I understand why Eric didn’t go under the water with Ariel so he could search on land, but it was a huge wasted opportunity that a lot of fans really wanted. It would’ve been so cool seeing Eric getting to see Ariel’s birthplace and her favorite spots he couldn’t explore as a human.

I think the majority of people miss the whole point of the movie being about Melody entirely and finding out about herself. Melody was struggling with the fact when she knew that she could communicate with sea creatures and animals like Sebastian and Scuttle. So it never really occurred to Ariel that her daughter being a child of sea and shore Melody would inherit Ariel's skills to understand the wild life then social life.

Same with me, I think For A Moment is really catchy and it's one of my favorite songs and even though the plot is basic, it really means a lot to me and Melody was like my Mei from Turning Red when I was growing up, I related to how anxious she was.

The music is much better in the original, but I kinda agree with Melody being much more interesting than Ariel. Ariel imo is a spoiled brat who literally disobeyed her father the entire movie just a guy she hardly knew, and I know she already expressed a big interest in humans before seeing Eric. But that doesn’t change Ariel doesn’t even apologize for making her father and sisters worry when they couldn’t find her anywhere, or for putting her kingdom and family in danger for someone she knew couldn’t be trusted. Its almost like Ariel got what she wanted in the end and doesn’t acknowledge her mistakes. While with Melody, I found her struggles of fitting in a lot more relatable, and she had every right to be mad at Ariel for hiding something so big from her. She manages to find real friends with Tip and Dash, and does ultimately apologize for her mistakes. But in the end, she doesn’t accept Triton’s offer to stay a mermaid, instead choosing to reunite the kingdoms instead. As much as I kinda wished Melody stayed a mermaid instead, it shows how she’s content as a human instead.

The entire Little Mermaid movie series was my childhood. I own all 3 on DVD and regularly have movie nights with them. I love them all so much. It holds a special place in my heart. Growing up, I could only watch it at my grandma's till my family got a DVD player (not new because we couldn't afford it) and I played it every night for years. ❤❤❤

I’m much older I grew up on this movie so I do think it’s ok compared to a lot of other part 2 I just wish the villain was someone else like her mother because her sister was never mentioned but we know she has a mother. She could have been mad 😡 at Eric and now Ursula was gone she had access to her magic 🪄 combo with her old forbidden magic end battle would have shown tritons true power but it’s just a thought

About what you said about Disney´s sequels, here´s some info of how the studio was back then: the thing is in the 90´s the guy that was in charge of the Walt Disney Studios was Michael Eisner and the guy realized they could make easy money by making straight to VHS/DVD sequels of their classic movies and that´s what they kept doing until the late 2000´s, I guess after that they started making 3D animated princesses starting with Tangled and then the live-actions

So is no one gonna talk about how Ariel's merpeople attended her wedding in the first film and the beginning of this one they attended her daughter's 1st birthday. That means humans/Eric's kingdom knows Ariel is a mermaid and they really just kept that secret from her daughter. It's the Hannah Montana movie all over again where the whole town keeps her secret. ALSO those kids at her ball had the audacity to make fun of Melody for talking to sea creatures as if they don't know she has her mothers genes. Rude.
