1860 has certainly one of the biggest fanbases of the 3rd league. Many people even say that in Munich live more fans of 1860 than of Bayern but Bayern has obviously more fans outside of Munich. The 3rd League is packed with great clubs like 1860, Aachen, Dresden, Rostock, Saarbrücken, Bielefeld etc.. They are bigger than many clubs from the 1. and 2. Bundesliga. Especially Dresden and Rostock have an absolute superb atmosphere which is easily among the top 5 of whole Germany.

To be honest there are not many teams in the third tier in Germany which you can't argue have some of the best fans in the league. The likes of Dynamo Dresden, Saarbrucken and Hansa Rostock also have insane fans.

If you want to see 1860, make sure to see the S-Bahn derby in spring against SPVG Unterhaching both Clubs only need 20 min by streetcars to each others ground since Unterhaching is a smalltown right outside Munich. It's on the 15th of March.

Hey Josh, 1860 Munich has so many Awaysupporters, because they have Fans all over Germany (and even in Austria, Belgium, Netherlands). A few Germany Clubs which have big tradition have huge Fanbases in the whole Country, like Nürnberg, Cologne, HSV etc. You can compare it with club like Sheffield Wednesday.

@ The payment function probably failed at one of the food stands. I only pay by credit card at the stadium. But in general, Germany is far behind when it comes to digitalization and it's true that you can't always pay by card everywhere.
