I appreciate the blaster fights in Andor. They aren’t firing fully auto blasters, they are well aimed single shots. There is weight to each blaster shot as well. People are not shrugging off blaster bolts to the chest. You get shot, you die. It’s not as flashy as most SW fights, but it feels real and a sense that anyone could die at any moment.

Just FYI the death troopers' voices are scrambled by their helmets so only other death troopers understand what they're saying. It can be turned off though, there was a death trooper in a rebels episode that didn't have her voice scrambled (she was talking to a non-death trooper superior who wouldn't understand the scrambled voice)

Fun fact to the turret guy Stormtroopers are actually acurate but the people like luke, han etc have plot armor. In one scene in mando stormtroopers gun down pirates and are very accurate and in episode 4 of the original trilogy obiwan states "only imperial stormtroopers could aim this good"

This is a blatant lie. Stormtroopers ARE accurate. We see this in the opening scene of ANH. We see this in Obi-Wans reaction to the defeated Jawa’s. Then the next time we see Stormtroopers fire its at our heroes… and the Stormtroopers have been given orders to let them escape so they deliberately miss. The next time on Cloud city we have Luke, who Vader wants to capture so there are obvious orders to not shoot to kill in effect, we even see this when Luke sees the prisoners being taken away and a Stormtrooper shoots the pillar just next to Luke’s head. Additionally the prisoners when they escape likely also have orders not to be killed as they are valuable tools to manipulate Luke to the dark side with AND their ship’s hyperdrive was disabled in the event they did escape. They had a backup plan specifically for that. What they didn’t count on was Lando’s security guard who can’t speak but is directly connected to the computer network with those head implants, and “some computer system” just so happens to tell R2 when he accesses the door controls that the hyperdrive is sabotaged. The only time the Stormtroopers are shooting to kill on the heroes is in the last movie. So in every case except maybe the last movie we’ve seen that Stormtroopers are actually wildly accurate.

I think Luthen had never seen the fight up close and it was hitting him, despite all that he said to Lonni in episode 10, it was hitting him what the cost really looks like. He understood it and had even grappled with it as he explained in that monologue, so for him to see it on Ferrix and it move him further really hits because we all think we know it and get it.. until it's us.

So, maybe expecting a Game of Thrones or first season The Witcher bloody fights would’ve been preferable. Did Tony Kilroy say that this series was supposed to be as grounded as those two shows so maybe there were expectations of extremely gritty fights instead we get a circus act with clowns.

1: this portrays the Empire much better than most people realize. You have two Imperial groups in that square: the black clad enforcers who function as riot police, they aren’t armed with guns and just there to de-escalate. And the stormtroopers are there as the killers. The guys they call in when things go too far south. It shows that the Stormtroopers are the professionals you don’t want to mess with, as they should. 2: what Luthen is thinking is that we had his speech about being damned for what he does, but that someone has to dare make the choices that create a butchers bill. He sees his actions that set the Galaxy on a rebellious path and the deaths it causes. He’s quite literally listening to the screams of the victims he created for his cause. That is why that scene adds to how strong it is. He’s not some ruthless guy who just talks about “oh I find it horrible how people are killed” but never actually gets to show it in a good way. No he’s there. Standing alone in a street and is powerless as he watches an atrocity unfold from an Empire that he wants to stop. But he is the architect. He pushed the Empire to become more violent, he made sure atrocities like this were happening all over the Empire as it is the only way to get support for the rebellion.

I think Luthern had believed that the rebellion would be won by "heroes" and that the little people would be just collateral damage that would bring the heroes to the fight. His outlook was different from Nemik's. Nemik believed little people fighting in whatever way the could, wherever they were, were the force that would push the oppressors beyond their ability to maintain tyranny. There were no "heroes" in Nemik's concept of revolution. It was in the Ferrix riot that Luthern saw little people kicking Imperial ass...and began to see Nemik's point of view.

6:46 I can't tell too well, but I think that's Wilmon (IED kid) grabbing the trooper's blaster. Also, I think the blaster hits might be done with squibs attached to the actors' clothing. They have to time the bolt CG with the squib detonation.

Yeah, pretty sure the turret that Stormtrooper was using is some sort of anti-armour or anti-emplacement gun. The sheer force those blasts were having combined with the slow fire rate kinda made me think of the Gauss Warthog from Halo.

This is another story, it doesn't have much to do with the specific plot of the Original Trilogy, but it shows how various Rebellions came to be. It's also the last step in Cassian's journey towards the Rebellion, and that's one of the guys thanks to whom the Rebels get the Death Star plans. I'm not digging deep at all, that's just basic stuff. I'm wholly convinced you just want to hate this show. You were getting so granular with your complaints we exchanged something like 20 comments on that one alley scene. If that's the case just hate it. Nobody's gonna stop you. Certainly not me. You don't need a reason to hate it. We've been at this for 2 fucking days, this isn't going anywhere and we both know it. If you wanna continue, sure, for as many days as you want. But I think it's better for the both of us if we agree to disagree and call it there. No bad blood.

I totally disagree with that, there was nothing “Suspenseful” anywhere near this series. “Great Sets” ? completely lacks any form of color or makes you believe that you are on an alien world, more like copy and paste Tatooine Mos Espa/Eisley sets. No originality. “Emotion” ? pretty bland expressions on their faces I see no emotion on any actors faces. They all give the impression of just some guy reading his lines and putting no effort in emotion whatsoever.

The reason for the messed up sound of the mask is this The trooper says something to another in basic and the enemies maybe can hear it so the helmet make it sound messed up then the other helmet receiving the message from the other gets it translated back to basic

I personally think this beats the ground fighting sequences in Rogue One. It’s perhaps the most violent example of the “bloodless carnage” trope… if those blasters didn’t cauterise on impact, imagine the blood and guts from this fight. It would be in Tarantino or Game of Thrones territory.

5:16 my biggest complain with this last episode is that the death troopers really didn’t do anything. One of them gets easily blasted by cassian and the one shown here gets… grabbed… and never shows up again. Would’ve been really cool to see them trying to fend off the civilians and protect Dedra but just get overwhelmed and tackled to the ground instead of just… grabbed

Saw your vid in recommendation a long time ago. Just managed to watch it. The chin strap thing is kinda realistic, though. Until relatively recently, the practice of wearing helmet without using chin strap was quite common because they though you could die from something bouncing off your helmet, which pull your head along with it and broke your neck as a result. It was, of course, mostly a rumor, but persistent enough that many people wear them that way for a very long time. Also, it's surprisingly hard to get helmet off someone else's head, especially if they aren't consent to it.

Star Wars combat scenes being heavily inspired by WWII movies, it makes sense not to use chinstraps. During and after the war it was a common belief that you shouldn't use a chinstrap during combat for several reasons. Such as if you somehow get knocked out and the strap moves it could strangle you. I don't know how true the many risks that were given actually were. But I do know they were commonly believed and influenced post war films.

1:01- This is one of a very few things that have the name Star Wars attached that I didn’t watch…… ever! But the reasoning behind my decision was pretty simply. I was told by multiple people and also a few critics and a few KZbinrs that if you loved “Rogue one” then you will love this show! Because it’s basically the same thing! So, yeah!
