of what a rhyme is. The real problem is that it's impossible to rhyme in two different languages. "Uirī wa kyō tomodachi o mitsukeyou to iimasu!" Does not rhyme. "Wheelie say find friends today!" Does rhyme. I literally just used Google Translate to translate that into Japanese by the way, that's the direct translation of that line. It's only ever going to rhyme if it's said in English. The only way to make him rhyme in Japanese would be to take the general meaning of what he's trying to say and create an entirely new rhyme that works in Japanese but then won't rhyme when it's translated back into English. And I don't know Japanese so I can't give an example of what a rhyme in Japanese would even be. The only way I'm coming up with a rhyme in a language other than English is if I do so by accident typing random English phrases into Google Translate till something rhymes.
@R0-83-RT2 ай бұрын
Considering most Japanese letters end with the equivalent of an English vowel sound I would argue it should be easier to rhyme in Japanese than it is in English. Though it does seem a bit less common to do so in song though there's plenty of examples of Japanese songs that utilize rhyme. However sometimes it's a little hard for me to tell if it's intentional or not due to almost every Japanese word ending with a vowel sound.
@RialVestro2 ай бұрын
@@R0-83-RT I didn't even realize that but now that you mention it, every word in the sentence I translated into Japanese ended in a vowel. Though to be fair there are 5 vowels, and 10 possible sounds they can make. Technically 6 because "Y" is only SOME TIMES considered a vowel. There's also more possible sounds each of them can make cause "oi" is a unique sound when they're paired together that is neither the short i sound nor the I saying it's own name. Vowels are weird, A and I can some times sound like the letter E, ie together at the end of a word sounds the same as a word ending in Y, O can some times sound like A or U, and U can sound like W or vice versa and W isn't even a vowel. So it actually makes sense that they won't rhyme even if they end in the same vowels. Funny enough words can also rhyme without actually ending in the same letters. People seem to forget that rhyming is about pronunciation not spelling. So the aforementioned words ending in ie and words ending in Y would all rhyme because they end in the same SOUND, the different spelling doesn't mean anything. BTW just for fun I decided to take the Japanese translation and translate it back to English. It ended up as "Wheelie says find a friend today!" Then I translated it two more times and ended up with "Willie says find a friend today!" Who the F is Willie?
@R0-83-RT2 ай бұрын
@@RialVestro I mean technically a lot of Japanese words rhyme without ending with the same letter because almost all of them end in an equivalent of a vowel sound even if they are different letters. This list of letters (おこそとのもよろ) all end with the equivalent of an "O" sound even if they're identified as different letters. From what I found online the reason rhyming in Japanese songs isn't as emphasized is that its unimpressive. When most of your words end in about 5 sounds there's not much sport in rhyming. There's a few exceptions ん makes an "N" sound with no additional vowel sounds attached; sometimes the "U" sound at the end of words is dropped in words like です(DeSu) though it is inconsistent, and might even be an accent thing. Western words can also be pronounced without a vowel sound at the end for obvious reasons if incorporated into song. Regardless with less sounds a word can end with rhyming is easier to achieve.

The shuttle plan wouldn't have worked on the moons because the shuttle was already heading to earth. If the shuttle headed straight towards the moon bases the Autobots would have suspected something was wrong immediately. Not to mention the Autobot heavy forces seem to have been on the Moon Bases such as Optimus Prime, & The Dinobots. One could also presume Skyfire, The Arielbots, The Protectobots, & Omega Supreme would have been on the Moon Bases as well.
